    Vsg Food Help

Mini, Ive heard the straw thing is because of the air you take in sucking through the straw compared to sipping. Clear liquids are things u can "see" thru. Broths, jello, some juices or drink mixes, water, teas. Full liquids are things like shakes, pudding, yogurt(no fruit bits), cream or strained soups, ect.

    Dr Kelly?

Im to have surgery in March w/ Dr. Kelly. There are alot of rumors floating around (mostly from last year) mainly due to the competition and Dr. Kelly broke away from the coordinators. Some exaggerated, some completely unfounded. I too spoke w/ Omar and Dr. Kelly and was told the loss of pt was PE. All past pts have seemed to have a high opinion and Im very comfortable with my decision.

    2+ Years Out

BBJuice, Thank you for sharing. Your success is a HUGE inspiration for me. Im a short (5'0) presleever. Surg 3/2013.I was always a strong, muscular gal when younger albiet with atleast a little fluffy cover lol and thought I had no hope of returning to that. Yours were some of the first posts I saw upon joining VST. You gave me hope and you remain a major inspiration..so don't disappear completely! ; )

Anyone Eating & Drinking At The Same Time?

It is. I haven't heard of any sleevers having true dumping syndrome..vomiting, slimies when overeating or eating bad things. yes..but not dumping syndrome like other gastric surgeries. I am also under the impression that the not drinking is so as not to flush food thru faster therefore being able to eat larger amounts at each sitting.

    My Journey Through Photos

    Wow!! Amazing! You look great!
  14. I know there are a few threads discussing this. I know there isn't a big difference in sizes between the most common 32,34,36 frenches. But I'm wondering if there is a difference in weight loss over time. It depends on so many factors. Starting weight, diet, activity. But I notice some people have much less restriction than others. 32s even seem too feel it with liquids, 36s are drinking fluids like its nothing. Im going to Dr. Kelly who uses a 36 which I'll be honest is my ONLY questioning factor in having him perform the surgery. I don't want to be 3 months out eating a cup of food while some are just reaching those amounts at 9 months. My fear of failure and regain probably putting doubts in place. : /

    Outpatient Sleeve?

Also..she was sleeved in the US, low risk, fairly low bmi by a reputable surgeon in a major area hospital.

    Outpatient Sleeve?

My mom was sleeved 9/25. Went in, had surgery and on her way home by 2:30. Her doc says alot of US physicians are going this route for noncomplicated sleeves since you can rest and sip just as well if not better at home. She did great. She even went home on FULL liquids and at 2 weeks released to whatever food she wanted..not purees or soft. Regular food. She even ate steak pieces at 2 weeks! But she's doing great.
  18. Wow. And I thought the US healthcare system was a pain...kinda puts things un perspective. We could use some changes, but it doesn't seem so bad now. ; )
