Thanks for those words cmackpmp. I am still too hard on myself. Everyone else sees my weight loss except me. I would definitely rather my skin had more time to tighten up. I feel better. Thanks for making my Friday better 😍

Yeah, this is my second go round after my lap band that I had for 10 years failed on me. I definitely think in hindsight that slow loss is best because my skin never looked crazy and again it doesn't this time either. It's pulling back in very nicely. I think Water is key as well...I have to remind myself daily to load up on water in the morning before I eat anything so it has enough room to fit in. I have tried fasting until noon as well and only drinking water and that seems to kick start weight loss

  2. I was a 7/15 date and I am at 43 lbs down. I know I have a bigger pouch (5 bites) so mine will be slower than most but I also got a little lenient when I was working 80 hours a week with my eating and now I'm back on track. The one upside to losing slow is your skin has time to adjust so just keep moving and it will come off!

  3. This Smooth Move tea is caffeine free so no worries about that part.

I did start drinking a low acid coffee at 10 weeks out because I work 80 hours a week and I really need something. I am taking a prilosec every morning to prevent any ulcers and my Dr says that is fine. I would say avoid the caffeine as long as you can, once you start back up it is really hard to break the habit again.

  4. Mine was 7/15, I'm stalled at the moment. Trying to find my motivation again :) Down about 34 lbs so far. I am finding that if I count my food then I think about food too much but if I don't count at least a few days a week then I drift off and eat badly. Trying to refocus on Protein, Water, and carb counts to get back on track.

Added a fitbit so I can keep track of my sleep and calories burned so I know what I'm doing...we'll see.

  5. I hit a plateau in the second week and it lasted 2 weeks. I found that I needed to eat real food and not supplements and stay to 5 bites only of high quality Protein and veggies and only 1-2 carb bites a day. The weight started sliding off after that. I switched from mostly Water to Powerade zero which seemed to help as well. I also found that when I obsessed about entering my food to the app that I thought more about food than just eating when I felt hungry. Think about the things you are doing and change one thing at a time for a few days and see if that helps. If not, change something else.

  6. I'm sorry this is happening to you! My Dr told me he made my pouch bigger because he did not want me to waste away. I had to have bypass because there was so much scar tissue from my lap band that my sleeve conversion failed within a few days. Maybe they can fix your pouch to make it bigger? He told me 5oz vs 3 is best for smaller people. Worth it to see if anything can be done to revise. I would definitely see some one who specializes in high risk revisions.

  7. Hey yall

Im having my first dumping syndrome , I’m 12 days post op and I ate to fast.
So I’m sweating and my heart is racing and I feel so nauseous... Headache

I think I was so cocky with saying everything is going smoothly with recovery and no dumping that it caught up to me.

Good lord , it’s no joke when they say you can have dumping syndrome. I was hungry and i just took a bite after a bite and now I’m feeling miserable .

Yep, same here. I found if I'm going to eat something sweet, it has to be the last bite of the 5 and it's that or another carb bite with the rest being Protein. It's totally not worth it to feel like you're having a palpitation... bread even made me feel sick so it's no joke when you cheat. I don't even want to know what a sugary drinks would do and I'm not about to find out!

  8. Hello Bariatric nation. Well I am super excited to say that my gastric bypass reversal is scheduled for next Wednesday. It took the insurance company only 24 hours to read the doctors notes with test results and ER visit documentation to decide that the procedure is medically necessary. I long for the day I can keep food in and have energy and the stomach ulcers will heal and I can stop taking so much medication. The surgery is on 09/05/2018 I will let everyone know how I feel and the results as time goes on.
Thank you to all those that have had such kind words of encouragement.
How do they do a reversal? I didn't even know this was possible...

  9. I had surgery on 7/12 for sleeve and then a revision on 7/15 to bypass due to scar tissue and blockage of my esophagus. Down 31 lbs so far and hit that stall for 2 weeks where nothing budged. It was about 2 weeks in and right at that time of the month so I hope it doesn't happen like that every month.

I noticed when I write down what I eat, it makes me focus on eating more. If I only eat 5 bites each time I feel full then I lose weight (without writing it all down). I also haven't been eating any carbs without eating more Protein grams than the carbs so that seems to be working.

  10. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. I'm in Grad school too and I find the more stressed I am, the more I slip back and forth. The reflux is horrible! I'm beginning to think I might eventually get a chronic disease from all the antacids I've been taking. It's tough because I had to tell my fill doctor in 2013 to take everything out because I thought it slipped. He wasn't even sure he wanted to do a fluoro. He basically just said a lot of band patients are having to have them removed and he was going out of the lap band business because he no longer believed in their efficacy. He said I was his only patient left that was a veteran that was still doing pretty good.

I refuse to believe it is a fail.

  11. Take some grated or thinly sliced cheese of any kind and put on parchment paper in the oven (on a cookie sheet) at 425 for 5 minutes. Once bubbly, take out and let cool. When you remove from the parchment paper you can use it as a chip or cracker substitute. I sometimes make a taco shell out of these by making them bigger and rolling them over a rounded object while it's still warm to form a shell shape. They're super tasty!

  12. I'm 6 years out and I can tell you my biggest downfall is resorting to alcohol in times of trouble. A little here and there leads to a lot and before you know it you are ignoring all the rules.

My advice: find a drink now that is low carb and not carbonated so you have a go to if you need it. Beer is not ever a bands friend!!

Also, don't fall into the trap of allowing yourself sweets just because you can still fit under your carb max or your calorie max...pretty soon you'll be back to eating way more of those than you can because you started with one and they slide down easy.

  13. Here's my story, I'm looking for some guidance on how you got back on track because I am feeling lost and hopeless. Wondering whether Lap Band is a total fail....

10/08 - Banded by an out of state surgeon who is not retired (Dr. Kirshenbaum at Lap Band Rockies in Aurora, CO)

08-13 - Fills done by Dr. Ricciardi in Las Vegas, NV (doctor just went out of practice)

Lost 110 lbs in first year at a rate of about 2 lbs a week - followed rules very easily initially but several life experiences got me back into drinking and ignoring band rules.

    07/10 - Divorce - drinking started (weight 173)

    01/11 - Miscrarriage at 4 months along - drinking escalated (weight 185)

    03/11 - Job Loss - more drinking (weight 190)

6/11-7/13 - Horrible Stressful Job, height of drinking (weight at time of leaving job 205) - In the midst of this job I was overeating and throwing up a lot, had to be completely unfilled at one point because I feared it had slipped. Had to start taking antacids all the time because of endless burning. Eventually got filled back to 5 ccs in a 8cc band.

07/13 - Moved from NV to CA, excellent job, engaged now - trying to quit the drinking cycle and get back on band rules.

03/14 - Did an IVF cycle in March - gained from meds (weight 215)

    May 2014 Changes

    1.) Seeing a trainer 2-3X week

2.) Recommitting myself daily but struggling with motivation

3.) More sitting at this job, less activity

4.) Trying to remember band rules but I'm having a hard time with following

5.) Daily struggle to not drink alcohol - I know this is my biggest issue

How do I get back on track? Any suggestions welcome!!
