    March Bandsters!

yvonne74 Glad you're doing better. I was home by noon yesterday but have been so groggy and just wiped out it's been hard to even sip fluids. Up and walking when I do wake. No nause, had gas pain in my chest yesterday but gone now. The biggest thing is the muscle pull on the L side when I turn or get out of bed. Everything else is good. Lortab helps that but then I just end up back in bed. Oh well, guess that is what I should be doing post-op day one. Keep us posted.
  2. Day one post op.....Up and moving slooowwwlly :)

    8 Hours And Counting

OK this is it.......really...........it's here already. Surgery in the morning at 0730 Does that sum up my emotions? I am nervous and excited. I've lost 8 lbs on the pre-op diet......1lb a day, not bad, if I can keep that up I will be happy!! Anticipating the pain, probably more than needed. I'm not questioning my decision though.......I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Time to make a change. I will keep you posted. Tootles D

In pre-op wearing my designer gown! Had my I'VE antibiotic and weigh in I love this scale down 10 lbs in a week . I think they make these gowns so big to make people feel better about themselves! The staff here at Richardson Surgery Center are great . See you on the other side folks D

  7. Still at work......so much to do before being off for three days...Surgery at 0730 tomorrow, talked to Anesth. and surgery nurse, NPO at MN, drink lot's today.........does that mean lots of diet coke, tea, maybe a B52 for my nerves? Surely they don't mean WATER!!!

Hital Hernias can be diagnosed with an EGD. My insurance will not pay for the band but will pay for the hernia to be repaired. So my surgery will cost much less out of pocket. It is a protrusion of the stomach into the esophagus and is freq. found in overweight people. I can produce terrible reflux and heartburn especially if you lay down soon after eating. We tell these people to sleep with the head of the bed elevated and not to lay down 30-60 minutes after eating. D

    March Bandsters!

Congrats to all the March bandsters who have made it to the other side! I got my surgery time 0730 this Friday!! I am getting pre-op jitters. I teach this stuff to nursing students but as the patient it takes on a whole new meaning. My fiance is fantastic though, so supportive, so encouraging, a true partner in my lifes journey. He has decided to try any and everything new in my diet. We only live 15 minutes from the surgery center so I don't have to get up too early. I have to be there at 0630 and since I don't need makeup or a hair style, it should be up at 6 and out the door LOL. We spent the weekend trying the various Protein shakes. Gold Standard by far the best tasting, choc van and straw and far better in milk vs Water . As for those with fruit punch, straw. kiwi.........YUK Off to teach seniors about Diabetes.............should I assume they have read the chapter???? Probably NOT Tootles D

Wow that is a strict pre-op. I am on day 5, south beach phase 1. Guess I am lucky........I would not make it with just liquids. The blender ball is shaker cup with a stainless steel open ball for blending shakes when your away from home or don't have a blender. It's great.

Judy That's one of the greatest thing about this forum "support" I have gained so much insight into pre-op post-op diets and the procedure itself. My surgery is this coming Friday and I feel well prepared because of the enormous information and support from here. D

    Pre-Op Diet Day Two

Yesterday was weigh in for Day 1 of the Pre-op diet 235 Guess the week of "Final Meals" didn't hurt. Today is day two of SouthBeach Phase 1..I was so busy yesterday that all I had was my protien shake (slim fast low carb) and 1/2 cups of mixed nuts...which lasted me all day. Not really how I thought it would go...Chicken fajita meat and 2 cups of greenbeans was supper but not untill 9:30. Hope I do better today. The one thing I did notice was that I wasn't hungry throughout the day. I expected to be starving by noon. I guess it's a mindset, I know I have to stay on this diet until next Friday when my surgery is scheduled. I cannot imagine going in and having Dr. Fox say "NOPE, your liver is in the way, try again!!" I am getting nervous, and anxious. I'm a nurse so I know it is the right thing to do but I also know the risks of surgery and general anesthesia. I have never had a major surgery before so to do an elective procedure is hard for me. Moving forward to a better, healthier life D

    March Bandsters!

Congrats mykidz36 keep us posted on your recovery. I started my pre-op diet today, surgery is next Friday the 9th. I am all to excited and nervous.
  23. Day 1 of pre-op diet, so far so good. Although it's only 11:42am I am trying to stay busy and not think about snacking.

  24. So, pre-op diet begins in the morning, I suck at packing my lunch! I'll weigh in the AM just to keep track of how much I lose before surgery. I'm excited and anxious at the same time. Following the pre-op diet till the 9th seems endless. I know it's only 9 days but right this minute I think OMG no more burgers or LJS !!

    March Bandsters!

I am getting more excited with each passing day. My pre-op starts tomorrow so I think Roadhouse is on the list for dinner!!! I stocked up on shakes and veggies, protien over the weekend so I had something to eat. I have been trying the different flavors (only because I have a friend who had bypass and is sending me samples) of the Gold Standard Whey......so far it's not bad. I don't have a time yet but that is the least of my conerns. Do you know what time your surgery throughthelookingglass? D
