Dr. Kelly & New Coordinator Omar
cissiesue replied to AZ Sunshine's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I completely agree! Being a coordinator does not make you an expert on wls or on surgeons. I realize we have to rely on them for some things, but making your decision should have little to to do with the coordinator. It should be based on a surgeons credentials, and TONS of research! Some of the most brilliant surgeons have been known to be hot heads, temperamental, or just plain arrogant. (the tv show "HOUSE" is a great example, even though its fiction) It does help that they have a good bedside manner, but what this all boils down to is the skill of the surgeon. And I believe that most of these Mexican surgeons are very skilled. I'm going to Mexico for a life changing operation, not for silly gimicks, a mini vacation, or sightseeing. -
What's The Most Difficult Part Of Living With Your New Sleeve?
cissiesue replied to CathyT59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im glad you asked this, as I will be the cook in the house like alwaya.. I really want to know how you ladies cook for your families and stick to your diet? I am looking forward to the idea that with my healthy change, it will trickle down to my whole family. And in turn, my hubby will make better food choices for him and our kids -
Florence Hospital Vs. Int Hospital Tijuana Mexico
cissiesue replied to BeautyVGSJourney's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Well, the only thing you will really see, is the cut off stomach being pulled out. I've watched evety YouTube video on the surgery I can find, so the video does nothing for me really...but I understand the novelty of it. And if it's something you feel you need, then you'll be happy you have it! Im certain Dr PDL is a great surgeon, and that you are in good hands -

Anyone Atleast 2 Yrs Out?
cissiesue replied to rdoactv's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Delby, it also has to do with that despite our crummy economy, our dollar is stronger and more valuable. Right now, its 12.5 pesos to 1 US dollar. If you did the math, you would see that it comes out to quite a bit of money, but we just get a break because if the value of our dollar -
Florence Hospital Vs. Int Hospital Tijuana Mexico
cissiesue replied to BeautyVGSJourney's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have not heard any if those things about Florence. I've heard that its a bit dated, decor wise, and that their equipment isnt the most to date but that its nothing different than you see in the states and that most hospitals have the same/similar equipment. I've seen it is extremely clean and that the nurses are very attentive. Im not sure what the videos provide, as if you have any issues once you get home, they will take their own xrays and tests anyway. I guess they could provide reassurance to the patient. Ive known of ladies that have asked for a.video of their surgery with Dr Kelly, that he has accomodated them. Just my two cents -
Ive heard of this quite a lot. From what I have seen, it will subside

The thought of your stomach folded into itself is just strange. And what would the long term affect be on that folded part? Just strange to me. I agree, its crap, just like the "crap" band, and the gastric ballon

Bananas? Good Or Bad?
cissiesue replied to gettinthinner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ser no harm in the occasional banana. Check the glycemic index on fruits and such. Try to stick to ones that are low on that index, and you're golden! Strawberries, btw, are a great option instead, low on glycemic index, and full of vitamin c -
Slowly Preparing Myself For Pre Op Diet
cissiesue replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been replacing one or two meals with a protein shake. Also "trying" to follow a diet that I set up in my fitness pal. Im still over 70 days out, so as the time gets closer, I will become more stringent. At 60days out, I will be totally weaned from diet soda -

Dr. Jaime Ponce De Leon Information?
cissiesue replied to BeautyVGSJourney's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I honestly understand your anxiety with all of this. But honestly, did you just call when you didn't get a response? I believe Dr Kelly is the best choice, and most of you have as well. In a few months all this drama will cool down and he wont have these issues. I think you should stick to what you've known and trusted this whole time, and not let a little blip in the road sway you. My two cents -
Ana (Dr. Kelly) Not Answering Emails?
cissiesue replied to AZ Sunshine's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
it's been a few days to get back to me as well. I got an email from ana saying that they had been hijacked, and that Omar is now handling the coordination part. She told me a while back, that she was the nutrtionist, and was filling in while dr kelly was transitioning from the coordinators. but I just literaly sent an email and got a response rifht back, like I had become accustomed -
It takes your body hours and hours to process more than 20ish grams of protein at a time. So if you use those shots, take only half at a time, and wait at least two hours, and then take the rest

Anyone Else Having Surgery In Mexico In June?
cissiesue replied to goofycathy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am with Dr Kelly! I know! I am getting confused... I saw someone suggest makina a calendar so we could keep track with eachothers dates and Dr 's. My issue is, that we are getting a settlement on june 5th, and I can't afford plane tickets until then! I priced them know at 4-5 days away and they are insane! Like 450, instead of 170. So that's the whole reason for the switch. I hate to put it off even one extra minute, but dang I can't justify that extra cost, when, at two weeks out, they Go back to the lower price.... -
Whoo hoo! Great job!

I know you're wanting to resleeve, but I would think you might want to look into the ds. Keep your options open, and talk to the surgeons about what they feel us best for you!
