heck no
i am looking forward to the holidays
i am gonna eat some of this and some of that
and drink me some wine...and enjoy being w/my hubby
3500 calories is a pound ate or drank whether its Christmas or July 4th
if we eat more calories than we burn off, we will gain..holiday or not..
so if we over do it calorie wise, get right back on it
one heavy meal wont make us gain 20 pounds....
enjoy it....i know i am

heck yeah i did
i ate normally right up to the day i started pre op..
talk about a eye opener....found out what head hunger is and that its real
but it also showed me i am stronger mentally then i gave myself credit for...WE all are.
you can eat things you like in the future, just not as much and once you see how
much better you feel, buying smaller clothes etc, you may not want tooo
hang in there
-
wasnt even home yet and the warden aka my ole man called on the phone
and said me and kabo the doberman are waiting on you to get home so we can walk....
GEESH..let me get home to pee
but i did walk.......feeling GREAT

because we can (doesnt mean we should)
we are strongly mentally than we allow ourselves to be
so often i read of stalls...some like a week post op
i dont believe in that...stay the course..to me it just means
the scale hasnt caught up yet...up and down/yo yo scale.i lived that
most of my adult life..i no longer do that...i judge my loss on my clothes
aka my jeans ♥
there was once a time i could only wear 5x stretch skirts
and now i am wearing jeans daily...what a difference 2 yrs makes......
motivation...that works for me

if you are concerned about your band (*slip/stretched*), go to the dr and under fluro let them have a looksee and THAT will ease your mind on that level...def get back to basics.mind over matter..remember why we wanted to have this surgery in the first place...just because we can eat more than we (*should*) doesnt mean that we should...i am guilty of that myself...that being said, i see nothing wrong with liquids, soft etc.but its a day in and day out type thing..eating Protein first, veggies and some fruit and drinking a lot and exercise...you did it before and you CAN do it again...

I cringe everytime I hear someone use the word "journey" when describing any life realted event - not just for WLS. I've never felt comfortable using the word... so I'm not knocking anyone that likes to use the word. But I finally found my word - adventure. What's your favorite word to describe your "adventure" in WLS?
*LIFE*
having my WLS of choice gave me my life back
i am not being dramatic...i could not put my socks on
i had trouble wiping my ass and i could hardly walk
i was losing my life day by day..my surgery saved me
and when i saw it was (working) that spurred me on to
help it...LIFE...what a great thing.

Weighing yourself is part of losing weight and keeping it off. You Celebrate when you see a “good” weight, and you reconsider your diet and exercise when the number’s not what you hoped. The number on the scale keeps you accountable, but it’s not the only way to measure success. Weighing yourself is important, but doing it too often can hold you back. How often do you weigh yourself?
- Every day, and I record (or remember) it as my “official” weight.
- Every day because it keeps me focused, but I only count it as an “official” weigh-in once a week
- Every week, to monitor how I’m doing.
- Just once a month. I have plenty of other things to worry about besides what the scale says.
- Not often anymore. I’m at my goal weight or I’ve been losing weight long enough that I know how I’m doing.
- Other. Let us know in the conversation below!
Mark your answer and then explain it in the discussion below! We want to know how weighing yourself fits into your weight loss plan!
i weigh only when i go see my dr
i use my clothes as a sign of a loss
(inches lost aka clothes getting big show me i am losing)
and losing inches is true/accurate weight loss
*PS, if one is claiming they are in a stall, stay with the program and eventually
the scale will catch up...focus on something positive and get off i am in a stall, help me
or what am i doing wrong...stay the course/keep doing what you are doing*

of course pre and post op, Liquid Protein was vital to get our content up
of course the best way to use Protein is to eat it...but with our lifestyles, sometimes
that can be hard to do...i drink a Protein Shake every morning.....sometimes one in evening
if i desire a chocolate shake (*i like the taste of the one i use*)......and i say use what works
but do not let liquid be the save all for nutrition.

i am from NC, and the best way one can control sugar/salt etc is to make your own sauce
here is my fave NC vinegar (mop) sauce:
1 1/2 cups of distilled vinegar
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon brown sugar (but have used splenda before)
1 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons crushed red pepper
2 teaspoons finely ground black pepperThen pour all the ingredients into a jar and shake. The more it settles, the better it becomes.
Here is a quick go to BBQ/tomato based sauce:
2 1/2 c. catsup1/4 c. brown sugar (you can lower this or use splenda)
1 tbsp. mustard (add more mustard if you desire kick
1/4 c. onions, diced (or use flakes)*for flavor add tabasco or even liquid smoke*mix it up and use -
my goal is enjoy being with my hub and enjoy my life as it is now...my lap band/plication will help me not eat as much and i will eat some of this and some of that...i am not worried about losing/gaining weight..i am more focused on what these coming holidays mean...family....i recently lost my mom, my inlaws both sick (father in law colon/liver cancer) and my son and his family over in england....THIS to me is what is important.
this means i will still be aware of choices and i will continue to walk daily..its a regular day...

