Me too! I think! I have what you would call bubble guts... Lots of gurgling and weird noises! I can't have full liquids til Friday!!! I've been sipping on broth from my moms homemade chicken soup and that seems to help ... Cant stomach the store brand chicken broth... Just ordered the unjury protein chicken soup which is a protein broth, should get here tomorrow ....

    February Bandsters?

I started driving today, 5 days post op... Stopped pain meds yesterday and not all that sore other than gas here and there
  3. Hi Sophia , I started at 232, was 224 day of surgery , weighed myself today and was 219!! Yay! So 13 lbs down from my heaviest! You and I seem to be doing similar! Let's keep it up!! Have you started exercising yet? Beyond the little recommended walks? I was thinking of starting to do 1/2 mile to mile walks in the morning starting tomorrow , then jazzercise once I can start mushies
  4. Karen , I was on Atkins for 2 weeks prior , then on Clear liquids for one week after ... Every surgeon has a different pre op and post op protocol

Port In Wrong Place For Me

My surgeon always uses low profile, and for women , places port 3-4 inches above belly button
  9. I had a moderate size hernia repaired during surgery ... Gas pains have been annoying but not nbearable since I pretty much take gas x strips all day long! And walking helps big time.... The only problem I have is when I cough or sneeze .... It's allergy season here, so that has been a problem

I used true results in Austin, and also was on their hiatal hernia program... Out of pocket cost was 5,500 for surgery..l I had to pay 40$ copy when I went in for EGD, so that was good.... They said same thing, if you've ever had heartburn or reflux, very high chance of hernia, especially if you're overweight... Good luck to you! Ive had a great experience with true results!

    Stalled

Good for you! Just stick with it and keep exercising! Do you journal your food? Maybe you need to change diet up a bit...
  15. I was on Atkins induction (less than 20g carbs) per day for 2 weeks prior... I lost 8 lbs on that and had surgery in 2/24.... I'm on Clear liquids only for 1 week post op, then full liquids for week 2, then soft thn mushies for week 3 then fuller mushies for week 4.... I don't have my post op follow up til march 9 which is 2 weeks post op... Hoping to have lost a total of 15-20 by then Everyone's dr seems to have them on different pre op and post op diets ... Mine seems a bit strict post op, and today I started feeling some hunger pangs.... Good luck to you on your journey !

    February Bandsters?

Still having annoying gas pains, not too bad though... The clear liquids is tough, I think I'm getting hungry.... No protein shakes or full liquids til Friday.... Have to keep myself busy til then
  18. Hey all... I was just banded TODAY!! Recovering nicely... Been sipping on Water, tea, light juice, when I can... So my diet regimen over next 4 weeks is: Week 1 only Clear liquids and Protein water Week 2 creamy liquids, Protein shakes, smoothies, strained creamy Soup , etc Week 3 very mushies Week 4 more mushies added I have not been able to find a good protein water, but my brother who is a personal trainer told me about this one http://www.isopureplus.com/weight_loss_surgery.html Wondering if anyone has tried? Also, any other recommendations? It seems a little pricy, especially at GNC, but I bought a 12 pack on amazon for 10$ cheaper... Just looking for a way to get some protein in....
  19. Who's your surgeon? I had dr esquivel... It's been great. Tons of support from true results! I really like their overall comprehensive program. I still have a little pain , and I'm clear liquids through Thursday , that's getting tougher to deal with than I thought ...
  20. I live in north Austin, I used to live in temple when my husband was stationed at ft hood. I just had my surgery with true results out of Austin on 2/24... Doing ok post op, not as bad as I thought it would be!

    Bowel Gas

    Gas x definitely works!
  22. OTC miralax is same as prescription. The strengths are the same. Difference is that if you have insurance it is much cheaper to get the prescription PEG and a larger amount... Although, many store brands are coming out now , Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, so you should see the price go down... You can easily buy OTC with same results as prescription ....
  23. Yea, I am clear liquids only for week 1, and week 2 I can have full liquids, then week 3 is light, super soft mushies, then week 4 is heavier mushies... My dr seems to have a pretty stringent post op protocol , but I have seen some people on here that have post op diet of 2 weeks clear liquids.... That's rough!

    Checking In...

Hi there... I'm 2 days post op, so far so good... I lost 8 lbs on pre op diet, but I'm up 2 lbs today, probably from all of the IV fluids... I'm on clear liquids for week 1, then full liquids week 2... Hoping to treat myself to a new wardrobe for my 33rd birthday in September !

    February Bandster!!!

2 days post op and feeling ok... I definitely think the gas pains got worse today... Gas x does seem to help and it's not unbearable... The most difficult thing is getting in and out of bed... And, I can't tell if I'm having hunger pains or gas pains. The broth makes me gag, and I tired both chicken and beef today. Yuck. So I've been subsisting on water, vitamin water, watered down juice, and sf jello. And two cups of green tea. Got outside and played fetch with the dogs and walked around the yard alot, and that definitely helped me feeling better.
