  1. I hope I dont offend any one...but I do love my drinks now and again, and have been bummed because I am unable to have them right now....these beverages are made with agave for sweetness and have little to no sugar or fat...just watch the carbs....the beverage is called skin girl....

  2. I remember my first bite of real food, it was eggs mashed up and cottage cheese...oh delicious...I am losing weight quite fast as well, I just figured it was because of the diet they have me on and the fact that I have cut my calorie intake over half of what I used to eat....am I wrong? These first few weeks how much should I be losing? So glad to hear you are doing so well.

  3. I was not even aware that this thread existed...will this different thread be the place where we continue to keep in touch and share our successes?

Not sure it was just a suggestion....idk what everyone would like to do, but we could start our own folders with questions, topics would be easier to find...but like I said just a suggestion. I usually check both.

  4. I was already in a zumba class once a week, before surgery 2/29, but I am thinking that, because of all the twisting, it may not be something my doc will want me to do right away. My instructions say to start out with things like walking, swimming or bike riding. I guess it gives that area plenty of healing time by not stressing that area. May be different for some others with their doc orders.

Anyone feel free to add me to your friend list also. :0) I am mostly using this site on my android so haven't seen where I have the option to add. I think it would be great to have a monthy titled thread started for Feb 2012 bandsters so we can follow all the way through and actually be able to go right to that months thread for info, chat, feedback.

That is a great idea, there is an area for this, the web page already has months laid out, but I noticed mostly every one is replying here so I have veered towards this group and away from the other....If we all switched over to that group it would be beneficial considering we could start our own folders with questions.

How are you doing? Congrats on the weight loss, keep it up!

What do you do for work? I am a teller at a bank and am so glad my work is not to intense. I am back at work as well, I had my follow up last wed. I go in for my first fill on March 22nd. I am so glad, it sounds like your doing great!!! Are you going to start walking? I have Zumba and would love to do it but I do not want to push my self to fast to soon, even after they give me the go a head. Let me know how you like Zumaba.

  6. Hey all!!!

I was banded on 2/24, and have lost 16lbs with pre op diet and post op, so far...

I started using MFP recently to journal my food, and for exercise...

I'm looking for some buddies on their for support and encouragement ...

    Any takers? :)

    User name: quinnmc79

    Add me!

I am so glad you are doing so well!!! I have lost 22 so far. How is the healing process going?

  7. I am kinda concerned about my incisions. although I know that they are healing extremely well, the area around the incisions are hard, if I push a little its like there are balls sitting under my skin. Is any one else having this? Is it going to stay hard after healing? Anything I can do stop this from happening?

    Thank you!

  8. Feeling good 3 days post op LapBand my gas pains have gone away THANK GOD! My incisions are very itchy thought :/

Today we had a family picture session and afterwards we went to pizza Hut and surprisingly I wasn't to bothered by everyone around me eating pizza and me eating Jello & Atkins shake. :D

I plan to spend the day tomorrow really resting because Monday I return to work.

Your awesome, around pizza and not tempted....amazing!!! YOU GO GIRL!!

  9. Well this is rather funny---banded on Wednesday the 29th and I am up at 2:30 am in the morning feeling great!! I mean I slept on my side, just tired of being in bed. I am up watching a tivoed episode of People's Court and drinking some Protein. I feel really good!! I hope everyone who is in post-op status is doing well.

    Tammy

WOW , this is great!! I was doing really good my first post op night but not that well. I hav so happy for you!! Hope all is well being a few days out not.

  10. Also the Protein shake I love gives you options of getting it free. I have tried them all this one I am excited about. because of all the support, feedback from others, and recipes available to you. I now do two shakes a day and want to go to three because I love it so much. One thing it has done is curved my sugar craving. After I lost 150 pounds I was really being bad and eatting nothing but sugar (chocolate reeses). I was bored and lost on everything else I had consumed in the past. Somedays that is all I ate was chocolate, I was sabotaging myself. It was truly scaring me into becoming diabetic. Now since I have found this shake I don't crave the sugar like I did, I crave the shake, probably the caramel sugarfree Syrup makes it taste like I'm being bad. You can get that in your coffee aisles and will work in any shake. I just love this particular Protein because the flavor and all th Vitamins and support. There are so many different recipes I found to make your protein intake more enjoyable. I am a person though when I like something I stick to that one flavor till I get sick of it, but there are 100's of recipes available. I have the poduct on my website, if interested. If anybody needs some recipes just let me know, I know 100's. I am a women of habit, so I also eat nothing but chili, I will make a big pot of Soup and freeze in little containers, and pull them out when I need them. Through my experience you will find what works best for you, and when you find something you want to tell everybody. I am just trying to get these last 40 pounds off and it has really been a challenge for me. Hopfully I am back on track. If you go to the meetings (which I plan on doing) you also get so many ideas with what works with others.

