I have sciatic problem before lapband. my chiropractic md said weight loss would actually help lessen pain for me. massages to looseen tenseness in area where pain is and addjustments actually help me. heating pad in area , i went to nuerologist for something else and he immediately wanted to put me on pain medication regime and even suggested surgery. I kept telling him that it didnt hurt but he wasnt listening. Since the chiropractic dr has been so helpful I will stick to his practice for now, good luck with the pain.

I found a way that I could drink it, like hot chocolate! boil some Water put in your Protein Drink. I love the vanilla, sprinkle some cinammin on top, yummy. I could only drink 1 out of the 4 that I was supposed to. The nurse told me that there were some people who couldn't even drink one. and I still lost weight. I think because of the drink you will be getting loose stools, I would drink more water so it does get out of the body quicker. Good luck!

they want to be sure you've attempted to loose weight. luckily my cardio was keeping good track of my weight showing the yo yo. anything you can turn in to show you've made attempts, herbalife, weightwatchers..

Hi, I just got banded yesterday and I feel like crap. tons of pressure and gas... I can hardly stand up or sit down and have to get on my knees before standing up. My surgeon cut at my belly button and my upper and lower stomachs are rubbing when I move and causing alot of pain at that site. Is all this normal? any suggestions to end my misery???

I keep readying the more we walk the faster the gas is gone, what Im having problems with is fever, which the hospital nurse said is normal after all the drugs I was given, its alot of my body. good luck.

When is your surgery? I just signed the papers yesterday myself and felt very panicked! I keep going back & forth with the decision and am sure I will continue until the moment theyre putting me under. Im confident we'll find the strength in the end...cant wait to look awesome!
Mary
I signed mine today , my signature was all crooked and weird.. we have to believe we are going through this process for the better for ourselves first, then our families.

My surgery is Thursday, and I'm nervous too- but the excitement trumps all that! It is fear of the unknown, but we are doing this to be happy and healthy and live long, productive lives.
It's worth it!
exactly, stepping into the unknow, out of our comfort pass

Dr Oz is on tv right now, recommending the gastric bypass and the success of patients that have had it done. Hopefully he talks about the lapband!

I think mine lasted 10 minutes which consisted of the dr introducing himself and asking me if I had any questions. I told him I thought I was here for you to ask me questions. he said no, Im here incase you have any questions you may have that would keep you from having this procedure. I said no, he said good luck and that was it!. It took me longer to fill out forms than the visit itself.

We all get scared when it comes to any kind of surgery.....but its really not that bad at all. I am no youngster and I came thru the surgery fine....very easy recouperation. It does change the way you can eat but I guess thats why I did this. Six months out and down 43 lbs and not starving at all. Never could have done this without the band.
love the sound of that catlady!

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments! I'm feeling a little more optimistic today, obviously this is just a phase everyone goes through at one point or another and I've just got to ride it out! I'm looking at cute dresses online I'm going to wear when I get this dang weight off of me! Definitely helping me get my spirits back up, lol.
My date is tomorrow and I just told my hubby same thing, lol do you think I can loose on my own can you with your help? no thats why I need this, Im so glad so many people are here to support , as we take this important step!
Going for pre op this morning!

I was just banded a little over two weeks ago, so I remember the roller coaster of emotions you're feeling right now well. My best advice?
Breath
Honestly though, it's normal to feel all that. I know I bounced between excitement and "oh my gosh, what am I doing?" more and more the closer my surgery date came. When I was waiting in the pre-surgical room, all hooked up to IV's, in my gown, and waiting to be wheeled away, I remember thinking "oh crap I can't do this, I gotta cancel, crap!"
Thankfully, I stuck to my guns and went through with it. I am SO glad I did, too. I've already lost about 35 pounds just from the pre-op diet and these two weeks of being banded.
Keep reminding yourself of all the reasons you scheduled this surgery to begin with. Try to picture yourself a year from now, tons thinner and a lot healthier. Think of how much better you'll both feel and look.
And remember, Lap-Band is 100% reversible. So, even in the absolute worst case scenario, it can be removed if necessary and you'll be back to normal. Gastric Bypass- not the case. It can't be undone.
Hang in there and be sure to let us know how it goes! You'll do great!
thanks, thanks thanks, I know I'm not alone in this, and its nice knowing there are banders out there willing to share their experiences, together we will do this!

I'm nervous, excited, then calm I will be getting my lapband surgery done this Tues. I have read up all I think I can handle, have talked to several people some with gastric bypass some with lapband. Some with good results, some not soo good. I was supposed to get it right before Christmas but I chickened out and here I am again.
I have to think positively about this, its better for me and those around me. Any suggestions for a newbie?
