  1. Lmitchell, I "what if" everything to death so I know exactly what you are going through!! I fight with myself all the time not to worry about everything so much...having this site has been an awesome help to my nerves. Read up, try to avoid the negative stuff. I mean, educate yourself about the risks and complications but don't overdue it. Read the success stories...read what people are saying one year plus post-op. That will help lots!! Stay in touch!
  2. I had mine out years ago and went home same day...rested for the day and thru the evening and was up and about the next day...it was no big deal...soreness around the incisions was present but slight...and some people have irritable bowels when eating greasy foods but supposedly the sleeve doesn't care for too much grease either so ur good there...I was back at work 5 days later...believe me, u want to get that thing out before the "episodes" begin...I would rather give birth 5 more times with no anesthesia then EVER have that pain again!!
  3. Only a few more days May 1st Sleevers!!! Ur almost there!! Whoooo hoooo!!
  4. Ur very welcome...I can only pass this on because my husband has had to give me the same speech thru this process! LOL
  5. I love the GNC Lean 25 powders in French Vanilla and Mixed Berry. 25g protein per serving...
  6. I have had MANY things bad happen to me since I got approval...things trying to get in the way of me having surgery. I get frustrated at first. But then I remember that when we are trying to change our lives for the better, the devil always tries to come and steal our joy. I don't know if you are a spiritual person or not but don't let this road block get in your way...its a small one...move it!!
  7. In Beaumont TX...I am 33...with 4 kids....5'3" and weigh 252...started out at 258...
  8. I am sooo excited for all of us! I can't wait to see what our "new life" looks like!!
  9. I will be too when the time comes!
  10. Yep...I feel the same way...I used to be really outgoing. Now I only get that way after getting to know people...I hate drawing attention to myself!
  11. May 15th here and find out tues whether my liquid diet is 1 week or 2...he goes by BMI...I needed mine to be under 45 to qualify for the 1 week liquid diet so wish me luck!
  12. Keep us updated! Excited for you!!!
  13. Hugs and more hugs...I am prepared to struggle with this also. I am glad for this site because I learned this can happen to people who have had issues with depression prior to surgery and why it happens. The good thing is you know whats happening. The why is because of the release of hormones from your fat cells. Get in to see a counselor ASAP if you feel its necessary. There is NOTHING wrong with seeking help to get you through this and just know that when your body adjusts, this all will pass...I havent had surgery yet but have been on anxiety meds for years and have had struggles in previous years with depression due to LIFE stuff so I know what you are going through...rest rest rest...and keep up with protein and fluids and baby yourself as much as possible...
  14. I cant wait for the energy boost...I have definitely felt better since first seeing the NUT. She definitely has me seeing food differently. I have lost 6 lbs on my own. The more I pay attention to what kinds of things I am eating, the better I feel. But this weight still drags me down. I cant wait to have that energy back. So many things I love doing I havent done in forever because its painful and exhausting to be too physical...Cant wait, cant wait, cant wait...LOL
  15. I am soooo excited that I made the decision to be sleeved. My surgery is May 15th. Since getting approved, several things have gone wrong at my house and for a second after each incident, I considered the things going on might cause me to delay surgery. So I wasnt allowing myself to get too excited about it. Now that it seems the dark clouds are passing, it's really starting to sink in...I AM HAVING LIFE CHANGING SURGERY....I cant wait to be on the other side of it!!! The anxiety/excitement is killing me!! LOL, I find myself feeling out of sorts today and trying to keep myself busy. I have worked since I was 16 but am now a stay at home mommy with only one left that stays home all day so I find myself thinking about surgery WAAAAAYYY too much...I feel like I am jumping up and down inside all day...hehhehe Anybody else??
  16. Surgery May 15th...any sleeve sisters???
  17. Not good news but fixable....can't wait to see the same bloodwork results a year post surgery! Bet its a big difference!
  18. Oh I wish there were better answers...everyone says the pre op liquid diet is the worst part...haven't been thru it yet myself...hang in there!!
  19. That is just a generic answer...I called everyday...i have BCBS Illinois though...but I called everyday and they said that same thing to me everyday..however I was submitted on a thurs and approved that following Monday...hopefully it won't be much longer...keep calling even if they get snippy. This is your dream...make it happen!
  20. Hang in there...ur body is detoxing...rest when u need to and drink those fluids!
  21. Each of us has an OOP max of 3000 is the deal...I have mine saved up for my surgery. But if my husbands bill is 3000 too, and they force me to pay his in order to get my surgery, his will get paid and I will have to spend another 6 mths saving up for mine...we have 4 kids so most of our extra funds goes to raising them! Not much left over for saving lumps fast!
  22. Biotin is THE best...take daily starting now to strenghten your hair just in case and as soon as ur doc says its ok after surgery....also, get a good hair serum. I use Chi silk infusion and Peratin...I switch back and forth cause I like playing with products..LOL. the Chi should be easy enuff to track down.
  23. Short hair can be a double edged sword...sometimes easier to wash and dry but, depending on what style u get, harder to keep up with. If you cut it, keep it something simple. You will thank yourself if its low maintenance while you are healing. And it will grow back. Might not as fast as pre surgery...so know that. But you should be good to go!
