  1. I did. I wanted the band but I believe it was the surgery itself that scared me. I had tried everything to lose the weight but the most would be 10-15 lbs. I would go to the gym 4-5 days a week. I would tone up but still not lose weight. I second guessed myself up until they came to get me for the surgery. My husband told me if you don't go through with it now you will regret it tomorrow and everyday after. I knew he was right. It is the best thing I have done for myself. I know I am not losing as fast as some but am happy with what I have lost so far on my journey. Whatever you decide I hope it goes well for you.
  2. I myself can't eat anything for about 3 hrs after I get up. If I drink it has to be tiny sips or it won't go down. I just plan around it.
  3. I don't drink for at least 30 min after eating. I tried once just to get a taste out and it was so painful, so I believe it is more a fear of the same pain. So I don't think I will. But that is just me. Will be interesting to see others thoughts.
  4. I had mine done in morehead. He also has a office in swansboro but does the surgery in morehead.
  5. Thanks for sharing. I have often wondered how I will look when I have reached my goal and if I will need/want to have any surgery. You look great. Again thanks for sharing.
  6. I remember thinking " what did I do to myself". Now I think " this is the best thing I have ever done for myself". It gets better. Once you start full liquids then the mushy stage, it gets better. Then on to solids. Don't get me wrong it is a lifestyle change, but as long as you do what you are supposed to, you will be ok. Good luck with your journey. It is worth it.
  7. I had my Dr Apt April 15 and was 198.7. I was so excited I finally made it to under 200. I haven't been under 200 for over 15 years. Well I weighed yesterday and had gained 2.5 lbs and weighed in today and gained another .5. I am so confused. I am doing everything the same. It's not that time of the month as I had a hysterectomy several years ago. Any advice please? I was wondering if I should do protein drinks again. Very upsetting as I was so excited last week. I am doing this on my phone so not sure if my profile will show up as I am getting ready for work. Thanks in advance.
  8. That sounds good to me. My Dr wants me to lose 1 lbs a week. Last month I lost 8 lbs and he said it was too much.
  9. I may take leftovers from dinner or chicken salad or tuna salad with Special K crackers, fruit (grapes or cutie) and raw veggies (carrot sticks and cucumbers) although it is only a couple of each I do enjoy them.
  10. My Dr. Note just said I would be under his care and would be out for two weeks, giving the date I would return. I only told a few people at work(close friend) and if any one says anything because they notice I am losing, I just say thanks and a working hard and am exercising. I hope your journey goes well and good luck.
  11. One of my favorites was cream of potato. I put in the blender before cooking. I enjoyed tomato also. Enjoy.
  12. Yes, I would do it again. One of the best decisions I have made. The difference from this time last year is amazing. I have so much more energy, I feel so much better, and I believe I am healthier. My knees don't hurt as much and I don't wake up in the middle of the night with a back ache. I honestly don't believe I would have lost the weight I have without. I know I have more to lose but am happier than I have been in a long time. I can shop for clothes now without crying. It has not been easy and some time can get frustrating but so worth it.
  13. If you are snowed in and have Epsom salt it works. There are directions on the box. It is nasty but works. Use warm/hot water it works better than cold.
  14. I had a stomach virus a couple of weeks ago. Tried so had not to throw up. It lasted for 3 days and I threw up four times. I discussed it with my doctor and he told me not to worry about it, it happens. He would be more worried if I had just recently had the surgery. Of course he said try not to let it happen to much but from being ill not to worry to much.
  15. I couldn't believe the shoulder/neck pain after surgery. I used a heating pad and gas x strips. I walked a lot also. I had read on here about it but until you experience it you don't quite understand how much it does hurt. I hope you feel better and do call your doctor if it will reassure you.
  16. I like the Leslie Sansone Walking DVD's. I have 5 different ones. I borrowed the Zumba DVD's from a friend. I used them for a few days and could not do them any longer. Hurt my knees and back. I will stick to the walking DVD's. I also have a elliptical machine so I alternate.
  17. 2mucfun thanks for posting the video. Very informative and helpful. It does get frustrating. I know my friends and family keep telling me this but still frustrating. I liked the visual.
  18. I just started the fiber gummies. They are pretty good, not what I was thinking they would taste like. I hope they work as I was not liking the powder.
  19. Congratulations. I hope you do we'll with your journey. Just follow your doctors orders and you should well. Good luck and I hope you continue to do well in your recovery.
  20. It is less invasive, faster recovery time, reversible, and I know some one who had gastric bypass and gained it back.
  21. I also have tricare. My doctor is not on base but out in town. He put in my referral and it was approved. I had my approval before I went to the seminar. Also, I know some tricare regions have you go through a 6 month diet plan with your Dr. Hopefully you don't, as I was very disappointed I had to. Although I did seem to be more prepared as I had longer to get ready for it. Good luck.
  22. I went back and forth on this right up to surgery day right before being wheeled in. But I spoke with my husband and he said if you don't do it, this time tomorrow you will be regretting it. He was so right. I know I am not losing as fast as some but it is the best decision I have made. Good luck with you decision.
  23. My husband is behind me 100 %. He goes to every appointment with me. He has started working out since I have started my journey also. I am very appreciative for all of his support.
  24. I didn't like the pure protein either. I like Special K (get about anywhere) and AMP (gnc). Good luck.
  25. Congratulations and good luck. You will be fine. Do what your doctors says and you will do great.
