I have experienced the same event...I am compliant with the diet, exercise, and have lost only 1 pound since starting on soft foods. Muscle weighs more than fat, so while you are building muscle through exercise, you are loosing the fat, which the scale does not reflect. Keep focused...you will see the results. Remember also, that the band has the slowest weight loss rate. Keep up the great work!!

You are supposed to stop smoking pre op...my surgeon requires 1 month no smoking pre op. If he finds out you have been smoking, he will cancel your surgery. No exceptions.
There are blood tests to check for nicotine metabolites, and I know my surgeon uses that test for pre op lab work.
Smoking interferes with the body's healing process...never a good idea. Why not use this surgery as an opportunity to kick the habit?

This is a pretty common concept among heavy people who have lost a lot of weight. Our minds sometimes have a delay catching up how we really look. I think that is why sometimes we still need some counseling to help us adjust to the new us. I look you have lost a lot of weight, I did weigh 248, now around 150. I wear a size 8, used to wear a 24. People tell me all the time, don't lose anymore weight, your so skinny. I even get, I didn't realize you were so short, duhh, yes I was always 5'1' but I used to be real "fat" so I was wider than tall. Funny but just recently I caught a side few of myself walking down a hall in a window, I actually stopped and took a second look. OMG, who is that person? I barely recongnize myself these days, I look totally different. The only thing that makes me realize it is really me is my smile and my natural curley hair, everything else is gone. So yes I can relate, I never thought I was that big until I look back now and realize, oh yes I was that big. I keep a reminder on my frig, I never want to forget how I looked because I never want to go back there. I am now working my butt off to try and tone up some of my shrinkles for the summer. You look amazing, put your pictures side by side, it really gives you prospective on how we once looked. I did mine on my profile page before and after. It helps to see how you have changed. Learn to love your new body and be proud of your success.

My experience with slowed weight loss is similar...frustrating and sometimes difficult to stay motivated.
As my doctor told me, the band provides the slowest rate of weight loss, and 1-2 pounds a week is considered good progress. We are all individuals, so it does not help psychologically to compare yourself to others.
Another consideration is that as you loose fat and build muscle, you are really making progress, it is just more difficult to see. The numbers on the scale seem stuck, but you are becoming more fit...always a good thing!
Keep up the good work...you will reach your goals if you stay focused on the goal! Good luck!!

With my program there is two. Today I did a 2 hour session of basically a bubble test. It was 589 questions (MMPI) then an eating questionnaire and about 10 'about me' type forms. Next week they will have my results and I go meet with the psychiatrist. I think they just want to make sure I have realistic expectations, am capable of handling change, and have appropriate support.

I don't know if I have any "good advice", but I might be able to put things in perspective a little. First of all, I know you want this weight to just go away fast, but I think you are doing just fine (there's always room for improvement) and you shouldn't let this get you down. Perhaps your weightloss is slower than some, but losing slower will do a lot of good things for you: you skin won't be baggy, you will have time to develop muscle tone, you will be able to adjust to the new lifestyle instead of starving yourself/just being on another "diet", and mostly importantly those that lose slower are twice as likely to keep it off as those that lose quickly with drastic measures like starving themselves. I TELL YOU ALL THIS BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT I NEED TO TELL MYSELF WHEN I FEEL LIKE I'LL GO CRAZY. I was banded november 30th and have lost 25ish lbs and wish it would go faster, but i have to realize that slow and steady wins the race. If you really want to amp things up there's always the traditional advice of playing around with calorie counting (more or less depending) and uping the exercise, but you're smart enough to figure that out so i don't want to lecture you

Hmmmmm...now I say to myself do I respond or not. Since I am a lot like you, I chose to respond. You can lose this #$%@^ weight in 5 years, actually I think you will lose it 2-3 years. Secondly throw the damn scales away, I personally hate them. They are frustrating and in my OPINION (as you know we all have one) the can drive us absolutley bonkers, Especially when they don't move or only move a tiny bit. Take your measurements, my experience with the band is that I have not always consistantly lost like they said I would, by the scale, but I have lost inches when the scale would just sit there. I never thought I would get below 200lbs. I would drop to 199 and than right back up to 200 plus again and believe me I would watch everything I put in my mouth to the point of obsession. On the temper tantrums, I think I still have one at least once a week. Yesterday was my day, I woke up feeling like an absolute shrew... My husband told me I looked just plain evil and you know what I was evil, if the wrong person crossed my path I could have chewed them up and spit them out and never thought a thing about it. Give your self time and just keep venting, the weight will come as long as you are true to the plan but you have to feel satisfied with what you eat and the amount in order to stick with the plan. You ask how does this so and so know I will make it because like you said you want it so bad you can taste it. Guess what success doesn't cost you any calories on intake and neither does temper tantruims but they sure do burn calories. Oh and I hate math also, it is kind of like calculating your hourly wages when you work salary it is always depressing. You go girl, I place my money on you not only to place but to WIN!

Congratulations with your decision to refocus yourself on loosing weight! Though I have yet to experience a fill, I have had the sensation of feeling "the lump in the throat". I found drinking some hot tea or clear broth helps to relax me.
    Best of luck!!
