So Frustrated...
armymom2012 replied to bri_belcher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand how you feel I had to spend the night in the hospital after my surgery and because all the rooms on the Bariatric floor were taken, I got to spend the night on one where people received hot cooked meals. Talk about cruel. Usually hospital food doesn't seem all that appetizing, but when your starving 2 weeks prior to surgery, it smells 5 star. I'm just glad I had a private room and didn't have to watch them eat. lol -
Are Hiccups Normal?
armymom2012 replied to tina duggan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started getting those yesterday for no reason. I eat slow. I only consume a total of a cup of cream type soup throughout a day, maybe an 8oz Protein Shake that I have to spread out in a day, sometimes a 1/2 cup of jello or a popcicle at days end, plus sip water throughout the day. I go for my 1 week follow-up today. I'm gonna ask about it. It wouldn't be an issue, but every time i get it, feels like it's ripping stitches. -
Banded This Friday And Feel Like My Body Is Fighting Something.. Help!!
armymom2012 replied to SaucyBandster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given Antibiotics through an IV after my surgery. Just make sure you let them know about this prior to surgery and let them decide what is best for you. You don't want to be over medicated by mistake. -
Banded This Friday And Feel Like My Body Is Fighting Something.. Help!!
armymom2012 replied to SaucyBandster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They told me to contact them asap if I got sick and that way I might be able to see my regular doctor for something to nip it in time for surgery, but to also let the surgeon know what is going on as well prior to the surgery. That way he will determine what action to take from there. -
No Weight-Loss Before Surgery!
armymom2012 replied to Mrs. 2012 Banded's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to go on a 1200 calorie, partial liquid, partial soft food, veggies and fruit two weeks prior and a liquid puree diet the week before. I only lost 2#'s but they did the surgery, but they also said that my liver was still pretty fatty at the time of surgery. I cheated a bit on the 2 week phase, but now think if I had went by the rules, it would have been an easier transition after surgery and possibly less pain because of the size of my liver. Now I am 5 days past surgery, still in a bit of pain, but i do get full really fast even though i have not been given a fill. That is because of the gas they fill you up with, keeps you swollen and not really into eating much. So far 8#'s down. Good luck to ya. -
Day 2 Of Liquid Diet- Headaches!!!
armymom2012 replied to Kristin143's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was like that the week before surgery. They told me it was my body trying to fight against the new diet. I just had surgery this past Wednesday, talk about body signals. My head was killing me from lack of food. I couldn't tell if my stomach was growling or just the gasses rolling around and I had to hold onto the rails just incase i lost my balance. i just felt like i was in a fog and my 20/20 vision has been playing games with me since the surgery. Probably because of the pain killers I'm sure. it is day 5 now and i am feeling a bit better than i have been, just wish these stitches would let up some. Other than that, i am getting used to very little food and I am not feeling hungry like i used to. Considering i haven't had a fill yet, thats awesome Not sure why they tell you not to take tylenol. I was told i could take the liquid form or cut the pills in half, just no ibuprofin. Good luck to ya. -
I feel the same way. I have tried walking around the house, the store, even moving my arms around de round. The only thing that seems to halfway work is a heating pad on my neck. Hope you start feeling better soon. I think the worst is the area where they put the port in. Feels as if i am ripping when I try to get out of a chair or bed. The doc says thats normal though. Good Luck to ya.

I just had lap band surgery on Wednesday. The week before i was on liquids and blended soups and veggies. They weighed me in at the hospital I had lost a little over a pound the week before and then a day after surgery it says I gained 3#'s. What is going on? That seems strange considering all I had at hospital was ice and IV Fluids and then yesterday I only had OJ in a small cup, ice cubes and a fudgecicle no sugar added and only 45 calories and a little bottle of water. Has this happened to anyone after surgery and could it have to do with the bloating since surgery?