Thank you for your feed back I will check out this drink..for the long term weight control. I will be checking your page... again thank you. Good luck and the last few pounds...you will get there in no time. just stay away from the sugar...I know how hard it is, but we will all support you. Take care

  11. I was so excite to see new flavors to choose from (like in the New whey) but when I checked he nutriantion label it lists collagen and my doctor said to stay away from those. I'm not banded until March 19 but start my pre-op Monday. I didn't think to ask why collagen was bad. I will see him on thursday and ask him, but I justed wanted others to know, that it may not fit into everyones diet.....I'm sad now. I thought grape might be fun. I'll let you know what he says.

My doc says these New whey are great for me...so idk, but try the nectar (syntrax) ones...they are delicious as well, just drink 2 or double up on the scoops...they are delicious as well, get the sample pack. Good Luck!!!

  12. Absolutely! I bought it from http://www.supplemen...d.asp?brand=221

It's $32 now (on sale when I bought it), but that's still a good chunk less than the $59 on the manufacturer's site. Also, supplementwarehouse lets you pick a bunch of free stuff to add to you order at no cost. I got a shaker, a bunch of Protein bars, a pill holder (mon-sunday), and a couple other things that I don't remember.

So before you place your order, make sure you browse through all of the freebies. They're quality product and what is better than FREE? :)

    Staci,

Thank you so much!! this is awesome information!! I will be checking this out. Free stuff is always good!

  13. Sophia,

Thanks for starting this topic. I am still at the pre-surgery stage, but I have been drinking 1-2 Protein shakes a day to try to get used to them and to try to lose weight before surgery. This information is going to be very helpful.

Awesome!! Glad we could help! Good Luck! Great job starting before the surgery! I did that for one week before and I found it to be very helpful for when the surgery was complete.

  14. I drink a chocolate Protein powder in my milk....I use the Idea chocolate Milk Diet powder from www.chocmilkdiet.com. Tastes great, mixes easily and no after taste. They sell chocolate and vanilla flavors and both are good.

I've also tried unjury protien powder. I don't like the chocolate and vanilla as much, but they also have strawberry (tastes good mixed in crystal light), unflavored (you can still taste the Protein flavor though) and chicken Soup. Tastes pretty good.

I've tried the ready to drink muscle milk light chocolate and it was pretty good. I've heard their cake batter flavor is awesome. I will buy that one next.

One other I like is the Syntrax nectar Cappuccino flavor. I don't drink coffee but this one is good and tastes like a frosty coffee drink and no caffeine.

I tried the Gladiator powder from GNC and didn't care for it. The same with the Isopure ready to drink and the fruit flavors of Syntrax.< /p>

My advice is to buy small sizes or sample pack and try before you commit to a large container. I threw away several after only 1 drink. Blech.

Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Thank you, I will be trying that cake batter as long as the sugar and fat is low. I think muscle milk is usually pretty good about that.

I am loving this topic. have a great night.

  15. I also use the Syntax nectar Protein powder.. although I use the "Nectar Naturals" because it uses Stevia instead of Splenda as a sweetener.

Shop around online. You can find it way cheaper than through the Syntax company website. I bought mine for like 24 dollars in a big 2 pound container.

I 100% vouch for the Natural Orange flavor. I mix it with Water and a tiny bit of fresh pineapple juice. Perfect. It's good all by itself too. Or mixed into vanilla yogurt. :)

Thank you I will be looking that one up, is there any way you can post the web site you use?

  16. My recommendation for evey future lapbander... GET A RECLINER BEFORE SURGERY! I didn't think about what I would need to keep myslef comfy after surgery I just worried about making sure I had the right food. I borrowed a recliner from my mother so I'm hoping tonight will be a restful night. The gas is worse then the incisions.... oh taking about incisions 1 of my small ones cracked open Dr Dietrick says this is okay to just keep it dry. I do not regret my choice to have this surgery I just wish the gas pain was easier to deal with...

