  1. BBJ-honey if I could have a bod like yours--I'll take your loose skin! You look amazing & your journey is very inspirational! I'm 12 weeks post op today, down 63 lbs...and you are letting me know there is a pot of gold at the end of this journey!  Sent from my iPhone using VST
  2. I will be 12 weeks out in 2 days, and every since I was 8 weeks out & my surgeon told me to go for it, I can't get enough salad! I crave it constantly! I make sure that I have LOTS of high Protein toppings & red onions and I chow down! Since my surgery, I switched to mostly tender greens & baby spinach, but I also eat some iceberg, with no problems. My tastes have changed drastically since I was sleeved & I'm just happy that my two favorites are still good to me: salad & sushi! It takes me several days to eat a meal sized salad, so I use fat free dressing on the side. An order of sushi rolls typically takes me 2 1/2 days to finish also. I don't mind because I love leftovers. I bought a grilled chicken & baby salad from Subway (mistake); and I was PO'd that I paid $6.50 for chicken breast I couldn't even find! So I came home & dumped a 5 oz can of boneless salmon on it & voila! Good eating for the weekend!  Sent from my iPhone using VST

Is It Enough? Too Much? Not Enough?

I remember that feeling! Just relax and "listen" to your tummy. If you're not sure of how you feel, then pace yourself. If you're not feeling any discomfort...that's great! Because if its one thing I've learned in the last 3 months; if I do ANYTHING wrong, Tiny Sleevie let's me know immediately! Have you started having tummy noises yet? Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Boobies

I was sleeved 2/20/12 and I have lost 63 lbs in 12 weeks...I started as a 42DDD, now I am a loose 40DD, because that's the smallest bra I own. I honestly believe I could easily wear a 38DD, but I'm desperately trying to not buy new bras until I hit 75 lbs down because of the expense. The girls are much smaller, but I've had them since I was 12 and my back & shoulders are glad to see the extra weight go! I don't want implants, but after 4 kids I definately plan on a lift & reduction! I want pretty, small, perky boobies that don't make my back & shoulders hurt! (And that will look cute in my bellydancing costumes!)  Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Probiotics & Weight Loss

Myself & my 6 yr old are both lactose intolerant, while my older 2 kids are not. Instead of continuing to spend a fortune on 4 gallons of 2% and 2 half gallons of Lactaid every week, I just buy Sweet Acidophilus and we are all happy! I just wish I had known years ago that it was better for us than Lactaid! I believe it helps my new tummy and contributes to keeping things...regular! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    African American Sleevers

I've been off the forum for a couple of weeks, so I'm jumping back in! First of all, I was not offended by Kayte's question, whether or not we as individuals choose to address it, body size is a definate issue to many African American men. I have been African Anerican for 39 years, I have 27 AA blood brothers and "booty, hips & boobs" always seem to come up in conversations. I don't know why so many AA men (not all) are attracted to overly voluptuous body parts, but it's a fact in the AA community. Since I've started losing weight, I've heard all sorts of what I feel are ignorant comments--like don't lose your booty cause Brotha's don't like bags of bones--Personally, I have always thought this journey was about health, not about trying to look like an overweight Betty Boop to satisfy our husbands, boyfriends & significant others. But since our men folks are a part of our lives, we have to take their tender feelings into consideration, correct? My solution to the body shaping issue is simple-working out. My glutes may not be as generous as before my weight loss, but they can be toned & firm thanks to regular exercise. The same can be said for my thighs & arms. Moving onto the depression issue, in my 2nd week post-op; I went through a period of "OMG/What have I done?" I feel this is a natural response in dealing with so many major changes at one time. This surgery is a complete game-changer, the recovery is difficult for many and we all have to deal with it's effect on the people in our lives. I truly appreciate this forum and all the people here. We are here for support & education, not to judge & belittle. So many times in the last 11 weeks, this forum has been my only source of information & help and I hope it will continue to be that way for everyone, me included. We are on the journey of a lifetime and we need each other to succeed. Sorry to ramble...had to get all that off my chest. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  11. The only Protein I could get down were Premier shakes from Sam's...and I've been lactose intolerant for years! I would drink 1/2 of the shake at a time & my tummy wouldn't get upset. Now that I'm almost 3 months out, I eat 1 Protein Bar for Breakfast everyday & the rest of my daily protein comes from food. This has made life soooo much easier! I'm loving my sleeve!!! 12. It took me a full 6 weeks to feel normal-ish post-op. Prior to that I was miserable, trying to manage my diet progression, Protein, Water etc...I've seen the greatest change at 8 weeks though, because I dropped Protein shakes & started eating Protein Bars & the switch flipped! I feel awesome, back to my old self, but much better--and of course 58 lbs lighter! I'll be 11 weeks out in 3 days and life is gooood! I never knew what I was missing out on by being so unhealthy! I am so thankful for my sleeve! Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Terrible New Habit

I used to chew & spit daily before I started mushies post op. I did it for the flavor. Once I got to mushies I never did it again. Now I'll only spit out something too tough to swallow. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    When Did It Hit You?

I'm still in dreamland! I feel as if I am living the most wonderful dream ever!! I don't how long it will take my brain to accept that I've lost 55 lbs, I've went from a 24 to an 18...and I look & feel fabulous!!! This is the most wonderful time in my life, I am enjoying it...but taking it one day at a time! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  19. I feel great! Sleeved 2/20/12! Truly, my turning point was when I could eat protein bars instead of trying to drink it! It has made all the difference, I never found a protein powder/shake that I was truly compatible with because they're yucky! Lol! I have a builders protein bar w/my 1 cup of coffee every morning & I get in the rest of my protein from food. I'm 9 weeks out, by last count I was down 53 lbs & I feel GREAT!!! Yay! Nsv!

I have a back injury, so I decided to soak in a hot, steamy bubble bath at about 4:30am this morning. As I was sitting in the tub, I realized that I had PLENTY of room! Also that my thighs are waaay smaller! Sooo...after lots of splashing around, I did something I hadn't done in years: I stood up from the bathtub without worrying that I'd get stuck! Lol! This NSV put the icing on my Wednesday! Sent from my iPhone using VST
