Strangely....OMG i almost pissed myself laughing when i read your post!!! Quick thinking...
i saw a friend i have not seen since before surgery (she doesn't know about surgery)... she gives me a hug, holds me a arms length away and says... "something is different about you"... (i am positive she is going to say something about my weight loss... i have lost 50 lbs) ... she says: "i know what it is, you have a new haircut".... i felt so deflated ... my hair is just the same... but by then i was so dumbfounded i said "yea, you like it?".... why do i look to others for positive strokes?...
Sannah don't feel defeated, you will get the MRI done and then your sleeve! You are taking the steps to take care of YOU! & your steps will pay off... ((saving you a spot on the losers bench))

i am 59 years old and have been overweight all my life. Yes, i only wish i had done it sooner. <3
My highest weight was 328 in November 2011. That is when i started looking into WLS. With my wonderful husbands help, we went on high protein/low carb eating... all tests and appointments completed in March 2012... Surgery was May 2, 2012 and my surgery weight was 294...((-34 pounds pre-op)) i now weigh 244...... i take my measurements on the 2nd of each month....As of August 2, i have lost 50 inches total.... ((yes, 50 pounds and 50 inches since surgery))
i am sorry i rambled on and on.... i am just so happy with my WLS that i tend to go on and on....
yes- i would do it again...
good luck with your decision...

tjmom got a reaction from Lissa in Nsv... I Went From 5:45 Am To 5 Pm Without Using My Wheelchair...
sorry been so long since update...weather beautiful and just been busy.
i am walking more and more every day. Still need to do it mostly in the house (need immediate access to sitting down) but i did walk with my husband outside to the end of driveway and back...
i have been in a stall for about ... depending on Water retention i have been playing yo-yo with a couple pounds...so decided to measure.
Results: since surgery i have gone from 294 to 244.5 ((down 49.5 lbs)) and have lost a total of 50 inches... ((-9.5 off bust .. -4.5 & -5 off my L & R thighs.. to name a few))
49.5 lbs and 50 inches is a small child!!!
what a wonderful way to start my weekend!
I love my sleeve.

tjmom got a reaction from Spirit Fire in How Has The Vs Changed Your Personality And Approach To Life
i started out confined to a motorized chair or wheelchair....due to 2 back surgeries & doctor "wanting" to replace both my knees and one hip because of arthritis... i had been wheelchair bound for years...
i was 328 pounds...diabetic, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, asthma, and chronic fatigue to name a few issues.
talking to the psych doctor he asked me "what do you want to achieve by having WLS ? ... i said "better health, talk a walk with my husband"
when i started the process in November 2011 until surgery on May 2nd...i lost 34 pounds... so surgery date i weighed 294...
about a month ago, i started walking around my kitchen island ... then added down the hall and back... i have up'd my out of chair time til almost 7pm...
as of this morning i weigh 249....so down 45 pounds since surgery (13 weeks) and overall total of 79 lbs...
i also went for a walk down the driveway this morning with my husband !!! <3 ... a short walk but a walk none the less... life is great and getting better every day!

today i walked...
Lissa, you make sense about giving my body to relax... when i got up this morning the chair never crossed my mind. I was sitting in the kitchen eating roasted chicken breast for Breakfast before i even realized i was not in my chair....felt so good for it to "just happen"... wake up and walk!!!

tjmom got a reaction from Need-a-Sleeve in Nsv... I Went From 5:45 Am To 5 Pm Without Using My Wheelchair...
Today was a milestone for me... I have used a motorized chair off and on for 5 years ..but all day/every day (24/7) for the last 3 years...Reason: i have had 2 back surgeries (have some disc fused) & have arthritis in my back, hips and knees (to name a few) ...Doctor wants to replace both my knees, but that's another post.
Since my WLS, i have tried to walk a bit everyday...at first, just around the island in the kitchen... Then from one end of the house to the other... Last Monday i added short, slow walks outside with my husband...(he would ride in my motorized chair in case i needed it). The walks gave me the confidence i needed...
Today, when i woke up, i said, "lets see how long we can go today without using the chair." well, i went from 5:45am to 5 pm...i was so happy, i cried when i told my husband after he got home from work... (he thought i hurt myself...sweet man, so caring)
Physically, I am very sore....but mentally i feel GREAT!
Thank you for listening

thank you both...your comments are so supportive and encouraging...
Each morning, i sit on the side of the bed with my sore back and knees screaming at me for the strain i put them both through yesterday, by walking.
i pick up my phone, sign into VST and re-read every ones posts.... it warms my soul to have all this support!!!
i look at my motorized chair, and say: "not today. today i am walking. 1 hour or 10 hours, it doesn't matter. i AM going to walk today! "
thank you all for keeping me motivated!
