  1. Thanks for the feedback...How did you know that you needed this? Stupid question but what is plication? Are there signs that you get from a slipped band?
  2. I need some advice...I had my surgery on April 16th 2012. I had an adjustment on November 10th. I am not sure how full my band is because my doctor doesn't really share that information. Anyway, I feel VERY tight in the morning and am only able to have my protein shake around 10-10:30 am. I am really not able to eat anything until around 1 pm. I am spoke with my nutritionist about possibly getting some taken out but her advice was since I was not throwing up at all and am able to keep food down. It takes alot for me to eat things...I can usually get down a chioban yogurt and some soup. Meats take me a LONG time to eat. So does anyone think this is normal? It has only been a little over a week...will my band loosen a bit? I really miss being able to enjoy my hot tea in the morning...ANY ADVICE OR SUPPORT would be greatly appreciated!! I would be lost without this forum....

    Help!!! Am I Too Tight???

Well just got back from my unfill. I feel SO MUCH BETTER! I am PRAYING that I am getting back on track. These past 2 weeks have been awful...I lost about 8 pounds but this was not anyway to live. The Doctor thinks that I have to really watch my diet. I am still thankful that I did this and am happy with my progress. I just want to start feeling normal again and hit the GREEN ZONE!!!

    Help!!! Am I Too Tight???

Thanks all of you for your support and advice! I spoke with my Nutrionist today and I am going in tomorrow morning to get some out. The clincher was last night I was up all night with acid reflex and could not sleep. It was horrible. I think I am making the right choice...it took me almost two hours today to get thru my protein shake and I tried a yogurt for lunch and I had a difficult time with that. I am just PRAYING that I will get some relief. This is not anyway to live...I feel lethargic, depressed, frustrated and at times hungry but too scared to eat. I hope everyone agrees...Please pray for me...this is not a great way to feel...thanks!
  6. Hi there... Yeah for you! I had my surgery on April 16th and I am a special education teacher. I had the surgery on the Monday of spring break. I was down and out all of the spring break. I went back to work on the Monday after and had a tough time. I took the Tuesday off to rest. Then went back to work on Wednesday because I had a special field trip that I couldn't miss. I had a hard time so I took off the rest of the week. Being a teacher is tough..you know we don't get to sit down. I am lucky because I have an aide in my room so I can go the the bathroom. I also did not tell anyone about my surgery...just my husband. It was tough for the first two weeks. If I were you I would try and have it on a break. I had some issues with acid reflux so that made me feel miserable. So I would suggest taking Prevacid or some type of acid reliever and do not drink anything with acid. I am down 41 pounds and couldn't be happier. Let me know if you need any other information.

    1 Year Anniversary 10-19-12

Congrats! GOOD FOR YOU! I am at my six month mark and am down 38 pounds. I am still struggling with getting restriction but I am so thankful for the way I feel. My whole life feels just better! I am able to shop in stores I couldn't before...what a great feeling. You look great and are an inspiration to keep going! CONGRATS again!
  8. Hi Everyone... I had my surgery on April 16, 2012. I am down 37 pounds. On Wednesday October 10th I had another fill...this makes my 4th. Not sure how many cc's because my Doctor doesn't seem to share. Anyway, in the morning I am very tight...which I am used to but I am having a lot of trouble with foods that I have had an easy time with in the past. Such as, egg salad, steamed moist chicken, and even yogurt. Is this normal? Can it be that fickle? I am getting hungry alot but the stuck episodes really hurt and slow me down..... ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GRATEFUL!!!!

    Excited And Nervous...

Good for you! I have to be honest...I had my surgery on April 16th 2012 and am doing well. I am down two sizes...was in size 20 and now in 16's! Yeah for me! lol...but four months later it is not the size or how much I weigh it is totally how much being overweight affected EVERYTHING in my life! Last summer I broke a beach chair and lied to my husband about it! How pathetic is that! This summer I am sitting on the beach swimming in the water and actually taking walks on the beach. I have about 30 more pounds to lose but just losing the first 30 pounds has made such a tremendous difference in my life. I wake up feeling better about myself and enjoy exercising now. It was a LONG road and not easy at times but the lap band has made my life so worthwhile! Good luck to you!

