  1. I made the decision to keep my sleeve a secret from everyone but my husband and sister (who was sleeved at the same time). I have been doing really well and feeling so good these past 2 months, I feel really guilty when I see overweight friends or friends of friends. It's like I discovered the cure for cancer and I'm keeping it to myself! I went to MX because I had a low BMI & no co-morbidities,so insurance was not an option. Maybe one day when I reach my goal I will feel comfortable sharing the truth.

    Rough Next Several Weeks!

This will be my first mothers day without my mom also. My dad also let us know he has a new 53 y/o girlfriend (he is 70) that he will be going to visit on Sunday. The urge to stuff food in my face has been almost overwhelming. We will get thru it. Probably with lots of tears, but we will get thru it!

    Onederland!

Congratulations! Isn't that the best feeling! Especially when you will never visit "twoterville" again!

    MyFitnessPal.com Members

I'm adding you all so look for me:) I'm ddfinn there also:) Please make your diaries available to friends. Its helps so much to see what other vsgers are eating. Please excuse the 12 chips I ate today. I log it all, the good, the bad, and the ugly!!
  5. I hope you find someone:) I just wanted to say good luck. I was sleeved by Dr Kelly on 3/9 and it has been great from day 1. I never had pain, nausea, haven't been immune to the stalls but I have lost 33 lbs so far!
  6. Good Luck! I will be thinking of you and praying for you tomorrow.
  7. I had problems with my IV too. My sister is a nurse and she said the needles they use in MX are much bigger. I'm not sure because I couldn't look!
  8. Yes, and the hotel also has a couple of computers in the lobby you can use to print boarding passes.
  9. Woo Hoo! So glad you are doing well. I have been thinking about you and checking in here for updates! You made it through the hard part, its all downhill from here. I can't wait to start hearing about your losses!

    Ate To Much?

My sleeve tells me when I have eaten too much! I get a terrible pain in my side. Once I take that extra bite or two, its too late. If your sleeve tolerated it, I'd say you didn't over do it.
  11. You look so pretty! It was 87 here in Pittsburgh today! Crazy!
  12. And I'm a "slow loser" who has had a couple of long stalls. Just wanted to give the pre-op something to think about! :)

    Running Out Of Options

I took the money out of my ira and paid the penalty. My sister got a loan from one of the companies that advertise here. MedLoans maybe?? I think they approve everyone but your interest rate will depend on your credit score so it could be a little high. If you paid cash for your house, you should have a ton of equity and be able to get a small home equity loan for a much lower interest rate. I will just say, what ever you have to do, its worth it! Also, there are a couple of docs who are still under $5000.
  14. So excited for you! See you on the losers bench!
  15. You will do great and it will be nice to have that extra day of recovery. You will have more energy to see the sights on your last day in TJ!
  16. Can you ask for an earlier surgery time. Just my own opinion but I would not want to be last in line if my surgeon had done 10 procedures before me. If you are going to Dr Ponce, talk to Trish. My friend went to him and he had 10 or 12 surgeries scheduled for the same day. She requested to be first and went in at 7:30 am while everyone was still fresh!
  17. My surgery w/ Dr Kelly was $5200, airline tickets were $310, I brought money to tip the driver (to and from airport) $15 each way, singles to tip the hotel staff (housekeeping, baggage carrier, room service) I checked my carry on for the return trip ($25 well spent) Dr Kelly paid for all of the perscriptions, both Dr Kelly and Trish brought us drinks (tea, gatorade, water). We had a pedicure compliments of Trish but tipped the woman $10 each. Uuummm, I did spend a lot of money on jewlry while shopping but I put it on cc. Broth in the cafe is $7. Ask for a complimentary popscicle on your way out:)
  18. Good luck on Thursday! I think you will be pleasantly suprised at how nice TJ is. INT and the Lucerna are in a very nice part of town. You will have a beautiful little balcony off your hotel room, either overlooking the fountain out front or the gorgeous pool area. Its a very nice place to recover. Trish will pray with you, make you laugh and just put you totally at ease

    Once Upon A Time...

So happy for you! I am only at the begining of my journey (7wks post op) so I loooove the happily ever afters
  20. My sister and I were the last 2 patients that Trish co-ordinated for Dr Kelly. It was pretty stressful because they were NOT getting along! If I had had to choose, I would have stuck with Dr Kelly. I thought about switching to Dr Ponce, but when I was planning my surgery in Jan (surgery 3/9) there was practically NO information on him. I searched obesityhelp, gastric sleeve talk and this forum. I couldn't find more than a handful of his patients. I think Trish is doing a good job getting his name out there recently! My sister and I both swear by Dr Kelly. There are lots of great Dr's in MX. My advice would be to talk to POST op patients. That's really the only relevant info:)

    So Hard Not To Compare

Slow losers unite!lol It may take us longer than some of the others, but we WILL get there. I set small goals for myself so it doesn't seem so overwhelming. This week I reached onderland! My next goal is to lose 2 lbs which will make my total loss -30. I agree, it can be a little depressing to compare yourself to others who are losing so much faster. I just try to remember, this is MY journey, and I am thankful for every minute of it!

    Lets Talk About This Drain

I didn't have a drain with my vsg surgery but I had a breast reduction previously and had one on each side! It want painful per say but I did almost pass out when they were removed. Had I not been laying down, I would have hit the floor! Is the drain really nessesary? Not all Dr's use them so maybe you can request that they don't put one in you!
  23. When everything in your closet fits and is comfortable or too big! All those too tight things that were shoved in the back are finally seeing the light of day!
