Had my surgery
I was told to use Protein shakes with at least 20g of protein. Most of the Ensure products only have 12g of protein, however they do make a high protein version of Ensure that has 25g of protein. So, if you can find the high protein Ensure and you like it, I say go for it.

Blood Pressure and Lap Band Surgery Question?????
My pulse went down with weight loss, too. It was around 100 now it's around 80. Sometimes even in the 70's.

Help!!!!
Actually, with all due respect, it sounds like she was TOO tight before. Saying "Before that though i was eating crap food because healthy food was getting stuck all the time" is one of the classic but often missed signs of being too tight. When your band is too tight, people actually often gain weight because as she said, she was too tight to eat healthy foods. Remember, the band's job isn't to physically stop you from eating anything. Nor is it to control your portion size. The band's job is to keep you satiated on less food for longer periods of time. Here's some great articles that explain it very well: The Lap-Band is NOT about restriction and Tighter Isn't Always Better

Help!!!!
You're only a failure if you quit trying. You haven't quit trying, you're here and you're trying to get back on track. Don't be so hard on yourself! You can do this, you really can. You just have to get your head back in the game and get your band to a point it as adequate Fluid in it. Hang in there

Help!!!!
I walk 2 miles a day (weather permitting). Currently I'm not at all though because I tore cartilage in my knee. So, I'm keeping my calories closer to 1000 lately to make up for my inactivity.

Help!!!!
I personally eat 1000-1200 calories a day.

Hope this isn't a crazy question...
Not a crazy question at all I'm no doctor, but I have researched all the different WLS extensively. I very firmly believe none is better or worse than any other, it's all a matter of choice and what's best specifically for you. I personally chose the Lap Band over the Sleeve because I didn't want them to hack out 3/4 of my stomach. I also didn't want to deal with dumping and God forbid I ever got cancer or some other horrible disease of the stomach, I'd be screwed because I could never get that part they cut out back. Btw, don't let anyone tell you the Sleeve or Bypass are the only options for someone morbidly obese. The day I got the Band, my BMI was a whopping 72 and I weighed over 400 pounds. In the 14 months since then, I've lost almost 200 pounds and my BMI is now in the high 30's. I'm still losing, too. You have to do what is best for you, whatever that may be. Best wishes.

Blood Pressure and Lap Band Surgery Question?????
Yes, they did the surgery even with the high blood pressure. There was actually never any talk about not doing it because of the higher blood pressure. My surgeon just said it was good I was getting it done so I could lose weight and get it under control. It came down pretty quickly as I started losing, too. It's pretty amazing how fast the body starts turning itself around when weight starts comes off. Granted I'm no doctor, but I really believe you'll be just fine and have nothing to worry about. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery!

Blood Pressure and Lap Band Surgery Question?????
Both systolic and diastolic are important, but it's the diastolic that you really don't want being high. The fact yours came down a bit is a very good thing. If it makes you feel any better, mine was getting very high before surgery too. The highest I saw it was 143/90. I never went on meds but losing weight has helped tremendously. When I was just at the doctor last week, it was was 118/70, which is great especially considering how high it was before. Hang in there, I bet you'll see big improvements as your weight goes down too.

Help!!!!
Why would a nutritionist tell you to do shakes when you're years past surgery? If that's the case, find a new one. One that will hopefully actually help you.

Getting back on track......
It's all a big learning experience, it really is. Plus, right now I'm guessing you're also in bandster hell, which makes it even harder. I think a lot of us are shocked to realize we don't feel like we have a band at all until we've had a couple fills. But, during this time is when it's most important to measure portions and calories so we can still lose despite being in bandster hell. Hang in there, today is a new day

Help!!!!
This is why you need to see your nutritionist, too. People's calories ranges go anywhere from 800-1600 calories a day depending on their own nutritional needs. You need to go see your nutritionist so they can help you set up food guidelines specific to your needs and lifestyle.

Halfway to goal weight!!!!!
Congratulations!!! I'm so happy and excited for you!!!

Help!!!!
Losing weight boils down to simple math: If you burn more calories than you consume, you lose. If you want to get back on track and losing, start tracking your calories so you can be sure you're not overeating. Also start measuring your portions. Get back into both your surgeon and nutritionist so you can get back track. Best wishes.

Pre-op diet??
Every surgeon has their own ideas what works and because of that only your own surgeon can answer your question. This is all information you should've gotten from your own doctor. If you haven't, give them a call or make an appointment and ask them to clarify exactly what you should be doing. Best wishes.

I feel no restriction in my band
What you're feeling is very normal. It takes most people multiple fills before they have adequate Fluid in their bands. You're in what many of us call "bandster hell" because you have the band but don't feel it yet. It will get a lot easier and better but it will take some time (and likely a few more fills). Be patient. Best wishes.

problems and then a NSV
Actually, the fact you're not losing and eating mostly soft foods are just more signs you're too tight. Contrary to the myths out there, being too tight can lead to stalled weight loss and even weight gain. The reason being, you're resorting to slider type foods and "soft calorie syndrome" because you can't eat the healthy things you should be. Have a look at this article, it is about being too tight and is really good info: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/page/index.html/_/support/post-op-support/tighter-isnt-always-better-r118 I think you can safely ride it out until Monday, but do get in to see your doctor. Best wishes

Self pay question
Ignore this idiot. This is the 7th thread they've been on (and counting) talking pure BS and spreading flat lies about the band. Total troll.

TIRED OF MIND GAMES
Please don't listen to the idiot troll Awanda, she/he/it is hitting every thread on here talking complete BS. Overcoming emotional eating and grazing is hard. I know that's something I've always struggled with too. I find distracting myself helps. I know this is going to sound weird, but night is my hardest time, so I've kinda "trained" my brain. Every night I brush my teeth and take a hot bath when I feel the urge to graze. Now, it's like a signal to my brain "oh it's bath and clean teeth time, we're done eating for the night". I know it sounds weird but it's worked. I also find keep safe food around for when I just have to have something. I really like both dill pickles and cucumbers. Both are zero calories, so when I need something I grab one. Hang in there.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
Wow this is what, the 5th thread you've spammed with pure crap? Seriously, grow the heck up and find a hobby besides acting like a troll.

problems and then a NSV
If you're having heartburn, you need to see your doctor. That can be a major red flag that you're too tight. So, give your doctor a call. Congratulations on the NSV!!!

Several Issues - Need Advice
...and another thread you're trolling. Seriously, you're this pathetic that you have nothing else to do but go from thread to thread talking out your @ss? You fail.

Getting the ball rolling
You're kidding right? I'm seeing a pattern of you going from thread to thread spewing absolute BS untruths about the Lap Band. Yet your profile is blank and you just joined this forum yesterday. Troll much?

Don't Know What Is Going On
That is completely untrue. Most of us due reach the Green Zone and stay there. The Lap Band doesn't "stretch out", it expands inward around the stomach. When we do need another fill after reaching the Green Zone it's because the fat layer around the stomach shrinks due to weight loss.
