  1. Karen can I ask how long ago you had the surgery? I'm 60 and wondering how age plays into all of this? I'm very healthy, all my numbers are great other than the scales so I'm hoping all goes fine and with a quick recovery.
  2. I'm so excited for all of us! Will be praying for all the March bandsters!
  3. Ah yes, gotcha! Can't wait for some of those!
  4. What is NSV? Still new to all of this.
  5. TammyFaye thank you, your words so very inspiring! One of my friends is going through this with me and she will be excited to hear the part about diabetes! Can't wait for my journey to proceed!
  6. Congrats to all of you!! I can't wait for my day!
  7. I lked Pure Protein, although it doesn't have the isolate protein my dietician recommended I always look for. Boost was one she said to stay away from because of sugar and not enough protein. along with Ensure, slim fast and a few others. I've heard Costco's kirkland brand is good but I haven't tried it yet.
  8. I've been trying some ready made to get ready to start pre-op diet soon, Muscle Milk Strawberry was awful! Made me nauseated for most of the day and left a horrible after taste in my mouth the rest of the day too.
  9. Congrats Taynadosmom! I know what you mean,as mine gets closer I'm a little nervous, wondering if I'm doing the right thing, and if I can be a success at this since I've been a failure for so many years when it comes to losing and keeping it off. I'm committed though and am determined to follow what the doctor says and be a fabulous success!! Good luck to you, keep us posted!
  10. Congrats AFB! Have you started the pre-op diet? Good luck to you! My ins approval can be turned in the end of next week so I'm praying it all goes through without any glitches!
  11. Even though I'm pre surgery I agree with the others, your doctor knows best. I've been trying different protein drinks and powders trying to find the ones I like the best before I start the pre-op diet. Gotta say I tried ready made muscle milk, strawberry, OMGosh! It was horrible, I was nauseated the rest of the day and had an awful after taste for several hours! YUCK! I won't be using that one for sure!! LOL

Pinterest has several of the green magical juice recipes. I haven't tried it yet but you can find it there. Warning tho.....Pinterest is addicting. LOL
  13. I totally understand, when I found out we had to do a 6mo program before being considered I was totally bummed!! But now I'm getting closer and closer, unless I run into stumbling blocks too. Can you continue on your pre-op diet, you should still lose while on that. I'm starting mine soon and hoping to lose 10-15 lbs before surgery. It will be here before you know it. Blessings! <3
  14. I'm pre surgery but from what I've read on here gas-x strips and walking helps. Hope it gets better soon!
  15. Sorry Deb, I know how anxious you are, same as me! I'm praying I don't run into the same issues! You'll get there, God's timing is perfect we just have to trust Him. There may be some reason we are unaware of that's for your good. Hang in there!
  16. Fingers crossed for you Ladybug that you get approved this first time. I am very worried bout that part that i have my hopes built up i have done the 6 mos and then i get turned down. I have done everything they asked so i hope that isnt the case. I am like you i cant wait to get this journey started. deb Thanks Deb, they assure me that if we've done all the program requires that our approval should be fine. I go Monday for the class and info session....things are falling into place. A coworker and I are doing this together so we've promised to cheer each other on, and keep each other in check on everything. I think the key is to follow exactly what your doctor says. I don't plan to fail at this!! We can do this! Let keep track and encourage each other.....good luck! ]
  17. Congrats on your journey! I began mine with my first appt August 31 with the surgeon. I also have BCBS but I have the requirement of 6 month supervised health program. It ends Feb 23!! YAY!! I'm so excited to get going. My surgery date is tentatively March 21 pending ins approval. I'm 60 yrs young and have faught my weight most of my life, especially after having kids and having 10 yrs of a 20 yr marriage that wasn't so good. I fed my emotions alot. I never considered surgery until my ins finally decided to cover all but $1500. At first I felt like I was copping out because I know once I set my mind to it I can lose it, my biggest problem is getting that mind set and then keeping it off. The more I talked to friends who've had it done and researched it alot I decided to do this. I'm sick of being overweight and all the things that go with it. I'm excited to get started! We can do this! <3
  18. Why eat the things that made you overweight in the first place. Eat more protein and veggies, leave the white stuff/carbs alone or to a minimum. Just saying....
  19. Go back to the reasons why you're doing this in the first place.....not worth it by putting sugar back in you mouth. We're addicted to sugar among many other things......run from it....don't do it. Think of your goal.....you can do it!
  20. You guys will do great, just keep believing that!! God bless you all tomorrow!!
  21. Think positive! Think of how you're going to feel a month or two from today! You can do this!
  22. Good for you! Your post is encouraging, thank you!
  23. Hi everyone! I'm scheduled for the latter part of March. Can't wait! Remember...."I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength"!! Good luck to you all!
  24. I beleive anyone with a weight problem could be defined as an addict of food. Most of us don't know when to quit, well we do, but we choose to keep eating because it tastes good, it's comforting, or for whatever reason. Like with any diet you have to make your mind up that becoming healthy and losing weight is your top priority and you're going to stick to it. The lapband is another tool to help us in that journey. I'm not yet banded, but March is coming fast and I'm excited to get going! I'm determined to be a success this time! Prayer, Prayer, Prayer and lots of determination!!
