    At The Hospital Now

Good luck! Sending prayers and happy thoughts~
  2. I was going over info from my Education Class and was calculating what my 60% EWL will be. Yeah, very discouraging. For those of you 1 or more years out, i was wondering what percentage you're at now? Did you meet or exceed the 60% or have you not met it or gained it back? Thank you
  3. Thank you, everyone, for your input! I'm reading your posts and seeing your current weights and I think that's AMAZING! You are all definitely helping me to stay focused. Thank you!

  7. All day education session tomorrow... *anxious*

  8. Yeah, that's too bad that we can't have that support system from the ones who matter to us, tho'.
  9. My husband and my mother are against it. H just thinks I'm being "lazy" and could dole the weight on my own (LOL oh, ok! Guess I shoulda figured that out when I was a kid). My mother is just worried about the actual surgery and is encouraging me to lose it on my own. Because of these responses, I just don't tell anyone anymore.

  13. Thank you all for your suggestions! Sounds like I have the info I need to get this ball rolling!
  14. I'm in the beginning stages of a WLS program for VSG. We need to lose at least 5% of our TBW. I was wondering if anyone had a good diet plan? We haven't met with a nutritionist yet and won't for awhile, so I would like to do all I can right now. *

    Omg

All of the above plus: *Being able to climb Koko Head (Hawaii) *Energy to do things instead of sit on my *a-hem* all day *learn to canoe paddle and join my kids' canoe club (too afraid I'll sink the canoe now) *not having my child be embarrassed about what I look like (sad, yeah, but true)
  16. I know the last post was a year ago, but I still have concerns about this mostly because some doctors say that acid reflux will deminish after VSG surgery and others say it will be worse. I'm so confused...
  17. Info session is DONE. :)

    My Dad Becomes A Sleever

Good luck and sending prayers for your dad! ~*~
  22. sdb, I'm sorry you're going through all that frustration. Have you read the initial posts on this thread? There's a link straight to the info about the current status of Medicare and Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. If you read it, it will explain why Medicare does not cover VSG at this time. It also goes on to say that it will cover it if it's part of a clinical study. In June, there will be a final decision about the coverage. Please take the time to read it. The info is there for you instead of getting nowhere by calling them and then having extra frustration.
  23. Cool! I'm born and raised on Oahu, but became a military brat so I spent a few years in WA as well. For me, VSG will only be covered in a Military Treatment Facility from the info I've been gathering from VST. Tricare will cover RNY and the Lap-Band, but won't cover VSG. As far as Medicare, us Tricare peeps are following the story because it seems that when Medicare begins to cover a procedure, Tricare follows (i.e. Lap-Band). I don't have Medicare, but I continue to follow the notes on VSG coverage in hopes that Tricare will begin to cover it as well. I guess I don't get the difference of what state you're in when it comes to Medicare coverage. I thought Medicare was Medicare. MEDICAID, on the other hand, I thought was state to state thing. Idk.
  24. FINALLY met my new PCM today and she put in the referral for me. one hurdle cleared... On to the next...