(cheating) on diets is what most of the world does
we are ONLY cheating ourselves however and we know what we are doing when we do it so its not cheating..its a decision we make and choose to do...its a decision you made to do
we know its wrong or we would not ask did i do bad, did i mess up etc..we already know that answer
if you call and tell your doctor, what would they say to you?
most people would NOT call their doctor and so call (confess)
we are normal...however if we continue to think like a dieter, we will get no where...dieting doesnt work...we need to retire that dieting person if we are to be successful in getting healthy and losing weight..all of us on this forum or others failed at dieting so we sought out surgery to help us..WLS will help us lose weight...but WE need to help it.
the reality is this:
3500 calories is a pound (ate or drank) whether its lettuce or doritos or cubed cheese..
it is your decision to use your WLS aid of choice as your doctor advised for best results..
that is our job.. we just need to do it..

So im,2 weeks out on the puree diet and can no longer hold the secret but I'm cheating I eat plantain chips and corn with flax seeds chips and chunky Peanut Butter. I eat meats that aren't canned and I had Popeyes mashed potatoes. I know I should not have Crunchies but honestly I'm not going to lie I'm sick of this "sheltered" life I just want to be "normal". I don't feel pain with my sleeve and I even snack which isn't in my diet plan at this point. (The chips I'm eating aren't high in fat or sugar or carbs)
Ugh be nice to me but tell me to stop! Or tell me I'm okay. I don't know this is annoying

not cheating..its a decision we make...its a decision you made to do...and you know its wrong because you feel bad about it..
eating foods so soon after surgery can be harmful
our insides MUST heal..so its not a good thing...

stay busy, read, shop, have sex and drink a lot
you need to stop living to eat and now eat to live..
best of luck

Terry and B52 were right on
no matter what WLS one has chose to get
UNLESS the person changes, it wont work...
any WLS can work
any WLS can fail
some have complications
some have not a problem ever
best to listen to your dr and follow his instructions for the best results
as with life, results will vary...

i have never been called skinny
dont think i ever will
but i do enjoy hearing my hub say i am sexy as f**k
even if i dont see it when i look in the mirror
he said, seeing a woman, any size, walking with head up and confidence
is sexy...so lets work it ladies regardless of our size.....
-
mine hit hard on like day 4 to about 8 or 9
pain meds help as does heating pads or stand in a hot shower and let
the Water hit the shoulder.....def keep moving and do windmills with arm (even if hurts)
as one morning you will walk up and its going to be gone ♥
-
got home from work yesterday
put on my black/purple sneekers with pink skull laces
and got hub and kabo the doberman and off we went
i was speed walking.....what made me feel good was
hearing hub say *wait up* ♥
-
you need to tell your dr
sipping wee bits should be doable
you are def swollen but if you are throwing up, or cant sip
you need to let the dr know...being dehyrdrated is not the way to go
(if you can, try SF popsicles while waiting for your dr to sch an appt)
-
sometimes i have one daily and sometimes i have them and dont realize it...
i still consider me just walking a NSV that i am forever to my WLS of choice for..
oh, and putting my own socks on w/o asking my ole man to do it for me♥
-
i feel no one WLS is better than the others
some have great results with any WLS and some have no so great results
things happen, good and bad with any WLS
i say choose the one you and your doctor feels is right for you and that you will do as he advises for the best results..unless one changes what they eat and begins to move, no WLS will work...WLS will help us eat less and this is true...but 3500 calories is a pound ate or drank be it milkshake or a Protein bar or grapes...we must simply burn off more calories than we take in and this is for any WLS or those who have not had WLS surgery.
@@lisacaron was right on that it is not a quick fix...those who go into thinking that are the ones who seem to have the most issues..my opinion..the person has to change in order to the WLS of their choice to work.
my ins did not approve sleeves and i was too scared to have the bypass
i have the lap band and plication. i was a starting BMI of 62. it was either make myself well or get cut out of my house one day.
best of luck to you in whatever you and your doctor feels works for you.
-
some do and some dont
best to do what your doctor advises you to do for your best results

What was your most recent NSV? (non-scale victory)
in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Posted
here is a odd NSV i just noticed day before yesterday
before surgery i could not put on my socks..i was too large to do this
and yep hub had to do it...well i can now..but i noticed the socks
the socks were on my ankle and when i went to take them off
i noticed they were not on my (cankle) like a sausage wrap
the sock was on properly and no stretch/too tight marks when it was removed
that is what i wanted to share.
