  1. Hello LB friends! I've had my band for 13 months now, and the past 2 days I've been experiencing something I havn't before. I have had horrible heartburn since 3am. No meds are helping, and it is hurting to eat. It even burns to drink water. I haven't experienced any heartburn whatsoever since getting my band, so this is concerning me. I've also developed a bit of a cough. I haven't had a fill in 8 months, and have an appt with my new doc Wednesday. I've been reading a bit online and have seen that these can be signs of a slip. Has anyone had slippage, and what were your symptoms? Thx in advance!

    Best tasting protein shakes????

Premier chocolate! Believe me, I've tried them ALL and Premier are the best. 12 in a case for abt $16 at Sams Club or Costco. 30 grams of protein, only 5 carbs.

    Possible Slippage?

So sorry to hear of your slip! Mine turned out not to be a slip....just swelling from a vomiting episode. I got a fill and things are going well. Do u know if your surgeon stitched the band in place? When I contacted my Drs office, she said a slip was very rare. Wish u the best!
  4. 13 months out and 2 states away, I still can't get over helpful the office is. Natalie has been my lifeline! Quick to return emails, and I genuinely feel that I am still as important to them as I was the day of my surgery. Dr. Weaver's office makes u feel as you're a patient for life, and to me, that's amazing!

    Premier Protein Shakes?

LOVE Premier! Tried em all, chocolate is the BOMB!
  7. I had my surgery with Dr. Weaver March 1st, and let me tell u....look no further! I couldn't be happier with Dr. Weaver and his staff. I was also self-pay, and he will write u a couple scripts that are not included in the price....maybe $50 tops. Everything else was included, no hidden costs or anything. I am so very happy I chose this office, even tho I traveled 9 hrs to get there...lol. Still 2 1/2 mo out, I still remain in contact bcuz they definiately DO NOT treat u like "just another number". They genuinely care abt their patients. Amazing practice.
  8. Update: 2 1/2 mo out from surgery. Had 1 fill 5 weeks ago, and #2 next week. Down 36 lbs! Couldn't be happier
  9. I know this may be a question better suited for the "food and nutrition" board, but I usually get more responses here! I was just wondering what guidelines u use when it comes to eating? I had my 1st fill Apr 6, and definitely do feel full after abt a cup-cup 1/2. I am hungry between meals, but always choose a high protein/low carb snack. But more specifically, I lost 7 lbs the first week after the fill. Now 2 weeks out, I only lost 1 this week doing the EXACT same thing. Zumba 4x/week, high protein/low carb, measuring, weighing...all of it. I know 1-2 lbs ber week is typical, just a bit frustrating. I haven't touched bread, pasta, rice, cereal....FOREVER! Here's the guidelines I've been using. 25g fat or under 50 carbs or under 25g sugar or under 80g protein or greater Avg 800 cal/day So could too few calories be hindering my WL? My surgeon doesn't have a preference on which "diet" u use, as long as u get your protein. So he says some use Weight Watchers, some South Beach/Atkins...just whatever works with weighing and measuring as well. So what works best for u? Do u watch carbs? Or just calories alone? Thank u!

Which Post-Band Diet Works Best For U?

Awesome help guys! The scale actually moved down 3 lbs today, but the past 2 days I have been chugging water (which I sometimes forget) to flush out those fat cells. Cassie, good point. Overall, rather than weekly. It's so motivating to see that scale dropping, easy to stay on track. But when it slows, it's like "Give me some Fruity Pebbles!" Off to Boot Camp now, enjoy your day ladies

    Snack Ideas?

I had my first fill last Fri and am at 4cc's. I do get full quicker on MUCH less food, but an hr or 2 later I'm STARVING. Shaky, weak, stomach growling...the whole 9! I usually chug some water or Crystal Light if my next meal isn't too far away, but what are some high protein/low carb snacks I can keep around for when this happens so I'm not tempted to grab something I shouldn't?

    Amt To Comfortably Full?

