  1. Thanks everyone for the suggestions...I am watching my protein and keeping my calories to 1200 a day. I am hoping that I can increase my exercise this week and break my plateau....
  2. Hi everyone... I had my surgery on April 16th. I am down 20 pounds and am extremely thrilled. On May 30th I had my first fill...2 cc's. I have to be honest that I thought it would help right away but I have not really felt any difference. I don't feel like my appetite has been changes at all. I have been at the same weight for the past two weeks. I am using Lose Fit app and count my calories each day. I have been walking each day as well. Can anyone give me any suggestions to get ht scale moving? Or should I just suck it up and wait for my next fill which is July 11th?? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated? I thank you all in advance....

    In Mourning

OMG!! Totally feel the same...I was definitely in mourning about how my relationship with food has changed. I still think I am feeling sad over it. I started getting some support from a therapist because my support group my surgeon runs is not close by. I sometimes miss my "old life"...how sad is that to admit??? I got banded on April 16th and had my first fill last week. I am down 21 pounds and am so thrilled. Each day is a struggle but it is getting better. I have to begin to exercise more so hopefully the weight will continue to come off quicker. Once again...if it wasn't for this website I would of packed it up...this has been a lifesaver!!!
  4. Good Luck...make sure to rest and take care of yourself. Congrats!!!

    Work?

Hi there... I had my surgery on April 16th and it happened to fall on my spring break. I went back to work the following Monday. I had some difficulty because I am a teacher and had a hard time so I took three days off that week. I also had some problems with acid and a low grade fever so that prevented me from feeling 100%. Good luck... remember you are having surgery so you need to give your body time to heal....
  9. thanks for sharing! What a great story! I can't wait to see where I am in 11 months from now. I had my procedure done on April 16th. I am down 19 pounds so far! Happy for You!!!

    Weight Training, Yay Or Nay???

Hi there...You are doing great! I am 5 weeks post op and my doctor and nutritionist told me no weight training yet. It takes our bodies awhile to heal. She said to wait a few more weeks with the weights but to do cardio...
  14. Hi there...I had my surgery on April 16th! Boy it was a tough road...I had a hard time finding a Protein shake that would agree with me. Luckily, thanks to this forum I found GNC Lean shakes which I can tolerate and even enjoy. They are easy to keep cold and are ready made which is nice. I am down 17 pounds which I am thrilled about! I have my first fill set for May 30th... I am a teacher so going back to work was tough at times. I used my spring break to get my surgery done but had to take a few days the following week to get myself back on track. Yesterday we went to a big party for the Kentucky Derby! I was a bit anxious about what I was going to do about eating and drinking etc. since I am still on a liquid/mushy food diet until May 16th. I did really good!! Luckily, they were staying with the Southern Food theme and they had grits so I had some of them. I have to admit it was hard to be around all the chips and dips etc....those foods were always my downfall but I did it! This journey has honestly been the hardest thing I have ever done! I never imagined how difficult it would be at times. I am fortunate to have a great, supportive and loving husband who has been terrific thru this whole process. I am not sure how others are but I am not telling many people that I had this done...I am not sure others will really understand.... Lastly, this forum has been AMAZING!! I would not have survived the last few weeks without it!!!!

    Lemon Juice?

I wouldn't do anything with citric acid...I made that mistake and had to go on Prevacid...

    Teachers

Hi there...I had my surgery on the 16th of April. This was my spring break. I was down and out all week. I went back to work on the following Monday but was dying! It was terrible...I teach 3rd grade special education. Needless to say, I suffered thru that day and took the next two days off. THen I went back on Thursday and it was too hard again. I took Friday off and went back to work today. I am very tired and drained but i did feel a bit more productive. I am not sure if I can make it thru the whole week but luckily I have a lot of sick days so if I have to use them I will. We have state testing next week so I cannot be out then so if I need to take a day I will do it this week. I think overall this surgery requires 3 to 4 weeks of recovery especially for a job like teaching we are not at our desk all day. Hope that helps...don't over due it at work...
  17. thanks for the input. It has gotten a little better. Honesty I think I was drinking too fast.....ughhh!!!!
  18. Hi there... I am on Day 10. Still having a hard time with chest pain. I have been taking Prevacid but it still doesn't seem to be helping. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?
  19. I can feel your pain. This is tough...I am on Day 10 post op. It is so hard! I have such chest pains. I have been taking Prevacid but I am not sure if it is really working.

    3Rd Day With Band

It is so hard. I am on Day 10...still a struggle. Cannot wait to eat some "mushy" foods on Monday. I had my first experiences of nausea. It is not fun. Is that from not eating enough the band or just what?????

Protein Shake Hard For Me To Do

Ughhh!! I feel your pain! Try GNC Lean Shakes...they are pretty good. I have to agree they make me thirsty too. I had my surgery on April 16th and was told liquid diet for 2 weeks. I cannot wait until Monday so I can have some added food....Good Luck!
  22. Hi i am on day 9 post-op. i know all surgeons are different but I was instructed to 50 grams of Protein Shakes per day. Plus all clear liquids and sf popsicles (thank god for them) sf jello and 64 oz of water each day. I have not been tracking my calories but counting my grams of protein. Hope the helps!

    Refried Beans

Hi there...I just wanted to let you know that you may want to be careful with the hot sauce and lime. I was banded on the 16th and not realizing it was drinking Propel and Crystal Light with citric acid as the second ingredient. I have had a horrible time with burning and swallowing. I spoke to my Doctor today and he put me on Prevacid. Three times a day! The acid is not good for recently banded clients.
  24. Perhaps you drank it too fast? Have you been able to keep it down?

    Week 1 Post Op.

Yeah! I am done with my first week too! Boy it was tough! Never experienced anything like it. I had some issues with a fever each night...hoping that is behind me and I had a tough time finding a protein shake that finally agreed with me. Thankfully thru thus forum I found out about GNC Lean Shakes! Thanks Lisa from New York City! It was my turning point. Now when I swallow or drink I often have chest pain. I am looking forward to getting thru the next week. I am down 10 pounds so that great! Good luck!