I had my surgery on Wednesday. The only pain I have right now is where the port is located and in my neck and shoulders. The doctor said it was normal, possible up till my 3rd week. Right now it just feels like I am tearing my insides out when I try to get out of bed or a chair or bend over. The Lortab prescription for pain is not really working yet. I asked my doctor about flying in March and he told me that, due to higher elevations, I may notice some tighness in the band, but once I am back on land, I should be ok. Also, make sure you show the screeners at the airport your card or whatever they gave you that shows you just got banded, because it may pick up the small amount of metal attached to the port. I could not imagine having them push on my stomach right now. Let me know how your flight goes, since you just got banded.

Post Op Port Pain
armymom2012 replied to readyinTN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery yesterday and the neck and shoulder pain is bad. My stomach only hurts where the port was put in, especially when I try to get in bed or sit down and get up. They said that it may cause pain for about 3 weeks, just not as bad as it is right now. Plus the gas they blow you up has to be worked out.TG for Liquid Lortab to get me through this week Hope you start feeling better soon, just don't lift too much right now. -
Post Op Port Pain
armymom2012 replied to readyinTN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had surgery this morning. The Port spot is the only one that hurts and it's pretty bad. Medical cutbacks seem to be taking it's toll on staff help as well:( I waited 5 hours for a room after surgery after that I needed to just get out of bed, because it hurts too bad to lay down. Hopefully tomorrow is better, because I am really swollen and hurt when I inhale too much. If you find a way to help the pain let me know. Can't wait to go home tomorrow. Wish you all the best. The only one I really like is the Chocolate Splendoe "Unjury" shake. I can't taste any grit like most do. It actually taste like chocolate milk to me.MMM You have to order it online and my doctor's office gave me a few packs to try before hand. I also like the Slim Fast To Go shakes, but I was told that they have too much sugar content in them, unless you can find the Carb version, which I have not found yet anywhere.

Stocking Up For Surgery
armymom2012 commented on sweetsoutherngirl's blog entry in sweetsoutherngirl's Blog
What kind of Chewable vitamin did you get? The pharmacist told me to get one a day and the pills are way too big and I hate the tast of crushed pills. -
Congrats. I go in Wednesday for mine. Can't wait for the change. MMM, I think.lol

I like the Chocolate "Unjury" shake. I tried a couple different ones from GNC and thought they were way over priced and couldn't tolerate them much to be honest.

And I thought my Pizza days were over:( Thanks, now I am feeling a bit better about this process, that maybe i just might be able to enjoy a little of my favorite things again one day

Pre-Op. Not Sure If I Am Following The Week Before Diet Correctly?
armymom2012 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am less than a week away from surgery and was told to take in 80G of protein as well as a list of soups, broth and a few items such as yougurt cottage cheese even a salad of veggies only as long as I stay with a 6- 1/2 cup serving portions a day. The problem is with no chicken, fish or beef I am not getting close to the 80g of protein and my calories for a day are around 600-800. I drink either an Unjury shake or Slim Fast in the morning and a greek yogurt throughout the day, but I feel like I am missing something. Any suggestions on getting my 80g of protein and what have you been told as far as calories for the week before? Last week I was on a 1400 calorie, there is no way I could do that with this weeks plan. Lisa -
Hi, my name is Lisa. I looked into this about 2 years ago and decided this past summer to re-visit the thought of having the Lap Band after many failed attempts before. I am 7 days away from having surgery and am really looking forward to starting a healthier life. At 43, I never imagined that I would be on 2 blood pressure pills, cholesterol meds and have constant back and knee pain that prevented me from enjoying the things I like to do. I am hoping that once this process starts, I will beging feeling like my old self again, before I gained all this weight:(. Today I started a liquid diet, so far so good, except for all the rumbling sounds, otherwise it's not too bad yet. Any suggestions would be great. I have pretty much stocked my cabinets with soup, broth and Shake powders for the next month. Yumm I guess my husband is on his own now for awhile. LOL Other than that, it has become a count down and I am so ready. This past year has been kind of a hectic time for our family. My son is deployed in Aphganistan, I returned to college after 20 years to start a new career and I am helping my son and his GF, plan their wedding this coming September. Hopefully by then I will have lost enough weight to finally feel good about myself and be able to go dress shopping. Wish me luck
