  4. I never had the issue but I do take a gummy fiber supplement daily...Works like a charm with no issues. Walmart has Fiber Gummies and they taste just like candy

    2 Days Post-Op

Nope you're fine. I had zero pain and no trouble taking in liquids like you. One night stay in the hospital and was back to work on day 2. Just took it easy while things healed up

    Excess Skin

a strict weight training and body toning plan has prevent this issue for me (hired a trainer). Yes its true insurance won't cover the skin removal for cosmetic reasons but may due to medical reasons (I have an insurance license). Don't fear about the skin issue, it can be sorted out. Your new life after weightloss will far out weight it

To add more on my post. I also do the no carb diet with no breads, flour, or sugars of any kind.

    Loosing To Fast?

You sound much like me. I took off like a rocket and lost like 60 pounds in six weeks. But now I'm at my 6 month mark losing 2-5 pounds a week (down 110 pounds since Jan now). It will level off eventually for you. As long as your labs show vitamin intake is fine and you're hitting the protein mark it should be ok.
  10. Use this suggestion only in moderation: You can take a ginger ale and shake the bottle and get it all flat. (shake, release the pressure, then repeat a few times) ONLY if that's the option of last resort...

    Do U Now Look Older?

Nope, I'm looking 5+ years YOUNGER
  12. The person above me is right. You can gain weight with any weightloss procedure. Your focus and diet from this point on has to be different than your past life. Its hard to realize and describe this now since you're pre op but once your weigtloss is coming off and you start feeling better and get compliments, you'll not want to go back to old habits. Good Luck!

    Oikos Greek Yogurt

Its great for post op soft foods where it has the high protein. I found the Vanilla flavor has less sugar in it than the ones with FRUIT in the bottom. For the small portion that it is, I think it makes a great high protein snack or the occasional "sweet treat"

    How Many Carbs A Day?

I've excelled my weightloss going no carb...but my weightloss manual said to keep servings at 20 grams or less per serving

    Self Pay With Questions!

Yea the hoops are less for self pay but I don't know if they can get you into surgery as fast as you're expecting. It took 2 months from first consult for me to get the VSG done on my self pay. My doc made me go through an EKG, Chest x ray, and an EGD scope before surgery (which he made all patients due). Its going to have to be the prep steps of your surgeon that will determine how fast you get it done, but either way is much faster than with insurance

  17. - Bettering your health is never a mistake - It will work because it forces you to reduce portions - It works, just look at the hundreds of happy people from here or watch some youtube stories of people who went through it. - Recovery from surgery is quick (as you can see from the post of the people on here) - What should you do? Look at tomorrow as the first day of your new life and embrace it! Start a motivated outlook and claim this year as the year for YOU!

    Question About Restriction

Oh its a totally different when you get to solids. Liquids and soft things slide on through the sleeve. More solid foods stick around longer in the stomach. You're doing fine, just remember to be eating the healthy liquids and soft foods. No ice cream ..etc.

    Lortab

yea its not bad. I only took one dose of it then didn't need any more pain meds. I have a whole bottle left
  20. For guys out there who may be like me: you buy clothes and wear then for long periods of time. well for those men who just sleeved and for the prospective ones: Start a clothing budget! I'm buying different clothing sizes almost twice a month. I was sleeved in January 2012 and wore a size 46 waist. Today I had to buy size 36!!! And I just fit into the 38s three weeks ago. Remember not to over buy in a particular size because you will only wear them for a short while. Thought I'd share this with the guys out there. Sometimes this isn't something you realize is going to happen and it helps to plan
  21. I never did stop chewing gum. The real reason doctors tell you to be aware of it, is actually for GAS reasons (same with drinking straws). Sometimes people inhale higher amounts of air while chewing. As for popcorn, I never was told any restriction on it. Just have it at the appropriate phase of the post op diet.

    Suggestions On Taking B12

Sounds like you're using the dots. You can also get it in subliningal liquid. I haven't used the dots but do you hold them under your tongue like I do the liquid?
  23. Hmm never heard about this. Never had a leak test and I'm 5 months out...guess my doc was confident
  24. Wow, I never had bad flavored or bad experience shakes. I still drink my Muscle Milk once a day at 5 months post op especially after a workout. Now I'd rotate around the different flavors but I still kinda love them. Muscle Milk and the cans of Pure Protein brand are the ones I ever used. I never got into the whole protein powder thing. Have you tried these brands? The Strawberry Muscle Milk is great!
