I am also learning not to eat while in the car. It does not make for pretty post-food activities. I'm so glad we are all still posting, especially as we close in on our one year anniversaries. I may have to go in for a slight unfill again. The sinus drainage or something is really stopping me up. I do have great news though! This morning, I reached my primary goal of 100 pounds gone! I can't tell you what an awesome, exciting feeling that is! And somehow, I managed to do it while still eating junk like mini candy bars and potato chips. Probably because I wind up PB'ing on the chips 30 minutes after eating them. lol. I just want to encourage you to keep going, keep moving, keep posting. Even when there's a bad day...don't give up....just remember that tomorrow is another day, another chance. Love to you all!

Hi all! Sorry I haven't posted in a few days! We r getting to a busy time of year. I'm just gonna touch on a couple of things here...first...alcohol. Lol on all these posts! I must say...i no longer drink...that was until black Friday. I hadn't had any alcohol on almost 2 years, but we were out with friends so I thought I'd have one with the DH. I had may 3 sips of it and was already buzzed like crazy. Good thing the food came so I couldn't drink. I finally gave the rest to the DH. Lol. Congrats to all of us...even if we're not doing so great. Look how far we've come!! I'm now at 98 lbs gone. Yay! I don't post yesterday so I will now for the Monday weigh in...164! I hope you all have a blessed day!

Thanks for the responses to my dehydration question! I'm drinking more water! Nicki...im tighter in the a.m. As well and sip hot tea or coffee. However I don't skip breakfast...i have a protein shake. Sometimes I'm still a little snug at lunch so I'll have soup or a tuna salad pouch. My nutritionist gave me a great recipe for a high protein savory snack

Hi all! Great job over T-giving everyone.seems we all had our challenges, but we handled them relatively well. Yay us! I am worried about Meredith too! I'm going to see if I have her address somewhere. Does anyone know if being dehydrated would cause the band to tighten up?

Happy Monday everyone! I'm holding @ 168...just 6 more stubborn pounds to my primary goal of 100 lbs. Survived the 5k yesterday...ran about 1/2 of it...shaved about 7 minutes off last year's time. Not worried about Thanksgiving. I know what I can & cannot eat.plus my mom had gastric bypass a couple of years ago so she knows what to make..lol. I will not deny myself of a taste of something I really want though.

Hi everyone and welcome RKIMom! Thank you for sharing your story...wow! vitamin deficiency...let that be a reminder to us all to take our chewable or liquid multivitamin(s) every day!! Nicole, my check-up went well. The nutritionist was very pleased with how I've done, and even how I've handled my "bad" days. The NP didn't think I needed the .2cc's back in my band. She felt I was eating fine because, even though I'd had that.2ccs taken out a month ago, I'd still lost 3.5 pounds in that month. Well, I insisted because that 3.5 pounds (to me) should have been a lot more, plus I've felt like I've eaten way too much and I've been much more likely to eat crappy stuff over the last few weeks. I've done well over the past couple of days since I had the fill. I'm now at 94 pounds down...only 6 more to my primary goal. I'm doing a 5k tomorrow (will probably walk most of it). I have slowed down on my exercise the past couple of weeks. The cold air makes me not want to get out of bed at 4 AM to go to the gym. However, I am going to start using the treadmill at work, during my lunchbreak, again. I've got to try to tone up this belly skin too. I really hate that my boobs are flat again. Wish I had the $$ for a lift. LOL. I guess it will be less expensive to go get a good fitting bra at VS. Has anyone heard from Meredith? Next week is going to be a tough one for all of us, so I'm praying for self-control, no over-indulging, but complete satisfaction with our food choices...for all us. God bless...and in case I'm not able to get back on here...Happy Thanksgiving. I think we all have much to be thankful for this year!

Sorry I haven't checked in until now. Its increasingly harder to do so during the day. JDI & NJ2NC...glad to know you all are okay. Hope your family is okay NJ. I haven't been getting email notices about your posts so I thought everyone was being quiet..lol. I don't know whose idea it was to post weights but...cool! I'll try to remember to do that tomorrow. I have also been go thru a time of not logging food & eating stuff I shouldn't. Have checkup on Tues. so maybe I will get a fill.

