    Drinking While Eating

yup the 30 min rule was also advised to me by the doc. So far its working like a charm!
  4. Its ok to reschedule surgeries. It sounds like your support system on this is already failing. The pre-op diet is SO important to shrink down your liver prior to surgery to make the proceedure go more safely and to also see if you can mentally follow the diet after surgery. No one said you had to be in a hurry in doing all this. Just make sure you feel ready to do it and know your support is going to be there and you've made the mental commitment to follow the change in lifestyle. Once its done, there's no turning back!

    7 Wks Out...nsvs And Stats

    thats awesome sauce
  6. Yea this of course is different per person but for me I was given Liquid Lortab which I stop taking 2 days after surgery. I never really was in pain
  7. the liquid 3 oz protein shots is a good way to fill the gaps on days you're low on the protein count. They come in plastic tubes and can be found in any store diet section like walmart
  8. my post diet instructions didn't restrict coffee but to watch out for too much caffeine cause it can cause problems going to the bathroom
  9. That sounds great and very simliar to what I'm going through. I was sleeved on Jan 12 and I've lost 26 pounds already in just under 2 weeks. I have ZERO complications or pain and was back to 100% by the fourth day out of surgery. Living on water, broth, protein shakes, protein shots, vitamins, and yogurt. I plan on going back to the tredmill starting Monday..so I should start to lose even more!

    I'm Always Ccccold!

Same here..except its just my feet that stays cold. I was expecting this since I had read before my surgery, the hormone that controls hunger "Ghrelin" also controls body temp. One of the production centers of Ghrelin in the body is found on the streatchy part of the stomach...which is the same part removed during a VSG. Add all that plus loss of mass = higher blanket budget, higher heating bills
  11. Instead of drinking that straight nasty chicken or beef broth, simply buy a normal size can of campbells chicken noodle soop and strain out the noodles and meat. I did it into a coffee cup and nuked it. Tastes SO much better than straight broth and actually has more Protein in it this way. Thats my take on the broth. B

    Actigall Questions...

Doc orders for me on this is to begin one week after surgery which will be this Thursday. The risk from the pain of a gallbladder attack AND another surgery to remove it will out weigh in my mind any side effects it may have. Or if it does bother me I'm sure I can ask for a different med
  13. My doc said after my surgery never take a pill bigger than an M&M in the beginning and for calcium he just told me to chew a Tums to fill that need. The rest of my post op vitamins are chewable or liquid except my B1, which is a tiny pill.
  14. Oh I hear ya. I'm two days post op (1/12/12) and the only thing I'm battling is pressure pains and incision tightness from stiches. Looking forward to what others post on this B
  15. For protein right now I'm doing the 3 oz shots and the isopure as a change up. Less liquid in the shot so I don't feel as full but both taste pretty bad.
  16. Well, I finally made a profile on here after "lurking" for a good month and a half. I have my VSG set for this Thursday and I'm not really nervous (is that normal?) I've researched the hell out of this proceedure now for 6 months. The youtube videos of people and their progress is really what help sell me on going through with it and THEN I found this great forum that told more real success stories. I've been doing the high protein diet for two months knowing the doc would eventually put me on it. Its really not hard to do, especial with the pure protein brand shakes AND the shrinking of the liver due to low fat actually shrank the tummy. They are AWESOME. Also, it didn't hurt that I was a meat eater before the diet. Also hired a personal trainer to do strength training so I don't lose too much muscle mass during this (I've gotta stay buff ya know). Anyways, thats my story. If any other pre-op person has questions feel free to contact me.
  17. 4 days away from surgery and it hasn't settled in yet