List Of Items I Need Post-Op?

Good luck with your surgery...things that helped me where the GNC protein lean shakes...love them! Sugar free ice pops...I also needed Prevacid for the burning from the surgery in my throat. The pillow is essential as well to help you sleep. Try to keep a positive open mind too and take things slow. Small walks help throughout the day! Good Luck!!
  14. Hi everyone... I had my surgery on April 16th...I am down 27 pounds and have gone down 2 clothes sizes. HOWEVER, I am on my 3rd adjustment and am still not sure if I have restriction. I know its a learning process and it takes time but to be honest I feel like the weight loss is so slow......VERY SLOW!!! Am I doing okay? When did people really start to lose? in between my 2nd and 3rd fill I only lost 2 pounds in 6 weeks...IS THAT NORMAL? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!
  15. Yes I had the same. I thought I had strept throat too. It took a few days to get through...

    Why Am I Stuck?

Yes the food feels like the food is sitting in your throat. I also get some chest pain. I have never thrown up which I am thankful for. I know that if I do not eat slowly and take small bites it is a problem.

    Why Am I Stuck?

WOW! What great information. Seeing the visual on the amount of food really helps. I am on my 3rd fill and have been having some stuck issues but I think it is because I have been taking too many big bites. Once again I am GRATEFUL for this forum!
  18. totally normal...try and stay away from the scale. It will go up and down a lot in the weeks after surgery. Your body needs to heal...
  19. Thanks so much for your feedback!! It helps!!

    Stuck???

I had my surgery on April 16th and have had 3 adjustments. I have had problems with dry chicken, rice and lobster. It feels like a lot of pressure in your chest and it hurts!!! Luckily I have never gotten sick but getting stuck is not a fun feeling at all....
  21. Hi everyone...I was banded on April 16th. I have lost 25 pounds since then...which I am thrilled about. I have had 2 fills and I am having my third one on July 26th. To be honest the scale has moved VERY slowly in the past month. I have been eating my 1200 calories a day and tons of protein etc. and I have been exercising at least 5 times a week. Is the weight loss going to get off quicker after the next fill? My band is 10 cc and I am at 4 cc...not feeling that much restriction. Should I move up my appointment or just wait it out? Any advice would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!!
  22. Hi Everyone...First of all thanks so much for this forum! I could not have made it through the past four weeks without the support and advice from everyone! I was banded on April 16th, 2012 and can start to begin with my solid regular foods. I am wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to "start" to reintroduce foods. I have been on Protein shakes and mushy foods for so long I think I need some guidance on how to make the right choices. I am a teacher and bring my lunch to work each day so I need something that is quick and healthy. Before surgery I used to bring a Lean Cuisine fruit and a yogurt. Does anyone have any ideas or advice on how to start our with new foods? Also, I am happy because I am down 18 pounds! I have my first fill set for May 30th!

Why So Tight In The A.m.?

So glad to see this post!! I had my second fill on June 20th and was able to ask my doctor why I feel so tight in the morning. He said that is ABSOLUTELY normal and it is because of the laying down so long. He explained it more but I don't remember it all...lol. He also said that it is best to stick with Protein Shakes in the morning.
  25. Hi everyone... I had my surgery on April 16th. I am down 20 pounds and am extremely thrilled. On May 30th I had my first fill...2 cc's. I have to be honest that I thought it would help right away but I have not really felt any difference. I don't feel like my appetite has been changes at all. I have been at the same weight for the past two weeks. I am using Lose Fit app and count my calories each day. I have been walking each day as well. Can anyone give me any suggestions to get ht scale moving? Or should I just suck it up and wait for my next fill which is July 11th?? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated? I thank you all in advance....
