Yep...a little over a week for me. Surgery on Saturday, 12/31/11. Back to work on Tuesday, 1/10/12. A little tired at first, but it worked out great for me as I too have a desk job. Good luck!

Janerose, you can do this at home. Just give it a try. This Sunday afternoon, before the Super Bowl, run to the grocery store and pick up:
1 pound ground turkey
1 onion
1 green pepper
2 carrots
2 cans of diced stewed tomatoes
2 cans of kidney Beans
Chili powder
1 case of canning pint jars with lids (one time expense, but then you'll have them forever)
Dice the veggies
Heat up a pan (5 qt)
Add turkey and brown
Add 2 Tbsp chili spice
stir
Add veggies, tomatos, Beans
stir
cook on low for an hour stirring occassionally
Rinse jars, fill and toss in the freezer.
Grab one on the way out the door.
I do this every other week. It costs me about $5 and I have healthy, tasty lunches everyday. The prep time is around 10 minutes. That's it.
Do it once and you'll see how easy it really is.
And, you can do this with many other soups/foods as well. I love my little pint jars.
YUM!! Trying this!!

I tried to find this on the forum before I posted this but couldn't find anything. If this has been talked about before (and I'm sure it has), please point me in that direction.
What scales do you use and what are the best ones to get?

Not sure what was said, but it doesn't matter. Hope you are doing well. Praying for you.

Three words...support your wife. She wants to be healthier and thinner. Why?? Probably for you. WLS is only a tool. It's a kick start to get us going to where we need to be. I did Atkins, Nutrisystem, phentermine, you name it. I lost weight too, but I gained it all back. Why? Because none of that taught me the correct way to eat. With this surgery, you are restricted to what you can eat. What you put in your body will now matter because you can't over eat (in the initial stages). It will truly teach your wife how and what to eat and get her moving down the right path. It's just a tool. But when she sees the weight coming off, it will drive her to eat correctly and make good decisions about what she puts in her body.
Be supportive. She desires it from you. Again, she probably wants to do it for you. I did it for my wife and my three children because I want to be around for more than 10 more years. I am only 42 and I was on my way to widowing my wife in less than 10 years.

Congrats!! Welcome to the group!! Right now, Water is more important. You don't want to get dehydrated. You will want to get your Protein in as it will help heal your body, but many of us during the first week had a difficult time getting it down. Do what you can, but make sure you stay hydrated. Congrats, again!!

Well, I don't think anyone is trying to hurt any feelings, but only trying to lift you up. Take it for what it's worth and enjoy the fact that "You look great!" "Thank you, that's sweet."
