  1. only you can decide if it is the right choice. my bmi was 62...i was as wide as i am tall...i really didnt give a flyinfg f**k if anyone thought it was stupid...they were not the ones who was beginning to have trouble wiping their butt. if you do this, do it 100% if you dont, the only one it hurts is you.
  2. what a complete crock of crap....reading that was...
  3. you learn to cook just what you need........like aj, my dobermans love leftovers...
  4. let me add, to be a success, a person has to help the band. if you do this, you stand a great chance of losing. if not, you wont.
  5. the first line of your post said this: " several people who've had adjustable gastric bands or lap bands fitted, looking for a 'quick fix' weight loss program" in my opinion, the ones who complain the loudest against are the ones who divert away from the band lifstyle. however things do happen. any surgery has complications. its a chance one takes. if i did not have this surgery, i would be over 400 pounds by now....
  6. did you discuss this (research) with your doctor? nothing is guaranteed in life..but i accept this..i expect my band to be with me forever...wasting time worrying about something that may or may not happen is just silly..embrace this tool and think of how much healthier you are about to be this year. things do happen...complications arise...that is what life does..so you can either take the risk or put it off and get bigger....i chose to take the risk and am down 101 pounds....
  7. well, for me, if i (think) i am hungry, i drink something...and if doesnt (help) i must then decide to eat or not and if i do, it is protein and filling....i realized this on my pre op and that if someone is eating around me or its (lunch time) at work, i wanna eat...so now i am in control..i eat when i am hungry.
  8. i have a very large tattoo that covers my entire back and that hurt far worse than this surgery... yes, i would do it again...no regrets
  9. well take it as it won't do that always..just keep healing and continue to live the band lifestyle
  10. to me any loss is good.....i am not sure i understand what you are asking/questioning
  11. i have met some awesome people on here that are and have been with me every step of the way. i am sure they will be with you also.
  12. the band is helping me eat less its up to me (as my dr told me) to eat better food and live the band rules you gotta want it and adhere to the lifestyle or your will be on here saying why isnt it working?
  13. maybe eating too fast......too big of bites....could be anything, why its important to tell your dr if you are concerned
  14. your swollen inside and hence why it (hurts) or is difficult to swallow please continue taking baby sips...i lived on sf popsicles my first week if you dont, they will put you on iv as you can get dehydrated.. so sip and keep on doing it
  15. you make yourself go potty when you got to go you stop at gas station when your car needs gas and you drink when you are thirsty so (make) yourself take a walk..long or short....as long as you do it. i could barely walk to the end of my short driveway or down my long hall at home but i did it anyhow.....doesnt matter how far you walk or go.... as long as you do it.. this is my encouragement to you
  16. when i woke up from surgery, my dr told me he repaired one that i had. didnt know i had one nor ever heard of it and hadnt a clue as to what it was... i guess you can tell him to fix it if he see's one...but i am guessing they would anyhow.
  17. pre op depends on your dr and insurance same with the wait at seminar to surgery many variances.
  18. eating so soon after surgery? your insides are still swollen..you need to let your dr know
  19. on your surgery date, i want you to think this:
  20. i dont have any fills so i have to aware and also careful not to overeat the dr gave me a allotted amount to eat and i stick with it...i cant (fall back on my fill to help stop me)...i look forward to that in the future...i didnt get to over 300 pounds by not being a emotional eater.. now 8 months post op, knowing i have this extra helper inside me has given me support and a peace of mind..it will help me if i let it......just yesterday, i was struggling with some friend whom i thought was my friend and of course my daily work issue......before i would dive into bags of chips or hit my beloved mickey dee's.. now i take a time out walk up and down the halls at work take a bath get lost in my adult contemp books i read and talk with my lap band girls.. that is how i handle emotional eating now. def you will realize you are stronger mentally than you think you are
  21. probably scar tissue forming and healing...if overly concerned let you dr know on monday
  22. i would use salsa in place of the seasoning as that is all salt. otherwise, sounds good to me
