My doctor was adament about no smoking. And believe me, if you smoked your doctor smelled it as did the nurse and anyone else around you who doesn't smoke. Sorry but that's very true.

Hi everyone! I haven't been on in a while so thought I'd give you an update after reading all the past post since Ive been on. I had my second fill on Wednesday so I'm at 6 1/2 cc's. I do feel fuller faster but I think the 3rd fill will put me where I need to be, hopefully! I'm still doing good though, slow and steady. 1 more pound and I'll have lost 50...34 since surgery on 3/22. I'm really telling it in my clothes, so lots of small victories. I had one pair of size 24 jeans, and mostly 22's and am now in 16's...so that makes me happy!! I'm excited to see what the future holds!
Sounds like most of you are doing well. Keep on looking at the reasons you had the surgery and keep your eye on the prize! Good luck to everyone! Deb

Happiness is a choice.....push all those negatives out of your head and focus on all the reasons why you're on this journey! I've found that I've, (with God's help!) have broken the addiction of sugar and carbs. I don't crave them like I use to. After a few more days you should start seeing that too. You can do this! Pray, pray, pray....God takes away that temptation when we ask him to. Bless you and your journey Heather! Deb

GasX strips comes in pills or strips that melt in your mouth, very easy to use. Not expensive, I think they were less than $4 or $5.
Everyone is so different ..... I don't recall having "race to the bathroom" type situations at all. Good luck!

GasX strips are good to keep on hand or in your purse. Definitely not much food going through your system so the bowels slow down for most. For me if I don't go more than two days and then I'll take just a tsp of MOM. I also have some Gummy Fiber that I take, from costco. Be sure to get in your Water each day too. You'll adjust eventually.

MelVan -- hold your head up high girl! You are taking care of you! Don't worry what people will think! Relish is your accomlishments and keep going! When you lose your weight and look fabulous then all those gals will be jealous of the heads you're turning! Maybe it's time for some new friends to go along with that new body! God doesn't make mistakes, he lead you to this journey as he did me, so have faith that you are where you are suppose to be despite the gossipers!
Hang in there and be proud that you're on the road to being healthy and happy!! Deb

    Hello,
I am 6 months post-op, I've lost 46 pounds. BE PATIENT, the band isn't the quicky weight loss that gastric is. My regular physician put it in perspective for me 3 weeks ago for my annual physical: to lose ONE POUND in a week you have to cut 500 calories A DAY, that's either cut your food or exercise it off. So that's every day, 3500 a week in order to lose ONE POUND. I almost fell off my chair. She said 1/2 lb a week for a 40 year old woman is GREAT. On another note, I was having dinner and the waitress noticed I was taking a long time to eat, put my fork down in between bites etc... She asked me in the rest room if I had been banded, I said yes how did you know? The 5'5" 105 pound woman in front of me had been banded 6 years ago! She had not ONE SHRED of hanging skin and had weighed 290 pounds. She said the slow weight loss was the reason she had no "hangy" skin, she looked incredible! I hugged that little woman in that bathroom so tight because she was quite the inspiration! And by the way she was 50... so it can be done we just have to work at it and be patient. It's a life long commitment and the band is a TOOL not a miracle...
    Good luck!
    Christy

@TracyC- your health has improved so dramatically because of your weight loss. That is simply AMAZING. I bet your doctor is thrilled, too!
    @kll724- I can't wait until I don't recognize myself anymore!
@Ladybug28- You're doing wonderful! Don't forget to move your car seat up next time you drive

Be able to sit in a plastic lawn chair and pray that it won't break on me!! lol
Want to be rid of the word "obese"....hate that word!!
Not ever hearing the word "but" after someone says I'm pretty....although I don't expect that so much anymore since I'm 60 now! lol
Be able to go up stairs or a hill and not be ready for CPR! lol

I decided to get the surgery because:
I need to be around for my sons (their Dad died on Christmas Eve 2011) and at 16 and 24 I am the only biological parent left.
I don't want to end up with diabetes
I want to feel good when I see myself in a mirror.
I don't ever want to hear another person say "you have such a pretty face if you just lost a bit of weight"
I also don't want anyone to call me a "big girl or plus size" again. I hate the word "plus size" who thought of that?
I want to go up the stairs and not get winded. My cardio health sucks!
I want my husband to be able to pick me up and carry me over the threshold for our 2nd anniversary next April. (he couldn't do it on our wedding night) Maybe he needs to start weight lifting anyways! LOL
I want to be called skinny before I die!
I most of all I really want to look on the outside how I feel on the inside!

The list we need to print out and look at each time hunger or the wrong foods are calling our name! Here's a few of mine:
I want my kids/grandkids to know me as thinner.
I want to be healthy, and not get diabetes like my mom and younger sister.
    feel better about myself.
I no longer want to miss out on things because I'm embarrassed by my weight.
    buy regular size clothes again.
    cross my legs, comfortably.
wear shorter sleaves, capris, or shorts again, maybe even a swimsuit.
wear something other than blue, black or brown pants.
have energy again and do things I've put off for a while now.
    and the list goes on.......
