  1. Spreading some positiveness for the guys out there who are reading the boards. I was sleeved Jan 12th... officially down by my surgeons scale 80 pounds. I never had any issues after surgery with anything ...no pain. I'm able to eat anything I want but of course in lower amounts. Here is what my plan has been so far - no fried foods for months now - no sugar - no soda, no beer! nothing carbonated... - no/very little carbs..NO bread..no Pasta no sweets of any kind - lots of lean steak, baked fish, grilled chicken, and ground beef. Chili is good too and so is beef Jerky - Lots of crystal light for when I'm tired of Water - Muscle Milk Protein shakes - vanilla is the best to me - Pure Protein Shakes as a change up - Cookies n cream is the best to me - Light cheeses as Snacks..string cheese - Atkins Protein Bars that are at least under 200 cals each - sugar free lifesavers are a great for when you want a "sweet" - My sleeve really likes wheat thins for some reason All this with taking my Vitamins in the morning ...most of them are in gummy form. Thought I'd give some guys out there some info of whats working
  2. This is 80 pounds loss total since surgery Jan 12th. As for exercises...I'm doing WEIGHT training with mild cardio before workouts. Guys loose muscle mass during WLS and I don't want to lose my strength! I took off like a rocket and lost 50 pounds my first month.
  3. try eliminating the carbs...its what I've done and its accelerated my weightloss. Also the 64 oz of water is the key to flushing everything out

    Blood Clot Anyone?

sounds like a blood pressure issue. This dizzyness occurs with me after sitting from a hard workout in the gym. I read online its called posterity hypo tension...meaning blood pressure gets low after exercise. The cures I found online was to simply just get up slower till your body is fully adjusted to weightloss.

    1) Gum Chewing And 2) Straws

chewing gum normally isn't a restriction and its not listed in any research I've did prior to being sleeved nor was it in my 50 page "sleeve manual" my doctor gave me. Now chewing MULTIPLE pieces at one time in big motions...well yea..will make you ingest more air. I don't recommend that. I chew gum all the time...I use it as an appetite suppressant. As for straws...I was told don't use them for 6 months but I do with no problems....

    Protein Drink

Doctor offices get a cut of the sales of the bariatric advantage products. As for protein drinks with real high protein content... The body can only absorb around 25 grams at a time. You have to wait at least 2 hrs in between servings.
  10. It prob doesn't matter....but with the body in shut down mode while you're sleeping, I don't see the benefits of intaking protein before sleep. The prime time to intake protein is within one hour of a work out.

    Soda

Carbonation causes water retention....and gas...thats why docs don't want us really drinking it. I had a beer last weekend for the first time (I'm about 3 months post op) other than lots of burps I didn't even get tipsy off it...
  12. Yup I went from a size 15 wide back down to my high school 14 wide from highschool...and I'm 32 now

    Water And Eating

my doc said you can take a sip while eating..but no full on drinks or gulps. But if you do drink too much like I did you'll wash the food right out of the sleeve
  14. I just had a low fat pre op diet to shrink the liver for one week. No liquid diet required. Different doctors do it different ways

    1200-1500 Calories...really?

its an issue of finding that perfect balance range of cals for your body. First try 800-1000 for a week and two and monitor weight loss...then try 1000-1200 for a few weeks. See which range worked best
  16. its a weightloss supplement...How many weeks are you post op?...and is there a hurry to lose weight?

I Just Got It Done Thursday

Anti gas meds were a must for me. They gave me a script for some and then once that ran out I used Gas-x strips and chewables...
  19. Only driving restriction I was given was if I stayed on my narcotic pain meds they gave me...which I never took or needed. I was driving 48 hrs after with no prob.
  20. You're fine..I didn't have any pain after mine either. Each person is different. As for weighloss at this period...you're still in the swollen water retaining stage. Just be patient and you'll see the pounds start to fall off
  21. This happened with me also. My fix was to start taking a Gummy Fiber supplement each morning. Apparently I wasn't getting enough fiber in the diet. Also, make sure you're following the rule of no drinking 30 mins before eating and then 1 hr after eating. If you drink too soon it just flushes the food down the system before it can be digested....
  22. Alrighty Guys, Time for the men to chime up a bit more on here. Here is my story for today: I was sleeved on Jan 12th, 2012...70 pounds down...everything went/is going great. I can eat anything but of course in moderation. I do high Protein with little to no carb. No bread, no carbonation, no sugar. I'm a HUGE grillmaster and really haven't grilled out since last fall. Well I fire up the grill tonight to cook a fresh Rib Eye steak. For the heck of it (and out of habit) I threw a pack of hot dogs also on the grill. Well like any non-sleeved grill master, I ate a hot dog fresh off the grill as I was cooking. Great tasting hot dog...didn't have a problem and hey they have one carb in them. Well that one hot dog filled me up! Ahaha...so now I sit here waiting for things to digest so I can at least have half of my Rib Eye steak. Lesson of this story guys is that we can't be graze eating while waiting on the main item to cook....unless you want to wait!! Worm
