  1. Sorry for not reporting back sooner. I am feeling much better. I was diagnosed with pneumonia and pleurisy. From what I understand the pleurisy is a result of the pneumonia, pluerisy caused the swelling in my legs and feet. Not only that, even though I had a hysterectomy, I still cycle each month. Good ole pms! Bottom line is I am down 6 of the 9 pounds I gained. They couldnt tell me about the pain/tenderness on my right side under my rib cage, they said my gallbladder looked fine and I have no gallstones. Blood work and urine looked good. That's pretty much it! Thanks again for all of the responses.

  2. Thanks guys! My doctor is on vacation until Monday. If I gain anymore prior to her return, I am going to the ER. I forgot to mention I am having pain on my right side right under my rib cage when I take deep breaths and can feel it whenever I eat. It's tender to the touch and feels a little warm. I had a HIDA scan to check my gallbladder a few months ago and all was fine..... Would gallbladder issues cause weight gain and swelling? We will see I guess.

  3. Not sure what is going on...but my weight is creeping up every few days...I am one year out and recently decreased my caloric intake. I have NEVER had this happen before. The most I have gained is 3 pounds. it would be an up and down game for about a week and then lose it. .but now up up up! How is that much weight gain possible? I haven't really been doing alot of exercise...never have. Getting so FRUSTRATED!

  4. Although, I feel my weight loss has been a little slow considering my starting bmi, I am still losing even with my thyroid issues. I have no thyroid and take 1.5 grains of Naturethroid each day. I was at 2 grains but my levels were so low...I was getting insomnia. Doc had to adjust my dosage I guess due to the weight loss. I am still feeling a bit out of sorts and think it may have something to do with my thyroid. I think this will be a long time battle :) But nonetheless, I am still losing....

  5. Even though my thyroid was removed about 6 years ago. Since surgery 4/2012 ,even with medication...my thyroid flucuates between high and low levels. I have been stalled for almost a month, no matter what I do and sometimes wonder if the long stall has something to do with my thyroid. Hopefully, we will get it right soon. Anyway, good luck to you.

  6. Thanks for the suggestions.

I do not EVER drink tap Water...it is just plain DISGUSTING to me. Tastes like what I would imagine lake Water to taste like LOL! Anyway, I only drink bottled water. The water filtration system, diet green tea and juicing all sound good. I just wish there was a way I could get plain water down without getting so sick to my stomach. It seems so much better for my weight loss....

Prior to sugery I could go WEEKS without drinking water.... oh well...heavy sigh....

  7. I was never a big beverage drinker but especially not Water. I would sip tea with meals but RARELY finished an entire glass or can of ANY beverage. This has been an extreme struggle since surgery.

Especially since I have never liked water, it actually makes me nauseous when I drink it but I have been forcing it down since surgery. I drink on average a total of approx 60oz to 70oz of liquids (mios, crystal light) with 34oz to 50oz being plain water. But the plain water is really starting to make me sick to my stomach. Adding lemon or any other flavor does not help. I've tried it all. I have even started to notice the mios and crystal sometimes make me feel bloated and cramp my stomach. My dilemna is I notice the days where my liquid intake is mostly all water, I tend to lose more. I DREAD even seeing a water bottle or anything that remotely resembles plain water.

Not sure what to do...any suggestions?

    Bariatricfoodie.com

Gastricsleeve4me - not sure of the website name' date=' but it is a blog with some great recipes. She is also a member of this forum.

Also, google "the world according to eggface" she has good stuff too.

My family practically lives off the Emilybites meals. I never knew that healthy food didn't have to suck. These are my go to recipe sites. Many of the meals are good for non-ops too. My wife is non-op and has lost 51 pounds since April this year eating from these recipes. And I'm down 105 now.

    Good luck[/quote']

  9. I am a little over 4 months out and still asking myself that question. When I look at my before surgery pictures, I think that I would still have it, but it's a constant battle to get used to this new life at this point.

I love the weightloss and am hoping for the health benefits soon (lower blood pressure) but constantly trying to figure out what I CAN eat is hard sometimes. I found that I can not tolerate alot of foods so far and I have TRIED - so I stick to mostly the same thing. This is the part I find most difficult.. I love variety and different types of food and so far, my sleeve is NOT having it. These struggles make me miss my old stomach :( --- but I am hoping the further out I get, things will change.

Maybe I am not the best person to respond because I am still SO MUCH of a work in progess but felt I would give my two cents. :)

Good luck with whaever you decide!

  10. It's been a while...

I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago and have not had PMS symptoms in nearly a year. But just this week my breasts have been so tender...even THINKING about them hurts! I am also bloated, retaining Water and have back pain. Sound familiar ladies?

Anyway, I wondered if the surgery may have somehow triggered these symptoms to return?

  11. Even with just a 45 lb loss, people thatI really had no interests in, are now going out of their way to interact with me.

I have always been a confident, strong-minded (and strong-willed..LOL!) person and that has not changed. I did not have issues wih self esteem. Prior to surgery, people have told me that I "command attention when I walk into a room." I am still the same person... The only thing that has changed is my looks.

Post surgery I am a bit more self-conscious because I feel like I am on stage with all of the attention and because I feel like I am in the ugly duckling stage. My "curves" have all shifted and I don't have the same shape as before. Still trying to adjust to my new body.

    Anyway...

    People are shallow. Bottom line.