Just wanted to compare notes...lol. I THINK I'm adjusted pretty well even with only one fill so far (4cc's in a 10cc band). I can eat abt a cup of food, or 3 oz protein and a couple bites of veggies. Does this seem abt right? How much can u comfortably hold? I do get hungry every 3 hrs or so, and I'm chosing healthy/high protein snacks. Hopefully my next fill will help get that in check

    Protein Powder

Yes! Premier is great, and I don't like shakes! I get mine at Sam's, but Costco has them too!
  16. Hi guys! I had my first fill Fri the 6th by a different doc than performed surgery. I had 2 cc's put in during surgery, which I guess explains the bread getting stuck issue from the get go. She added 2 more cc's Fri for a total of 4. I do notice getting full on smaller portions (protein always first) and I can eat a cup to a cup and a half? Does that seem right? I've heard some ppl get full on a few bites. I haven't got a ton of info on nutrition besides protein first, if still hungry then veggies/fruits, and LAST carbs/starches. I rarely make it past the protein. If so, maybe 3 bites of a side dish. I do seem to get full sooner, but am hungry more often...say every 3 hrs. Usually I swig some water or Crystal Light and it goes away for a while. I'd like to go a little longer between meals, maybe on the next fill. I also serm tighter in the morn, replacing breakfast with a proteon shake. Usually half abt 8, and the other 1/2 a couple hrs later. So...does this seem fairly normal (whatever that is...lol)? I don't have anyone to compare to, so I was hoping for a little feedback here. Thanks!

Great Article About Lap Band Fills

    Thanks for sharing!
  20. Hi! I was banded March 1st, and am scheduled for my first fill the 28th. I was just wondering, how many fills did it take u to get adequate enough restriction to where u started losing regularly? My fill doc uses fluro, so will that help me get into the "green zone" faster? I've heard it's best not to put too much fluid at a time, easy does it. I think he does about 4 weeks between fills. Will I have a little more restriction each time? I am very impatient! It's soooo hard right now to eat without restriction, and I DON'T wanna gain back the 20 lbs I've lost! Thanks!

    Any Missouri Lap-Band Patients?

Hi! I'm from Blue Springs, MO....right outside Kansas City. I drove to Colorado to be banded March 1st. The price was much cheaper. Not sure who I'm using for fills, any ideas? I'm self-pay...so price is definately an issue. Good luck!

No Fist Fill Till 28Th And Gaining

I also wanted to add.....Just bcuz ur surgeon operated on u DOESN'T mean u have to go there for fills. My operation was in CO, and I live in MO. Choose a doc u can not only live with, one u like! This is your journey to choose!

No Fist Fill Till 28Th And Gaining

Heather, I'm right there with ya! I was banded on March 1st, and my 1st fill is also the 28th. I can honestly say, THE VERY SECOND I got the ok to eat mushies, I resumed my old ways. I can still eat as much as pre-surgery, and do u know how many "soft foods" u can order from Taco Bell? I do. At the end of my liquid phase I had lost 18 lbs total (including pre-op) and figured it really didn't matter if I gain some back bcuz I had the rest of my life to eat "good". U know, after fills and all that. So anyway, I went 6 days of overeating myself to a fat bliss, and woke up that 7th day and weighed in, expecting the worst. Much to my surprise, I'd lost another 2 lbs. Idk how, but I decided at that moment that I was gonna go back on my pre-op high protein/low carb until my fill. It sucks, I know. I'm exactly where u are, but I have to suck it up and starve a little to not gain back any weight until I get full restriction. From what I hear, it will probably take a good 3 fills to get there. Good luck! Just move when ya can and TRY to make it thru!
  24. Hell, all I was gonna add was that the best way for ME to stay motivated is to keep changing it up. Don't get burned out with the same 'ol workout. Change it up, challenge yourself. For me it's a little weights, a little Zumba, a little step, even a walk around the block. Whenever, however....JUST MOVE IT!
