  1. No kidding! LOL I've tried to change things up a bit. I have strawberry Body Fortress (WalMart) 26gr a scoop, added to 1 cup of skim milk 8gr then added a pkt of WonderSlim (online) pudding/smoothie mix 15gr. add some ice and blend. It tasted pretty good and gave me a good amount of Protein. I've been having trouble getting enough each day. Yesterday I did 2 scoops of the body fortress for 52gr. That really helps the day. I sip it over probably a two hour period, suggested by the nurse at my doctors offce.

  2. Deb... im sorry you are feeling miserable... i hope it goes very quickly.

i just wanted to make a comment on my port. i havent felt along the area at all so i dont know much about my port, but its black with bruising, it really is. so, i can see with the bruising just how big it is and where it is. has anyone else had this?

Hi Judy! Not sure which post you read but I'm doing great! The gas pains come and go but are getting better. Thanks for your concern though! Hope you're doing well and on the road to recovery! Deb

  3. Are you back home or in the hospital? If your meds aren't working I'd call your doctor. Prop yourself up so you're not lying flat and just try to sleep on you back for the first night or two. I only had small ice chips the first day of banding and Water sips the next day until 3oz Protein Drink starting around 10:30am. Stay positive and just remember the discomfort doesn't last that long. Hang in there, hope the recovery gets better for you! Deb

  4. Congrats! Just make sure you stop every hour or so to walk! Ask your doctor about socks or something for your legs to prevent blood clots. I only had to drive an hour and a half home and had to stop two times to get out and walk.

Take a pillow for you stomach and hopefully your seat will tilt back for that long of a trip. All I did for the first couple of days was sleep on and off. Stay up on your pain meds and make sure you have gasX strips handy!

    Good luck on your journey!

  5. Good job Jason!! Keep that positive awesome attitude and you'll keep doing wonderfully!! I had the hernia repair too, didn't have a clue I had one. And if it wasn't for the doctor telling me that I had one repaired I still wouldn't know it. I don't feel any pain from that at all. I kept expecting the worse from reading about everyone on here who had one, and still nothing?? Weird.

Good luck to you on your recovery and journey!! Hope it continues to go well! Deb

  6. Strange question...does anyone else get this? In the morning my port is very pronounced under

My skin. If I was wearing a tight shirt or a bathing suit I am sure you would see it. In the afternoon it is way less noticeable. Am I crazy?

Violet I can't even tell for sure where my port is??!! So I don't have that problem, lol

Maybe yours just isn't settled in yet? Call your doctors nurse, she can give you an explanation probably. Hope you're doing well. Deb

  7. Hi all. I've been missing for a bit & wow! Congrats to everyone who has been banded & goodluck for those yet to go.

I was banded 5th march & doing beautifully. Lost 6kg so far. I am wrapped. I have my first fill tomorrow & am a bit nervous. I am still on mushies. I cannot wait to dig my teeth into something that's for sure.

I hope everyone is recovering well. Everyday just gets better and better. :-)

Welcome back! Glad you're doing well. Mushies are sounding so good, I'm still liquids with 3 weeks left to go. My surgery was just a week ago on the 22nd and down a total of 23 lbs and doing well.

  8. meemee sorry you got strep throat on top of trying to heal! I've had allergies so have been coughing, not so fun with the sore tummy!! Glad you're feeling better! I was going to go back to work today but one incision is right on my waiste so my pants rub on it and doesn't feel so good, plus still have some gas paiins in my shoulder so am going to stay home the rest of the week since I have plenty of sick time. I'm getting tired of liquids too, this is my 3rd week with 3 more to go...ugh! Then mushies! yay!

  9. So sorry about your mom, I know how hard that is. Focus on the good times and your love for each other to get you through the several months. Stay positive and delight in the fact that you're losing so well and down so many sizes already. Hang in there...one saying I love is: "Don't cry because it's over, smile that it happened." That you were lucky enough to have a wonderful mother and all the years that you got to have her with you and blessed by the love you shared.

  10. Welcome to both you girls, Jennie and Kerry~ You're having the same feelings that all of us have had. The key to success from what I see on this forum is following what your doctors say, stay positive and keep telling yourself that you can do this.

I'm newly banded, just last Thursday sp not at expert by any means but I am a professional dieter and gainer!! lol I decided to finally get off the yo-yo lifestyle and get it off (again) but to keep it off this time. The band is just another tool for us, it's up to us how we use it for our best results. No need to worry about the surgery you'll do fine. Good luck to you both on this exciting journey we're all on! Deb

  11. Congrats Alex and early happy birthday! What a great birthday present you're giving yourself! Sounds like you're ready to go and well prepared! You'll do fine and no need to worry. You'll be out like a light and awake in recovery before you know it. Hope you have a smooth and speedy recovery! Good luck on your journey! We're all here for you!

  12. A good thing to remember is that with any major surgery your body is in kind of a shock for a while and with all the iv fluids they pump into us, especially if you have to spend the night, is quite a bit with very little going out. I gained 2 lbs but my friend gained 6lbs. Some people will retain more Water than others. It will come off though it's only temporary. Just keep doing as directed and you'll be fine.

  13. I guess the shoulder pain is the last to go! Today is the first day my shoulder isn't screaming at me, so that's a plus. Other than the shoulder pain, my abdominal muscles are sore and my incisions are feeling itchy, which I've heard is a good sign that they're healing. I have been able to sleep on my side and back without pain. :D

That's great Steph! Sounds like we're both about on schedule of things. My incisions are itchy too. We're getting there! Looking forward to mushies! But have 3+ weeks of liquids left to do.
