jeannette, I had some odd dreams when I was still on the pain meds. Could that be it?

    January 2007 Bandsters Excerise Challenge

Ok, My goal is to walk 30 minutes 5 times/week. On the "lucky / easy" days I'll do the treadmill at the Gym for 30 minutes plus 20-30 minutes on the weight machine. (lucky because our terrain here is forest and hills - YUK!)

Shues, I remember that too - I'm up for it if others are.

    January Bandsters???

Thatgirl - you don't sound whiny at all! you sound just like what a lot of us are going through. I also tried to bug my doctor to give me a fill at the first appt. He didn't even take me very seriously - so that didn't work - haha! I finally had a fill yesterdy - we'll see how it goes. The 5th week was actually the most annoying for me - trying to adjust to solid food while seeming to be hungry or wanting more or something. Hang in there - everything you're saying is OH so normal - at least around this board. From snowy, stormy Oregon!

    January Bandsters???

Shues - I had a friend suffer through the rough depression afterwards too, but I didn't know this then. Before my surgery the nurse emphasized it, pointing out that many people DON'T expect it and don't even remembered she said it pre-surgery. Thank you for the reminder and I hope you're doing just great!! Today I have an appointment for a first fill - I'm apprehensive and excited all at once. Maybe it's partly psychological, hm? I won't get it until this afternoon but already I don't feel like eating solid food. LOL

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Denise, I asked Tersigni if, after the first few days, I could have fewer meals and more ozs at each (during liquid phase) and he said it wasn't a problem. So, I'm thinking that shouldn't have caused a problem. From the instructions they gave us, I also thought we had to stick to just three oz of liquid per meal but I think they just meant the first few days and then, later, with solids. IMHO, of course

    January Bandsters???

My first fill is next Monday - Right now it seems I can eat anything so I hope that changes with the fill. It's encouraging to read about others who were banded this month to know that most of it's normal.

    January Bandsters???

Also, if we use the scale as a guide and are getting stronger.... the same mass of muscle weighs more than fat. That may be why clothes will fit better yet the scale is the same - that would be a good thing then, healthwise, hm?

    January Bandsters???

Hi! I'm new here - banded on 1/15/07. It's neat seeing people with the same issues I have. Like some port pain *still* - and trouble using the machines at the gym. Finally trying to eat solids, but figuring out how much of each and how to get enough protein is tough. It's so tempting to go back to liquids! I like the idea of a workout challenge (I think - haha!) what did you have in mind?
  13. Oh yeah, my doctor said that too - about the through a straw part. I don't know about y'all but the urge for solids didn't last more than a few hours at a time; and now that I'm on solids, it's hard to find time to figure out what, how much, when etc. AND find 20 min. or so to set aside regularly to eat. Anyone else have similar problem? Any suggestions? I guess that's exactly what they mean about "learning new habits" hm?
  14. I just found out about this board last night - 14 so far I think. I'm on the road a lot so not always able to check. I go back in two weeks or so for a fill so I'll know more then. Tried to get him to "fill" early but he just laughed at me! You're doing fantastic!!! I got so used to how easy it was to do liquids, I'm not that great at the solids yet... How are you doing with that part?
  15. It really seems different drs have different post op rules. I was on liquid for 4 weeks post op but it included protein shakes etc. Watered down split pea soup, watered oatmeal, sugar-free popsicles and jello were fine too. Also instant cr. of chix soup mixed with 1 scoop protein powder wasn't bad either - I wonder if you can have those too????
