  2. I started the WLS process March 2010 but chicken out because I wasn't mentally ready. I told myself I would give myself one last chance to do it on my own.

After a year my weight fluctuated up a few lbs and down a few. I was constantly at the dr getting tests done because the medications I was taking for high blood pressure and cholesterol were affecting my liver.

I decided I needed help. I had lap band surgery this past February and I'm glad I did. After a month I was off all my meds and I feel like a whole new person. I feared my personality would change but it didn't. I'm the same old me in a smaller healthier body.

Best of luck to you. This forum is helpful in many ways

  3. I've had my band for almost 3 years. I began experiencing problems almost from the first fill' date=' which was about a month after the surgery. I didn't recognize that reflux could be a big problem. Long story short, for the last year or so, without any Fluid in the band, nearly everything gets stuck, and i'm taking 5-8 antacid pills a day (1 is supposed to last 24 hours) for the reflux. Finally my father convinced me that I needed to have this thing evaluated (all the Fluid was removed a year ago after my final fill which resulted in my inability to swallow any liquids)...I had my EGD done yesterday which showed gastric ulcers and erosive esophagitis....dr said band is "fine", but with the horrible reflux and two episodes of vomiting blood within the last couple of weeks, he's agreed to remove it. It comes out in two weeks, and I am so hopeful to have a more "normal" way of eating! I love food. I love cooking, entertaining, and eating.

I thought this would be my magic bullet. I did manage to lose about 50 lbs...and gained back about 10....but this wasn't what I had hoped it would be. I I have really been suffering for a good 2 years now, and I'm tired of it...the reflux is nasty and painful, and I hate that everything I eat (even liquids, sometimes), gets stuck.

Just sharing my story because I've been reading some of yours and am so happy that I'm not alone in this battle. I'm happy for those of you who have succeeded with no problems, but I'm not one of you. Two weeks from today, I will be band-free, and I pray that things will get back to nearly normal soon thereafter. I've lost weight in the past with no band...and I can do it again with no band. I just want to feel better.[/quote']

You are first person I can relate to. I know the band works for most but for me it's not my friend. I've lost 80+ lbs in 7 months with no fill. Yet liquids manage to get "stuck" this week has been horrible I had to put myself on a liquid diet. I see my dr Friday to see how much damage this reflux is doing

  4. I'm hoping one of you may have an answer. I was banded 7 months ago haven't had a fill yet. Just recently I started getting a bloated full feeling like I can't take a deep breath. My dr ruled out h. pylori as that seems to be a to be a problem with me. It's worse while sitting and gets better when standing. Drinking/eating anything makes it worse

  5. I think it Depends on the couple and how they were before. I know some people who get along fine and some that their relationship has changed. In mine my hubs stopped being supportive but I expected this because unless it involves sports it won't keep his attention. My hubby has also became jealous more so because a lot of people have notice a big change in my body. In the end both have to understand this is for your health.

  6. I was banded 2/1/12 haven't had a fill and have lost 85 lbs. I do try to work out at least 4x a week for at least an hour. I know we shouldn't have more than a cup of food but the times I do I normally don't eat the next meal because I'm not hungry. There are also times (usually when stressed) that I feel tight so I don't make an attempt to eat solids so I'll stick with a Protein Shake.

We are all different and I think we just all need to try out what works best for us. I have to switch up my calories. Take a week of from exercising. The constant change helps me. But most important keep up with your Water intake