JDI...arent you & NJ2NC in NC?? Did you get hit with any of this? Let's pray...Lord, we thank You for the friends we have made on this WLS journey we are on. We also thank you for this tool and the success we have had since our surgeries. Father, we pray that our sister Meredith is ok, as we haven't heard from her. We pray that You have a hedge of protection and comfort around her & her family. Lord, we lift up this prayer for all of those affected by the storm. Bring them the kind of peace that can only come from You & may You be glorified in their lives right now. In the precious name of Jesus we ask these things.Amen.

Hi everyone! Looks like there have been some good NSVs! I had to go for a slight infill last week (.2 cc's). The sinus drainage I'd been fighting finally got so bad I couldn't even drink anything. Of course this morning I realized it had been coupled w/PMS. Oh well...it only pushed back my checkup by a week. However...i feel like I'm eating everything in sight.ugh! So..little restriction plus TTOTM cravings equals Chrissylu not hitting that 100 pound goal anytime soon. On the other hand, my sis-n-law gave me four nice suits that are in the 13/14 range. They all fit..yay! Hang in there everyone. I'm sure trying to.

JDI....yes you can stretch your pouch. I think I have done that, in addition to the band relaxing somewhat. I've gone from being able to eat only a 1/2 c of food to a cup before...within just a few weeks of having a fill. And...on the ice cream note...I tried some Health Choice vanilla bean Greek frozen yogurt over the weekend. Yum! NJ2NC: If I already posted this...I apologize. i did do another 5k just 2 or 3 months after surgery, then did a 2 mile walk the next day for March of Dimes. My next 5k is about four weeks away and I've already walked the route on my lunch hour one day last week. I'm looking forward to it. Keep it up...you'll be calling yourself a "runner" in no time. Nicole 1: My doctor has told me to do the same thing...pretty much since the day of my surgery. Its tough to do sometimes....but I do try to cut my food into very small pieces. Someone gave me a great idea of using a baby spoon and fork to eat with. It might look silly, but it does help to take smaller bites. i found a shrimp fork at a store called Old Time Pottery...and its perfect!

hey NJ2NC! go for that November 5k! You can do it! To answer your question, yes. My first was last November and I walked most of it. I thought I was going to die by the end of it. But I turned around and did another one in March (and actually jogged a little of it)...yep...less than two months after my LB surgery (does anyone else think its funny that the lap band abbreviation is the same as for "pound"? LOL). The next day, after that 2nd 5k, I did a two mile walk for March of Dimes. I haven't become a runner yet (and don't really plan to, LOL) but I don't mind a good long walk somewhere. I wanted to our local town's 5k Booby Bolt this morning. I love that name, and you can probably guess that its to raise money for breast cancer research & treatment. however, I didn't have the registration money until yesterday so I didn't get up this morning to be there for the 7a registration. I plan to do it next year though. My mom is a BC survivor and I want to do it for her. I'm hoping i can get her to walk it with me. Next month is the Mayor's 5k Challenge..2nd annual. Its the one I did last year. This past Thursday, I went out to walk on my lunch hour. I just decided I was going to see how far i could get on the route for that walk. I walked all but 2-tenths of a mile! I'm so ready to do that one again this year! I never thought I'd be saying that. on top of that, when I got on the scale this morning, I've lost a couple more pounds, putting me at 90 total! Yay! I've only got 10 more til my 100 pound goal! I'm trying to do that by 10/25 which would be my 9 month bandiversary. So...liquids, protein shakes and extra exercise...here i come! I did buy some unflavored Unjury powder yesterday to put in soup and my SF hawaiian punch drinks. I couldn't taste it my tomato soup last night. However, in my diet Snapple half tea/half lemonade, my tea had a milk color to it and it tasted kinda medicine-y. I wondered though if putting it in my blender to mix it, somehow changed the profile of it and gave it that taste. I'm going to get one of those shaker cups with the mixing ball in it and see if that helps. Sorry for rambling again...just so excited. Come on and share some victories Ladies. I don't care if they are scale, NSV, emotional, physical...whatever. let's just share. Have a truly blessed day everyone!

