if you continue to eat healthy, exercise and are feeling awesome and THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, losing inches (clothes getting big and baggy) then YOU are no in a so called stall (i dont believe in those btw and 100% agree with go walking)....stay the course and watch what happens.......success

    permanently banned foods?

no foods should be banned per say.....some are just not that good for us (but tasty none the less) pick and choose and enjoy....regardless, 3500 calories ate or drank is a pound (whether it is lettuce or tuna fish or bbq chips)....its a lifestyle change not a (banned foods) change .........just my thoughts.
  4. refried beans with shredded cheese and salsa..........still eat that now good stuff

Horrible chest pain 2 days post op

yes, major surgery inside your body and the swelling from that plus the gas they used are all causes of this...please just relax...dont take deep breaths as you know it hurts..i am letting you know it does and it will get better....if you want to, tell your dr tomorrow and let them ease your mind.

    Friend sabotaging me?

you cant worry about whatever anyone does or says you EAT/DRINK what works for YOU...maybe you will be an example to her who knows. YOU control how others make you feel.. this is about YOU getting your health back....best of luck.
  16. nearly 2 1/2 yrs banded no issues just a better (quality) of life (which is what having WLS means) but i can now do things i couldnt do before (IE: wipe my ass, walk, put my socks on)...... saved my life.....

    I'm 5'5" , 370# which surgery?

@ Carolinagirl How much have you lost? Surgery date? Hi There I have lost 170 pounds (6/612 was my surgery date) no issues what so ever...I make good food choices and let the band tell me (when).... Best of luck whatever YOU decide no one WLS is better. some have better outcomes for whatever reasons some WLS have complications and some dont...its a shame some say neg things about any surgeries..i find that off putting...in the end, it doesnt matter what you have...whatever you get, use it as doctor advises for best results...better health is the reason we all chose WLS.......

    I'm 5'5" , 370# which surgery?

i agree with you Jim i started out with a BMI of 62 and standing a very tall 5'1 on a good day..... it can be done with any surgery.. calories in and out and exercise works with any WLS
  19. 3287 + 170 = 3457 well done one and all
  20. ☠carolinagirl☠

Alcohol + summer = slow weight loss

food calories are the same as drink calories 3500 calories is a pound ate or drank and if anyone eats/drinks more calories than they can burn off...they will not lose and may gain....its cals in vs cals out.. i say enjoy
  21. if you are hurting, in pain or concerned, always call and let your doctor know what is going on..
  22. ☠carolinagirl☠

Is it ok to drink out of a straw?

my dr (as others above) said no straws for me also i agree with colleen......call and ask your doctor and get their response what works for someone may not work for you PS: for best results, always follow what your doctor advises... (even if someone else is doing the opposite). congrats on surgery
  23. ☠carolinagirl☠

    Hello ladies and gentlemen

whatever WLS you and your doctor decide to get, if you use it as advised, it will have the best results...the surgery itself will only do so much (and many people who struggle are finding that little tidbit out)....the person MUST change how they eat, what they eat and most important their THINKING i was super morbid obese.starting BMI of a massive 62 (i am very short so i was as wide as i am tall)...it was either or for me.....i had to make that change....so i wish you nothing but luck...write down questions you have and ask your surgeon as it relates to you...on this forum you will get good and bad, on all WLS and this is better and that is better and such...but this is about YOU...getting well means healthier weight and better quality of life...go for it...
  24. losses via inches/pounds/BMI varies per person per doctor per various reasons.. i have the lap band w/plication..i have lost 170 pounds...starting bmi of 62..to me, that is what matters me losing and not getting so hung up on %'s and comparison shopping. have the WLS you want and will use as advised by your doctor and get well...

    Mortified of band failure

what if nothing goes wrong and you lose weight and get healthy? any surgery (including WLS (all types btw) have risks.. but so does walking across a busy street..
