Why did they change the home page???

I don't like it either....SO I am not really using Lap Band talk like I did in the past. I was on everyday and now I use it maybe once a month because it takes to long to find everthing I am looking for. Please change it back or make it more user friendly.

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Hi Kendra, I understand why you don't want to have that surgery. I felt the same way. He didn't tell me that I needed that one, but I only wanted the band. By the way, I am using my daughters computer that is why it shows her name when I reply to you. My computer Needs a new one. LOL I would trust Dr Schumacker in this matter, but I also understand that other people have lost a great deal of weight with the band too. Have you talked this over with your parents? if so what do they think? What ever you decide to do, good luck with it. But for your health, do one of them. When you get older it is much harder to lose and your body is just shot because of the weight. My knee's are both bad and I have been heavy all my life, so take care of yourself now because you are young enough to have a full healthy life ahead of you. Good luck, Debbie

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Hi OhioChick, my daughter and I both went to Dr. Schumachers. Everyone at the office is Great to work with. As for your next Classes, they just give you info on everything. Like how much you should be eating, and exercising. I enjoyed the class at the hospital, it was very informative. You will get to see the band and how it looks when they put the saline in, and ask a lot of questions. We had our surgerys on Feb 14th 2007. Shared a room at the hospital and I loved the hospital and the staff. Very caring and helpful. When will you be banded? Good luck. Debbie

Leatha, I noticed you sign about DVT,s. I have just started getting over having them in my legs. First the right and then aweek later the left. OUCH My legs have been so swollen and in pain. I spent one week in the hospital and then 3 weeks in a nursing home. I ended up getting them a week after my band was put in. Not sure if that was the cause or not. I have always had very bad legs, such as swelling, vains, ect. So who knows, I am finally able to get on a pair of jeans... let me know if you have had them and the cause, ect. Any info would be of a great help since I almost didn't make it with my first and hopefully my last episode. Thanks, Debbie Sorry this came up under my daughter,s user name, I am using her computer so I guess that is the reason. LOL

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Hi Everyone, Just thought I would let everyone know that I had my first fill today, It was not bad at all, a little awkard as they were filling but virtually painless. I'm hoping to start losing some more weight it has slowed down alot since I have started to feel hungry all the time, so hopefully this will help. Keep up the good work everyone! :clap2:

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi everyone! It's good to see that you all are doing so well. I suppose I will post something since I haven't in a while. I had my first fill today. It wasn't bad as I thought it would be.......actually now that I think about it it didn't hurt one bit. I am one month and two days post-op. I was ready for the fill, I was definitley feeling hungry all the time. These last three weeks have been rough. My mom was banded at the same time as me, however a week out of surgery she came down with multiple DVT's (deep vein Thrombosis) or blood clots. She was in the hospital for a week and since then she has been in a nursing home trying to get her strength back, however last week she came down with more blood clots in her other leg. So she hasn't been doing so hot. They did determine that the clots weren't caused by the surgery though. She may be in there for another two weeks to a month. It has been difficult for me since I lost my support buddy. Anyways, I received a 1cc fill today, like I said it didn't hurt at all, though it did feel awkard as it was being filled. I have lost 17 pounds and hoping to lose alot more with this fill. Well I'm glad to hear everyone is doing great, some of you have had tremendous weight loss, I would probably be down more, but I didn't have to do the pre-op diet. Good luck Everyone!

Hello Ohio, let's get this started

Hi Everyone, It is great to hear that all of you are doing so well, I am Discodiva's daughter, or you may also know her as Debbie. We were both banded on the 14th of Feb. I'm doing great however my mom is not doing so well. I just thought I would let you all know what was going on since my mom hasn't posted anything for a while. We were a week and a day out of surgery and my mom started to experience severe pain in her right leg, shortness of breath and dizziness. We had to call in an ambulance and they took her to Grandview hospital. She was there for quite a while that day before they decided to admit her. The only reason they decided to admit her was because everytime she would stand up the pain would be so bad that her blood pressure would drop to 80/50 or lower. The next day they ran more tests and determined that she had multiple DVT's (deep vein thrombosis) or blood clots in her leg. She was in the hospital for about a week and they decided to move her to a nursing home for rehabilitation and to regain her strength. She was starting to feel much better and would have been able to come home in a couple of days until about 4 days ago she started to experience some more pain but in her left leg. They ran more tests and determined that she now had multiple deep vein blood clots in her left leg. So now she is right where she started when she first went to the hospital. They will probably be keeping her for another two weeks... maybe longer until she can regain enough strength to go home. They did determine that these blood clots were not from the surgery since she has had superficial blood clots in the past. If you all could keep her in your prayers I would surely appreciate it. It has been a very rough and depressing time for her. I just wanted to let everyone in the ohio thread know. And you all keep up the great work. Mirissa

    HELP! I'm losing my hair!

Hi, I'm only a little over a week post-op but I take this pill called BIOTIN its like a vitamin that is good for hair, nails and skin, my surgeon suggested I take it to prevent hair loss. You might want to try it, it is definitly worth a try, Especially if it keeps your hair from falling out. Good Luck!
  12. I told my work that I was having surgery, I tried to leave it at that but my boss asked me what for. I had to think quick so I just said I was having female problems. BIG MISTAKE, She started asking me if I was having this done, and that done, who was your doctor. And I have no idea what type of things they do for female problems so it became a very unconfortable situation. I guess if I could do it again I would tell the truth.

    Have you named your band?

My mom and I were both banded on the same day. I haven't named my band yet but my mom has named hers SLINDERELLA. I thought that was really cute. Maybe mine will become SLINDERELLA II who knows...

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hello February Bandsters!<O:p</O:p Well, my mom and I were banded on 2/14 and today I have made it a week! (mom is Discodiva on LBT) I can't tell you how excited I was to get to the mushie stage! I think the liquids were about to kill me. I need something to chew. I have had my ups and downs but it was great for me to have my mom there with me, it really helped out alot. I have been hungry alot and am not very restricted at all, I tried to ignore the hunger for the most part especially right after I had eaten. I was really sore the first couple of days but not the only real pain I have now is in the port area. I would not recommend getting hiccups 2-3 days post-op OUCH! or sneezing, I thought I blew my port clean out of my incision! Ha ha! (not like you could help it if you did) My gas pains weren't all that bad, however I am glad they have subsided now. I can also now sleep on my side YAY! The hospital gave me this loratab elixcer which is basically liquid vicodin, since I move around alot in bed I decided to take it at night, it also helped me sleep because one night I went without it and I didn't sleep a wink. And when I slept on my back for almost a week straight my neck started to become stiff. Anyways I am also down 15 pounds! I didn't have to do the pre-op diet so that was all in one week! I'm so excited. Well I think I have rambled on long enough I will give you all updates later! Good luck to every February bandster! <O:p</O:p

    Yikes!

Well, I thought I was eating alot because I knew I wouldn't be able to have some of the stuff after surgery, but when I had my other visit about 2 1/2 months later I had lost six pounds, I think it was because I picked up a second job so I was much busier with two jobs and school. Good luck on your banding adventure and maybe you could appeal your denial on the band some people have been approved when they appeal. Good Luck!