oh my goodness...I've got a lot of posts to catch up on. Otaknam...hang in there...it could just be water retention or something like that. Plus, depends on time of you day you go in as well. I weigh first thing in the morning and always hate going to the doctor in the afternoon because I always weigh more. I hope things are going better since your post about going to the doctor. JDI....you shouldn't deprive yourself if you are really craving the ice cream...but as with all things....we have to practice moderation. Its still hard for me to get used to that. I'm hurting right now because I had 1/4 cup too much chili...when I should have just stopped spooning it into the bowl...but I LOVE chili! so i understand. It really is a mind game with ourselves! Oh and I hope DD is okay from the accident. Oh and have you tried Frozen greek yogurt? i havent but i've heard others say its really good. Ready: Yay on the Onderland! That's awesome! Careful with that heartburn. If you haven't already, check with your doctor about that. Meredith: Thank you! Yes...I'm okay with the sizes as long as the clothes look decent on me. congrats on breaking that plateau too! Keep it up, you can do it! Ladybandito...I'm with you! I'm trying for 162. so close yet so far away. would love to have it gone by my 9 month bandiversary in exactly two weeks but I doubt that will happen. oh well. Horsegirl...keep it up girl! I like the idea of a recipe swap! let's do it. NJ2NC...congrats on that 5k! I did my first one last november and yours is about 10 minutes faster than my time. Its a great accomplishment so make sure you celebrate that! And remember, sometimes our reward is not on the scale but in how our clothes fit and how others see us. Take those compliments and those better fitting clothes and use them to get you through the days where the scale doesn't tell you anything new. ValAnn-great NSV! I haven't flown in forever...but I'm sure not worried about it now. You are so right. We've all come so far in these past 9 months...even the past year from when we (most likely) made the decision for WLS. I'm so happy I did this and thankful that God made a way for me to have it. I'm so thankful to have made all my new WLS friends too! Sorry for the long post. Love you all and God bless you abundantly!

Amica...great picture!!! So proud for you and the accomplishment you've made! For some reason, I can no longer post in this thread at work. Its very strange. I miss being able to post to you all during the day. trying to get back into the habit of logging my food. Have had a problem today with eating. I was barely able to get liquids down. It happened seemingly overnight. I finally realized I'd had to take laxatives over the weekend, so I'm wondering if I might've gotten dehydrated. Liquids for me for a couple of days. How's everyone else doing??

okay...so...I went to the free apparel day at Sears Outlets today (it was the last one they are going to have for a while) and I got three pairs of pants and only spent a little over $8! I got a great pair of jeans (sz 14) and a pair of navy pinstriped slacks (14) and a pair of black & white French Connection slacks. wait for it..... size 12!!!! Ha! I haven't bought a size 12 in over 20 years!!! Cant wait to wear them. They are in the washing machine now, in hopes that I can wear them tomorrow. LOL! Of course, I also realized how very non-standard women's sizes are. I purchased a pair of 12's that fit perfectly...but I tried on a pair of 16s that were way to tight! What the crap is that all about? Geez..I've been buying plus sizes for so long, I don't know how to buy smaller sizes. Some fashionista out there needs to teach me!
  19. Could lemon juice or extra salt in the diet affect the band?

Hi all! good, busy weeked. got some great deals at a yard-sale yesterday ( no clothes though..boo!). Got back to 85lbs lost (again!) yesterday. However, today I've grazed on Doritos and one of those school fundraiser candy bars. My latest addiction is to Snapple's diet half tea/half lemonade drink. Its made with sucralose (that's splenda, right?). Anyway, I'm wondering if drinking that is hindering my loss somehow? I absolutely MUST get back to the gym this week. I MUST start logging my food again and I MUST start measuring my food again. Ya'll help me not fall back into those old habits...PLEASE!
  22. yes...should be and if you're not hungry...don't worry. You can also supplement with an extra protein shake in there. These first few weeks are going too feel kinda like a roller coaster ride. That's why its called bandster hell. Some days you'll feel like the band is so tight, you won't be able to get anything down and other days, you'll feel like it isn't there at al. Just follow your doctor's orders and everything will even out in time. God bless!

Tell Me About Your Fickle Band!

I've experienced all except the travel...mainly because I haven't really been anywhere. My doc said that the AM tightening is due lying horizontal all night and the fluid settling to the back or the side of the band (depending on how you sleep), and that it takes some time for it to even back out and settle to where it should be once you rise and shine. Sometimes exercise does help loosen. I will also sometimes drink hot tea. Stress does all kinds of weird things to your body, and I think it might be the same effect as TTOTM (that time of the month). The body retains water which, as we all know, causes bloating and therefore, tightens the band. Usually after a couple of doses of midol and the 2nd day in, I can tell a difference in my band. Good luck and God bless, everyone!