I slept in our recliner all week!! I attempted the bed 3 days after surgery and regretted it, ended up back in the recliner. I second the recliner suggestion, borrow, yard sale, or new, it wont matter when it is covered in a blanket or sheet to keep you comfy.

  17. what a marvellous idea to have this section. im not banded yet, wont be for a few weeks, but this is giving me so many ideas on how to manage diet post op. i was really worrying a lot about managing it all, to tell the truth. Thanks to the person who started this thread up, and thanks to all those who have and are going to contribute to it. im making copious notes here. lol. way to go.

You are very welcome, anything we can do to help one another. I know the post op is hard for a lot of people and I feel that is because they are not well informed of how to make the transition easy, well as easy as it can be. I am so glad you are on here researching before you go in to get banded and I am glad I have helped you. We will all continue to support one another and keep us on track.

  18. Thank you for the information do you know if any stores sell New Whey liquid Protein

I got mine from Walmart. They have 1-3 flavors depending on your store I paid 2.49 for each one.

I went to the Vitamin Shoppe yesterday and they had about 8 of the flavors, paid 3.49 for each. I would assume most places with Vitamins would carry them if you dont have either of these near you.

  19. To my fellow Feb bansters, I have started a Protein drink/shake board in the food and Nutrition section, I would love if you all visited the page and either gained some knowledge or leave some knowledge, so we can grow and have variety in our beverages since some of us can get board pretty easy.... :P

    Have a great night...

  20. Hello Every one,

I am Sophia and I have just recently started my band journey. I was banded on Feb 24th 2012!! I am happy to say I am doing very well, and I am headed back to work after a week of being off.

One thing I have noticed in a lot of the forums is that people are having a hard time getting the amount of Protein required and recommended by their doctor. I have been very blessed, following in a couple different peoples foot steps, so I have a heads up on variety, this way we don't get board, get as much Protein as you possibly can in one drink, and did I mention variety. :P I don't know about you but I can only stand so much chocolate, vanilla, and strawberrie mixes.... also the thickness of some of those Protein drinks...can we say gag..lol

I am going to start a list of the ones I have started using, along with a web sight so you can see what they look like, these should be able to be purchased at a local Vitamin shop near you.

    0g fat, 0g sugar, 100 cal, 24g PROTEIN, 60 mg sodium, 160mg potassium, 0g carb

These taste like different flavors of kool-aid. yum yum....

    web site: Main site: http://www.si03.com/

Location of product: http://www.si03.com/reg_index.htm http://www.si03.com/reg_index.htm, if you call the number on this page they will send you samples of each flavor for 13.00 for 13 flavors....some are to die for...I havent done it yet but some of their flavors you can mix and come up with other flavors.

My goal here is to give you some knowledge on what delicious Protein Drinks are out there and to help you decide where to go next on your protein journey. Please feel free to add different recipes below that you may love...ie, my nurse love to mix the protein blitz with a scoop of her Protein Powder (orange flavored) so she has a 50g or higher protein drink! mmmmm

I am excited to see what else every one has come up with on the journey being banded...

Take care and have a wonderful day!

  21. I am not sure if I can be much help.... I am in the strict stage... I just had my band place, and I notice one of the things I am afraid of is getting away from Protein. My doc says protein makes ur body work harder thus burning more calories... They want me to get in 80 grams of protein a day. So I have one drink that is usually between 20-40 grams of protein and then other items( ie cottage cheese, eggs ect)I have thought about drinking two just so I make sure I am getting in enough cause I am not able to eat a whole lot. I found a lot of my items at the Vitamin Shoppe. I hope this helps u a little, don't be so hard on ur self 10 lbs is a lot better than 20 or 30. U will be fine. Oh and one other thing I have been told stay away from sugar, I know it's hard but anything that has a sugar ( or fat) that is greater than 5 grams. Don't eat it.

Those are the basics I have to stick to and I know u can too!

  22. I personally would get a different doc. One who will take time with u. My doc spent 3 hours with me my first pre op visit!!! And most of the time he is behind schedule because he loves his patients and wants the best for them. I am sorry r going through this. I am newly banded so that is the only advice I have. Hope it helps. Good luck.
