  1. this is interesting and i bet it was a real surprise to you. did he give you a reason why he preferred the other surgical procedure?? im interested to know that. How do you feel about this decision he has made? judych

Yes he gave me several reasons of why he preferred this procedure over the Band and all of his reasons were valid. I won't get into any specifics, because I don't want to discourage or disrupt anyone else's decision or recovery, but if you really want to know you can send me a private message and I will be more than happy to tell you the reasons.

  2. Hello everyone!!!

Wellllllllllll....I was SUPPOSED to be having surgery today BUT...I'm NOT!!!!!! I went to preop on Wednesday and my doctor somehow talked me into considering the sleeve instead of the band. Soooo....they have to resubmit my a request to my insurance company so hopefully I will get an approval SOON!! Soooooo glad to see everyone is doing well!!!!

  3. I think it does depend on the surgeon. Mine was done as outpatient in a hospital surgical center.I was there only a few hours. When I woke up in recovery I immediately needed to use the restroom and had a nurse help me so that I could go. I wasn't groggy and was stable on my feet and they released me. Of course I couldn't drive for 24 hours but my husband drove home and then we went to the pharmacy to get my pain meds. From the time we left for the hospital and the time we got home we were only gone 6 hours and the hospital where I had my surgery was 45 min away.

I had great support at home and my husband was there to help me get around if I needed it. I was fine however, if my surgeon would have required an overnight stay I wouldn't have minded.

I am 45 mins away from the hospital I will be having surgery at too. My husband and I are preparing ourselves for an overnight stay as well. I won't know until my preop on the 22nd if I will be staying. Thanks for all the feedback ya'll!

  4. My manager is giving me the run around about getting the days off I need to have my surgery. Legally she can't ask me what the surgery is for but since it's not "emergency surgery" she's pushing me to push my date back for a week or two later. My patient advocate said she could move my date to 2/21. Feel cheated.

Has anyone else had this situation. Also she said for me to fill out an FMLA request. I'm in Texas does anyone know if it something I can do since it's elective surgery and not a recurrent or chronic issue???

    SO CONFUSED...

Ummmm....LEGALLY she can't ask you that either. I haven't told ANYONE what I'm being off for. That's what FMLA is for. Are you going to use FMLA??? My superviser approved me with NO QUESTIONS.
