    Freaking Out About Surgery

It's normal, you are excited than scared, you get excited then worried, and you will feel that way after for awhile too. I was the worst baby about it, I would actually tell hubby take it out take it out, I don't care how just take it out, but now I feel so much better look so much better and thats what its all about it the long run. Use the support that is offered to you, find a buddy that really helps, I found some good friends here that I can talk to and we talk out what we are going through and it does make a difference.
  3. sounds like me , I regretted, cried couldnt eat, but I had wonderful support around to help me get through that time. Most of us go through that emotional time, and you have to remember what's happening. you are asking your body to change the way it eats, what it eats, and its rebelling (thats how I see it) but you have to be strong and keep at it. Soon it will retrained and it will be so much easier to reach for a Protein shake than food (at this early stage) an extra bite here and there is ok, and I tell my lp dr. and its ok he says because I am still loosing weight. I wish you the best of luck! and remember you can vent all you want on this forum.

    Spicy Hot

I think if we were used to eating certain foods then our bodies will be more accepting of those foods again. I love chili Beans (they are my comfort foods) and I have never had any problems. I ate the juice in the beginning and now can eat the beans also. A friend of my stays away from the beans she said they do a number of her stomach. Everyone is different
  5. today I ate waiting for that full feeling didn't come, & I have hip bones and I can feel them!

    Vitamin Quantity?

I was recently talking to a bandster that was done in October12. She asked if I was taking Vitamins and I said a multi and Vitamin B-12 shot once a month. She said oh no you should be taking two multis-one in am and one in pm and a Calcium supplement? I tried two and ended up with headache and just bought the calcium today, Do I really need that much? I know that what doesn't get used the body just flushes it away.

    January Surgery Bandsters Group

i hear ya, I have actually had compliments on tops I've worn before the weight loss, people thinking its a new top. I do say oh I've worn it before, but I do have to think to myself, did they not notice it for looking at the bulging fat sticking out? well no longer!

  14. Even with the band you can continue to have health problems if you keep eating candy which will soon be known as sliders. A friend of mine has had her band for 3 years, and just couldn't eat, so she would suck on candies all the time, and drink shakes and not the Protein ones, the whip cream and cherry on the top kind. She even had her 10cc band filled to 9cc in an extreme moment to jump start the weight lose and all she could do was shakes again not the protein ones. She was recently diagnosed with diabetes and poor leg circulation due to the diabetes. The first few times I had talked to her she was so negative about the band, she couldn't recommend and all she's lost was 20 lbs. But she now acknowledges that it was her fault that she tried to get out of her part of working at the lapband and just blamed it on the lapband. It is a BIG committment and there are foods we have to give up for our health. I don't think you will have a problem after you have lapband. The urges you have now, pretty much dissappear. And the lapband will tell you when you've eaten too fast, too big a bite, or just too much. You learn to read your body signals instead of food impulses. I know I sneak a cheat now and then but nothing that I feel is going to jepardize my weight loss. I wish you the best in your decision!

    No Easy Way Out

I ran into someone last week that hadn't seen me for awhile and noticed the weight loss, she asked if I had been on a diet or gotten help. I said I got the lapband and she said oh you cheated.. She must of seen the fire in my eyes, because she said oh I know its not cheating.. and I was its not! and just turned around. Its people like that , that besides wanting to smack em upside the head, that make me want to become a success story ! all of us!

    Terrified Of Failure

I'm like Cfalbro, wait when did I right this.? It's easy to think this because all our lives we have failed and failed to lose weight the way society dicates we do, and some of us have people in our lives that don't let us forget that we should lose weight and that in itsself is another failure that people can't see us for who we are but look at the weight first. To make the lapband work, you do need to follow the regime set by dr, at least for the first few months and then afterwards, you can start experimenting foods, to learn what you can and cannot tolerate. Sweets is a big addiction. Be careful, be honest and let your nutritionist know so they can help with alternatives. I didn't know this , but it was a big eye opener. Last night my hubby spoke to a co-worker who he knew had the lapband and she knew I had mine. She's had her for 3 years, and recently said on Facebook , lapband failure, all I lost was 20 lbs. Well she didn't mention , that she ate candies all the time, drank shakes, sliders as they call them. She even had her 10cc band filled to 9ccs in effort to lose weight and all she could get down were shakes, not the protein kind, but the cool whip on the top kind , with ice cream. And now she is diagnoised with diabetes and with poor leg circulation because of it. Its not you wanting that stuff its your body. Its not a craving that's gonna be turned off overnight, but its one you have to learn to control. I'm the biggest whiner/baby because I can't eat something anymore, But if I look at the scale my body is following along, its my mind that is kicking and screaming. And I do indulge myself in a bite of pasta here or bread there, but I've gotten to where that's enough. You will be ok, we are rocks in all areas, but sometimes we don't see it because we have been told we were. I wish you the best!
  18. I started probably 2 months before my surgery . I was scheduled for November surgery but dr didn't check gallbladder till right before and found it full of stones, so instead of lapband, I got gallbladder surgery. I was rescheduled for December but I chickened out and rescheduled for Jan 24, 2012 where I did finally do it, and throughout the whole time I was drinking the Protein shakes. and eating way less. It really helped the last two weeks go by easy and the last night before surgery I had a KFC drum stick and mashed potatoes, It wouldn't hurt, and you can ask your nutritionist/dr's office to make you feel more comfortable.

    48 Hours Post-Op

Don't feel bad, I'm 6 weeks out and I still burp (from both ends! :huh:hubby says ) but this is first thing in the am so no one is around. I would much rather get it all out in am than during the day at work.

  21. Jeremiah 29:11-13: “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.’"

  22. As much as my sweetie didn't want me to do it (afraid something would happen to me during surgery). I didn't know until weeks after. He went with me to all appointments asked questions. he brought me my liquids, food whatever I needed. Drinks protein shakes with me. He reads information with me. basically tells me all will be fine, I just have to give it some time. I've lost weight, and I reassure him that I'm not gonna be looking I am treated like a queen and no one else is gonna put up with my sh#t. (I tell him its his fault he has me so spoiled). Its all about communication, the lapband is lifechanging not only for us for us as a couple, and I doubt I would have done it if my hubby had not been there with me. I'm a wimp and now I'm spoiled and complain all the time, but I'm gonna give this a whirl and I love the look in his eyes when Im wearing a nice dress or something he hasn't seen.
