  1. Just wondering if anyone has teen sons and how they acted after you started losing weight. I have a 14 n 16 year old and my oldest son is acting really protective. He is noticing guys checking me out. It's like he just figured I'm not just a mom lol.
  2. I will be four months post op on Friday of this week. I was approved for diabetes. For the past five years it's been impossible to control. In addition all the insulin I had to take made it impossible to lose weight. Prior to surgery my AC1 was 12. I went to get blood work yesterday and my doctor called this morning to say it's 6.5. I am so excited. Because my diabetes was so resistant they thought it would take awhile to get off my meds. Also they really pushed for me to do the bypass because of it's success rate with diabetes. I am so happy for my sleeve and realize it only gets better from here!!! I've been stalled at 202 for three weeks now but honestly this is just another reminder that the scale really doesn't matter. The first picture shows the night before surgery, six weeks out, 3 months out and yesterday. Not a huge difference between the last two I've been stalled most of this month but I feel great and I can jog now lol.
  3. I completely understand my dad is a diabetic and my mom is a breast cancer survivor. That's why when everyone asked about getting sick from my sleeve I responded can it be any worse then kidney failure? That's the way my diabetes was going. I see most people left the hospital off of their medications. When I left the hospital I had numbers in the 200s. I was also on two different insulins so it feels so great not to have to take anything. I know the diabetes will always be there but my sleeve makes eating so much easier. Good luck everyone
  4. Thanks guys. The crazy thing is the sugar cravings are gone. Not sure if anyone ever experienced that intense feeling to have anything sweet.
  5. Thanks guys. I feel awesome. I have so much energy and I'm not waking up ten times a night to go to the bathroom. Anyone who had a hard case of diabetes knows how frustrating it is to try to keep your numbers in a normal range. This was more important then losing the weight. Now I have a much better chance of having a happy future.

  7. I'm going to send you a message now.
  8. I just recently lost my job and will be without health insurance soon. I'm a single mom with two kids but I was laid off two years ago and keep thinking we made it then. You can still eat healthy on a small budget. You have tuna, ground turkey, eggs, refried beans. If you need suggestions send me a message. Also going to the park and walking is always free. You have to try to stay positive. Most cities have sliding scale doctors check that out. You will make it through this.
  9. I'm four months out this week and I can finally take a gulp not after eating but after exercising. Also I use a water bottle with a built in straw. I know a lot of doctors say no straws but I've been using one since month two. My doctor said it can cause gas. Honestly not sure what I would do without my straw. It just seems to go down easier. My coworker is six months out and she loves a straw also. Hope this helps
  10. Congrats, on your weight loss. I'm about four months and have been a really slow loser which my doctor says is ok. One thing that keeps me,motivated are before and after pictures. Each week I take pictures front, back and side shots. Even when the scale doesn't move I notice my body transforming maybe it's my arms being a little smaller. It's always something. Good luck and congrats
  11. Hey no problem please feel free to ask me anything. I palm roll and am very careful not to do it to tight around my edges. I take Biotin. Honestly my hair and nails have grown a lot since surgery I'm thinking its from all the Vitamins. I hit 4 months this week so I'm going to look for hair loss now. I'm most worried about my front hair because its the thinnest. I started out at 241. I'm currently 202 been on a stall for about two Weeks. I'm 5'7 and was approved based on my diabetes. I had a really severe case and was on pills n insulin shooting insulin 7 times per day. Now I taking one shot of insulin that my doctor said will stop after I am down 20 more pounds. Probably more then you asked for but I am so grateful for my sleeve.

    Stall

I had to move the scale out of the house it can be very addicting.
  13. Great things many I wish I would have known before hand. Also Chick Fil A has grilled nuggets. They are for the kids meal but you can buy them for like $1.60. They are really tender and with a little honey mustard a great fast food meal.
  14. I love my fiber gummies. It took them a little while to start working but if I miss a day I will see a difference.

    Stall

I'm almost four months out and now I just expect stalls. The best part about stalls for me once it's over I usually lose a nice amount at once. Just remember it's temporary. I'm stalled right now at 202 lol but hopefully next time my scale moves it will be in the 100s. Good luck

    Who Are You?

Hi everyone my name is Andria and i'm 40. I'm the mother of two boys 14 n 16. About six years ago I was diagnosed with diabetes and started insulin that first day. Because it was so severe I had to take tons of insulin and became very overweight. I was so busy being a single mom who worked and went to school that I never had time for myself. I, realized this year that my boys are getting older and they have lives of their own and guess what I didn't have one. So now I am getting skinnier and honestly finding out who I am and what I like. I'm actually making jewelry these days, love to read and take pictures of myself and see the changes! Lol vain maybe a little. I want to travel something I never could afford. I would love to open a consignment store one day. Most of all I am looking forward to dating. So not use to the attention and not even sure how to date but I guess I will figure it out. I love this site because although my friends and family are happy for me I know folks here actually experience those small joys. Good luck to everyone and I hope everyone has experienced that new found happiness that I have.
  20. Its probably too soon. But being honest early on I had horrible cravings. Gave in twice and regretted as the pain was unbearable I thought I was going to die the food just kind of day in my throat it was awful. Needless to say haven't had a piece of chocolate since lol.
  21. Just curious when does the hair loss generally start? I'm 3.5 months out. I have locs so I wonder if I will be able to notice. Since the surgery my hair and nails have been growing like crazy. Thinking its from all the vitamins. Hair is such a personal choice but I will say with all the working out it helps so much not to worry about my hair. Between working my kids and working out its one less thing to worry about.
