    24 hour count down

So glad all went well for you. I'm sure your wife will do well too. It definately makes me feel better that so many post so shortly after surgery. Rest and update us when u can. Congrats to u both!
  2. Im going to Kelly in March. I was concerned too until doing the research. I was afraid the 36 would cause me to lose even slower than I expect. Im only 5'0 and a bmi just below 40, so Im going to lose slow anyway. After researching, it seems its more up to how I work it, not the nominal difference in bougie size. I chose to stay with Kelly. Good luck!

    WLS in My Dreams...

My dream was weird and a little scary too. I woke from surgery and was super. I watched some guy next to me whine about everything (I remember thinking in my dream that he was being such a baby) but then he truly started having major issues and I had to watch while they worked a code...I woke up terrified. Lol guess my slight fears were magnified in my dream.

How awesome is that! You are obviously an exception to the stereotypical rule. You made me smile, not just for your posts but for your wife. One of the lucky ones.

    Previous Bariatric Surgery

Welcome. There are ppl here who have had revisions from other surgerys. Alot of band to sleeve, I've heard of resleeving. Im not as familiar with your particular surgery, but Im sure someone here can help. Again, welcome to the board.

    My mini vacation

Who was attacking? Perhaps I missed a post? I thought we were all just discussing. Im glad u had a good experience. Omar seemed like a really nice guy. Him changing to Dr. Illan just happened in December. Its a new change, for those who have been in the boards forever. I thought we were all just sharing the new info. Those of us going to Kelly will surely miss meeting Omar, but it is what it is. Sorry if you felt attacked, but I don't think that was how it was meant..I hope. Best wishes for your journey.

    My mini vacation

Personally, with all the rumors out there and coordinator games, I take everything I read about doctors with a grain of salt. Obviously, these docs perform the surgery well or there wouldn't be so many people going. (And succeeding) I'm comfortable with my choice in Kelly and don't care if they are the real life Peyton Place. I would just as quickly choose one of the many other qualified surgeons I've seen on here if Kelly were unable to do it. If you are comfy with your choice, ignore the drama. We have no way of picking out the truth and fiction or knowing the stories behind them. I'm sorry to miss Omar and his wonderful reputation but he's not performing my surgery. I can only hope the icing is as sweet, but as long as the surgery goes well, it will be worth the price.

    My mini vacation

Amanda...one and the same. Dr. Illan was trained with Dr. Kelly and according to Dr. Kellys new coordinator...(all heresay) Omar opted to go with Dr. Ilan and do his own thing. He is supposedly still in contact, but not working directly with Kelly anymore. Has me a little nervous to go in March, especially not knowing how this new woman handles patients and their family. I liked Omar. : ( Gotta roll with the changes I guess. Good luck in your upcoming surgery.

    6 months out!

    Awesome job!!
  16. My mother is 4'10. At 180# she was diabetic, had sleep apnea, high bp and shortness of breath, no energy, and due to an injury earlier in life to her leg, had become disabled and was headed for a wheelchair in just a few short years..if she was lucky. She had surgery in Sept. Diabetes is gone, shes about to come off bp meds, her cholesterol is normal, shes walking without a limp, energy is up ALOT. She's never home now, before she never went out. The sleep apnea is expected to go away soon too. Im 5'0. Im 206 lbs, yoyoed my whole life. Im 38 now. I have high bp (already suffered a mini stroke due to bp), have sleep apnea, high cholesterol, and pre diabetes, can't breath. My legs, knees and back kill me everyday. My quality of life is nill. Self exclusion, physical inability, self esteem..blah, blah..so yes, height and other factors make a difference. Its worth the money, the work, the pain, everything if I can someday hike with my son..or just look back one day and say I atleast enjoyed some of my life.

    Why weight loss surgery?

Quality of life, social self exclusion, chronic depression...I guess in a roundabout these are kind of included in your list though.
