Question
You're only 5 days post op so I'm assuming you're on liquids. Unfortunately, hunger is going to happen, you have to tough through it until you get further down the post op diet phases. As far as your mouth being spitty, did your doctor put Fluid in your band at surgery? If so, you may need a little taken out. I would give him a call to be safe.

Don't Know What Is Going On
- Rejection of band/nickel allergy
I found this: The LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Band is made out of silicone and titanium. So, no nickel, but definitely talk to your surgeon about it to be safe. Good luck!- Don't Know What Is Going On
You have to remember, your band doesn't make you lose weight, consuming less calories than you burn results in losing weight. The band is there to dim your appetite and allow you to be satisfied on less food for longer periods of time. How many calories a day are you eating? Are you sticking to a cup or less of food per meal?- Help! Weird Symptoms (slip?)
I agree, you need to not guess and just get into your surgeon ASAP. Good luck.- Hunger Pains
Well you're only eating a cup of food per day, you are hungry. Your doctor can't have told you too only eat that little. What are you supposed to be eating?- PORT Causing Pain
I would definitely have your surgeon have a look at it.- Picketing the Cadbury Corporation. Anyone with me?
Girl I am right there with you!!! Cadbury Eggs are my FAVORITE candy of all time. I seriously love them and used to look forward to Easter to have them all year long. Last night my daughter bought a 5 pack of them and offered me one in the car. She's lucky I didn't push her out at a stop light. LOL So far, I have resisted temptation (and I have no idea how) but I am growing weaker and weaker.- No longer feeling out of control/ ready to move on...
I'm very, very glad in the light of a new day you're doing better! I can only speak for myself, but believe me, I haven't forgotten how miserable I was. At all. It was only 14 months ago I was almost 200 pounds fatter in total misery both physically and emotionally. Those memories are still VERY raw and so are the scars, trust me. See, here's the problem with forums. The only thing we have to go on is the information before us. We don't know you on a personal level so all we can do is form an opinion based on the very limited information at hand. When that information is someone saying they feel completely out of control before they even have the surgery, we worry. It's sad but you can't imagine how many people we see on these forums that honestly should've never had the surgery. They totally self destruct in the months after surgery. We see them chowing on a foot long sub when they're supposed to be on a post op liquid diet, or they post how they're 6 months out and haven't lost a pound because they can't control their emotional eating. Because we see this happening, when someone pre-op says "I'm out of control", we suggest reevaluating themselves not to be mean or because we forgot how hard it is, but because we know the work this journey requires and we don't want to see you become another failure statistic. We would rather see you postpone your surgery and be a success. Again, we said what we did because we DO care. We very much are here for you and want nothing but the best and success for you on your journey. I'm very glad you're feeling better and able to go forward with your surgery. Take care.- Since my last fill..wow!!
You are doing beautifully Jim. So proud of you!!- Lost Over 100 Lbs in....
Oh my gosh you are so rocking this, congratulations!! This calls for a happy dance!!!! I love you too and am so blessed you came into my life - Creams??
Honestly, not much. I know coco butter can really help stretch marks a lot. I use Roc Retinol for fine lines and wrinkles on my face it and has helped considerably. But sagging skin is different. If you only have a little, you might find one that helps, but if you have a lot nothing will help. Sagging skin is greatly dependent on how long you've been overweight and how much, how much you lose, your age, skin elasticity, and genetics. Some people get really lucky with none while others have a ton of it. Good luck!- One year on today
Congratulations!!!- Drinking by meals ? Solid Versus Liquid -- Satiety Study in Well-Adjusted Lap-Band Patients
I am in the habit of not drinking with meals because it was what I was taught from the very beginning, however I would be inclined to agree with the study by way of common sense. A lot has changed in their understanding of the band. One of the more recent realizations is that food passes through the band in less than a minute when eaten, it doesn't sit on the band collecting in the pouch unless you're eating too fast or too tight so it's not emptying correctly. Being as it doesn't sit above the band, that would mean there's nothing to "wash through" as previously thought and the reason they taught us not to drink with meals. So, it makes sense that the study would find no difference in satiety between those who drank with meals and those who didn't.- CPAP/Sleep Apnea Misery!
Jim and Kime-lou gave great insight and advice! I will add only this: sleep apnea can definitely go away with weight loss. When I started this journey I also had obstructive sleep apnea. Now, not only is my sleep apnea gone but I don't even snore anymore. At all. Hang in there, it does get a lot easier and better!- March Challenge-Lucky to be Losing!
checking in, still 225. Not a dang ounce in either direction lol.- Help Scared!! Gallbladder removel during lap band surgery
- Help Scared!! Gallbladder removel during lap band surgery
I would talk to your surgeon about it. Tell him what you read and ask if it's relevant to your situation. Are you having problems with your gallbladder already?- No longer feeling out of control/ ready to move on...
- Stick at the start of eating
- Success!
Congratulations!!- No longer feeling out of control/ ready to move on...
No one is trying to upset you, however, they are giving honest answers. It's imperative to have your head in the right place before going under the knife. As the saying around here goes, the band goes around your stomach not your brain. It can't change the way you think or feel about food. I'm not saying to postpone your surgery, I'm just saying that you need to have a honest moment with yourself before going forward with it: Are you emotionally ready for the major lifestyle changes being successful with the band will require you to make? Best wishes on your journey.- A little info from the veterans plz....
The only thing off limits after being banded is carbonation. Anything else you can have in moderation, just be sure to always count them in your daily calories. I believe very much in moderation not deprivation. If I want a piece a pizza or a cookie, I have it. I just don't have it daily (or even monthly), I moderate my portion, and I make sure it can fit into my daily calories.- Gained all the weight back! Anyone have advice or support?!?
It's never too late to start over, that's part of the beauty of the band. I'm guessing it's been awhile since you've seen your surgeon or been filled, so the very first thing I'd do is make an appointment with your surgeon. Get your band checked and decide with him whether or not you may need a fill. I would also make an appointment with your nutritionist. They are a very valuable resource and will be very helpful getting you back on track. I would also start tracking your calories, it's the only way you can know for sure you're not accidentally eating too much. I would also start measuring your food portions so don't go over 1 cup per meal. It's going to take some work to get back on track but you can totally do this. Best wishes.- PB2
I've not used it but my good friend Pattygirl talks about it all the time. She adds it to everything! LOL! I plan on getting some to try this weekend. I think it would be yummy added to a chocolate Protein shake. - Rejection of band/nickel allergy
