    A La Board, Banded 8/30/12

This sounds the best! I wonder if Sam's Club has something similar? I don't have a Costco membership.

Fabby, from what ive been reading EVERYBODY has a different idea about what a "good" shake should taste like. Ha. For me, I like the chocolate and strawberry EAS brand (premixed, 17g protein, 4 carbs, 110 cal) and I like another called Protein Pure (premixed, 23g protein, 6 carbs, 120 cal), although the latter one can sometimes taste a bit sickeningly sweet to me. I don't really like the taste of Isopure but is zero carbs and 40 g protein! Lastly, ha, ive heard really good reviews about Unjury, but I have yet to try it myself. I was promoted to eating mushies today so I'm not even thinking about protein drinks right now. Lol. Not really true, but you know what I mean...
  6. I'm home for the day and tired. Infact, i was just going to take a nap. However, after reading your recent post, I have instead decided to take a long walk. You truly do inspire!!! Thank you so much for your honesty and willingness to help other wls folks!
  7. Had my first post op appt today... can't begin to describe how happy i was to know i can add a few mushy foods to my diet! Cottage cheese and refried beans never tasted sooo good. A+ day!

    Zinc W Copper

Hmm... I need to ask about this. Ive only been instructed to take a multivitamin and at six weeks start taking calcium citrate?! I have a followup appt tomorrow... I need to make sure I'm following what's expected of me. :/

    A La Board, Banded 8/30/12

I was banded 8/31 and I feel like a major whiner because I WANT FOOD! I have a followup appt tomorrow so ill know more about what I can and cannot have. I'm woo ready for mushies. ive been food obsessed, like in the "old dieting days." I'm down with making smart food choices... but where are the choices?! Lol. Other than headaches and nausea my first couple days post op I haven't any discomfort (unless you count my head hunger!). The heating pad and going for walks have been a huge help for my gas. But, again, ive been very lucky with that too. No dreaded shoulder pain that ive heard so much about. I'm glad I found your post because Ive certainly wondered how others in my shoes are fairing. I feel like, of course I'm losing weight - I'm not eating!! Lol nd

  12. Thanks so much for posting... I'm going to print it out and keep it as a motivational tool. It goes to show that even an occasional small loss over the course of a month is still a huge success.

207 Lbs Gone... 10 Lbs To Go

I adore your honesty... and find you truly inspirational!!!! Congrats to you again and again.
  14. You are not alone. My surgeon had me on Clear Liquids 24 hours prior to surgery, and of course, nothing to drink or eat after midnight the night before. However, just like you, I was wondering what the heck he was thinking as I had read time and time again that shrinking the liver was of utmost importance before bariatric banding. I decided to place myself on a liquid diet several days before surgery just in case. My surgeon poked a little fun at me and asked me why I felt the need to punish myself. ha. Actually I just wanted to get on with the WLS gig! When I asked my surgeon why he didn't require it. He said it has never been a problem for him and that all surgeons are different. Some feel more comfortable with 'shrinking' the liver. Obese people have fatty livers and so losing Water means you lose it in the liver too, so maybe for some surgeons it makes it easier for them to manipulate things or gives them a better comfort level. My surgeon who is also the president and medical director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at the hospital he is associated with, is seemingly a bit arrogant, but comes across exceedingly confident with his pre op instruction. As you continue to learn more about banding (pre op & post op) you will find that opinions are so varied... it can drive you crazy if, like me, I like things "black & white." ha. Just continue to ask questions and listen to YOUR surgeon. Afterall, apart from you, he/she is the one most vested in your surgical outcome. Best of luck! I'm 4 days post op and feel great!

    1St Doc Appt On Friday

I've only been banded for 4 days, so I really rely on the information from other more experienced band'sters and my surgeons office. But, what I was told is walking is golden from as early on as possible... all other exercise, like arms, legs and core muscle building should wait until six weeks post op. Your doctors office will definitely give you the answers you'll want to follow. Best wishes. It's sure to be an exciting journey!

Pizza Ordered! Ready For My Pina Colada!

Ive been food obsessed too. It's kinda making me mad. Lol! I am already counting the days until I get real food!! Like you, I'm still feeding the family and the smells are, oh, so, good! But I know we can do this. I wanted it too badly to mess things up now. Hang in there... there are a lot of us "out here" looking to each other for hope!
  18. I can totally appreciate your "venting!" How flipping frustrating!! I sure hope you learn more about what's causing your squeezing and palpitations. Sounds frightening. Please let us know what you find out. Best wishes.

    Three Days Post Op

I'm 3 days post op too, and I'm nowhere close to getting it all in. Ive been wondering the same thing... We'll get there!
  20. Day 3 Post Op: Well, i think the worst of my nausea is behind me!!! So happy about that. I stopped my pain meds after the throwing up fiasco. Now i just need to be more diligent about getting all my fluid intake. I'm not managing what is required... yet. However, on a more positive note i can totally see where i lost my 17lbs of water weight (12 pre op diet & 5 post op surgery)! Every bit of it came off my calves and ankles. Except for ugly feet my lower legs actually...

    Staying Positive Not Always Easy

I would totally feel just as you do. I have been telling myself from day one that I will need to be patient and forgiving of myself, but having to really exercise that sentiment is a whole different thing. Hang tough and keep us posted. I'm looking to you and others on this forum to keep me strong. (I'm only 2 days post op so I also have a lot to learn!) Best wishes Domika03!!
  23. Nausea has the best of me. Threw up pain pill and nausea pill last night. So afraid my band slipped becsuse of it. Even thinking about water has me feeling sick. Im kinda sad that my body is reacting this way. I feel so queasy!! :(
