Can we smoke 6 days after the procedure?
tumblersmom replied to komi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not going thru anything & I am happy. Very happy actually. I don't like to be attacked either. Op asked a question & I answered with my own experience & said I was not recommending it. There are so many people on here who think they are holier than thou & I get tired of it. I'm sorry that some people have lost people to lung cancer. So have I. I lost my grandmother to it. But I also lost my great grandmother (gmas mom) to it who had never smoked a day in life. The way I see it it's my life I'll do what I choose. Hell I could get hit by a bus tomorrow. Ya know. Sorry if it sounded like I was attacking u but it's hard not to get defensive on this site anymore bcuz so many people think they have the right to judge everyone else just bcuz our decisions are not the same as theirs. -
Can we smoke 6 days after the procedure?

Self righteous so sorry it was the damn autocorrrect but where do u get off saying vsg isn't for people who smoke. U need to get over yourself. I did have surgery for both reasons to be healthier & look better. We all do so u can get over that 2. I believe I said I wasn't recommending it for anyone just giving my experience. Or did u forget to read that part. Seriously grow up. That's why I hardly come to this sight anymore bcuz so many people like u ruin it bcuz u can't say a damn thing without getting "flamed". Ridiculous -

Can we smoke 6 days after the procedure?
tumblersmom replied to komi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I smoked the day they let me out of the hospital & up to the week of surgery. Luckily my surgeon didn't test me before surgery. I'm not saying I recommend this for anyone so save your self riotous comments for someone else. But as for me it didn't slow down the healing process or anything else of the sort. I get tired of seeing all the comments about smoking & all the lectures. Just bcuz one person quit doesn't mean it's for everyone. I mean congrats to them for doing so but lay off the lectures. We're all adults & are going to do as we please. -

Incisions Are Itching
tumblersmom replied to KayKay20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine did. If they're itching they are healing. -
Usually eating too fast or taking too big of a bite will do it to me.

If You Had The Choice - Would You Do It Again?
tumblersmom replied to Babysteppin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you would have asked that question when I was about 5 days post-op I would have said NO!! But now that I'm almost 7 weeks out I would definitely do it again!! The first week was the hardest for me but day by day & week by week it gets so much better!! My sleeve can tolerate anything. I can eat anything I want just not much at all & that's exactly what I wanted!! I've lost 35 lbs in 7 weeks, I've never been able to do that before!! -
Omg! My External Appeal Was Approved!
tumblersmom replied to tumblersmom's topic in Insurance & Financing
I was denied bcuz my bmi was under 50. My advice is jump thru their hoops & fight for it!! I did an expedited internal appeal & then had to do an external appeal to an IRO (independent review organization) before I was approved. If you have to do appeals put as many medical facts in it as possible & explain why the vsg is the best surgery for you without making the letter to personal. -
I was cleared by my surgeon @ 10 days post-op to get in my pool.

1 Week Post-Op :)
tumblersmom replied to tumblersmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank You!! -
I was sleeved on 6-26-12. The first couple days I was miserable!! Wondering what in the world had I done to myself!! But day by day it has gotten better & am so thankful for that!! I came home from the hospital 11lbs heavier from all the fluids. As of today I have lost all 11lbs of fluid + 10lbs!! I am so ready to eat something "solid" but more excited to see the weight actually come off!! I have a long way to go but hey it's a start!!
-
Yeah I had no clue what I was doing either. Let me know if u have anymore questions.
-
I did an expedited appeal which you have to get a letter from your doctor to send with it to get a response in 3 days. Of course they denied that. Then I had to do an external appeal with an IRO (Independant Review Organization) and they approved it so now Highmark has to pay for surgery. If you have to do an appeal just make sure you put a lot of medical facts in your letter & state your case as to why the vsg is better for you than rny or the band.

Hello!! Yes I was but my bmi was 42. If your bmi is 50 or over you will be fine. If not prepare to fight for it. But it will be worth it bcuz my surgery is this Tuesday, June 26th!!
