  1. I still have a few scabs ...so I think I'll wait...until next week. Thanks for the info!
  2. NSV – Non scale Victory (ie: smaller clothes, compliments, climbing a flight of stairs etc…) From: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/34175-frequently-asked-questions/page__hl__%2Bnon+%2Bsleeve+%2Bvictory__fromsearch__1
  3. Wow! That is scary! So was it pancreatitis or gallstones or both? And did they remove your entire gallbladder or just the stones? I was very nauseous last night and thought I was gonna have to give up the little food I had eaten, but it passed. Outside of the nauseau yesterday, I felt much better....we will see for today, I already feel the familiar pain throbbing at my right side and belly area...sigh...
  4. Thanks Carly! Will do!
  5. Feeling much better today! Pain is still there a little bit, but nothing like earlier this week. At least I can walk and sit up with no pain now. Yay! Ultrasound is scheduled for this coming Monday.
  6. Thank you Carly! I appreciate the thoughts...will keep you posted!
  7. Thanks for the encouragement! I can't wait to saddle back up!
  8. I am set to have an ultrasound and other tests tomorrow as my surgeon said this would be a better way to gauge if it's a gallbladder issue. Still having a time when I breathe and pain in my stomach and back. Shallow breaths.... oh well. Good luck to you too and I hope you feel better soon also. I'll post the outcome of the tests when I have them.
  9. I have the best surgeon in the world! Going to have more tests done to see if this is more of a gallbladder issue. to be continued.....
  10. Thanks. Small meals (you think?!), No fatty foods, lots of Water and percocet. They wanted to admit me, but I wasn't keeled over in pain and didn't have a high fever so I felt I would be okay at home and promised to follow up with my dr within two days.
  11. Hello, I am 2.5 weeks post op and currently getting in anywhere from 45-65 grams of Protein...depending on the day I noticed on the days that I am in the 60-65 protein range I tend to get constipated. I also noticed that the days when I only get about 45 grams of protein, I don't have this problem and after a couple of days of "low protein" I will lose about 2 to 4 lbs. When I am able to get in the 60-65 grams there is no weight loss. Any ideas on whats going on?
  12. Hello Everyone, I have been lurking for a couple of months and decided pretty quickly that the VSG was the surgery for me. I was sleeved on Monday 4/2/12 and was just released this afternoon. I must say...what an experience! I had NO idea I would experience so much pain. Between the pain and nausea I was in agony! I threw up 3 times..dry heaving. I have had 4 previous surgeries (not wls related) including a hysterectomy and have never experienced the kind of pain I did right after surgery. The pain was shocking ... My surgeon said my liver looked fine due to the preop diet and my surgery went very smoothly. My one saving grace is my dr. Dr Morris Washington. I would not trade him for ANYTHING in the world Anyway, I am glad it is over and hopefully it will be worth the hell I went through on Monday. I have been sip, sip, sipping all day with just a small bit of pain and virtually no nauseau. Not sure how much weight I have lost, if any at all.... We will see...I will keep you all updated.
  13. JimmyGotSoul, I really like this explanation of what may be going on. I actually tried Milk of Magnesia last night. It worked... I guess...But still feeling very bloated. I think I am going to try to up my carbs, increase my water intake (YUCK! - finger over my nose while I drink it- I DETEST plain water!) and see what happens. I was trying to follow the protein guidelines because I don't want "mushy booty" and batman wings for arms!LOL! It will be what it will be and I am going to do my best.
  14. That's the thing Krissy20.... I have always been the totally opposite.... NO LESS than 3 times a day before surgery. It seems the more protein I take in, the more constipated and bloated I feel. I think there is definitely a correllation there! Lots of protein = constipation and bloating! I have gone once in the last two days. NOT a good feeling! Like I said, Iam going to try the Miralax and the fiber and will post my results.....
  15. The Miralax and Fiber One cereal sound appealing. I may head out and pick up BOTH! Maybe I will try the baby prunes..... to be continued....
  16. I am still VERY much a work in progress and so new at being sleeved that I am not sure about suggestions. Everyone is so different. I can tell you even though I have lost about 19 pounds since the actual surgery on 4/2 and 26 pounds since the last week in March.....it is a process. To feel "emotionally" starved and not be able to see immediate results is something that I deal with. I probably consumed anywhere from 2000 to 3000 calories a day before surgery. Now I consume approx 500-600...you would think I would be 10 pounds by now! LOL! But I have to continually remind myself...it took me YEARS to get the weight on...it is going to take time to get it off. That is my saving grace.... not sure if this is what you were looking for...
  17. Thanks Kate819! I forgot to mention I do drink about a cup and a half of JAMAICA ME CRAZY k-cup every morning. I gotta have my coffee! I am just not understanding the constipation with so much liquid intake and the logic behind less protein more weight loss for me so far....
  18. Thanks for responding Liberated... Yes, I drink maybe 40oz - 50 oz of plain Water (I DETEST plain water) and maybe another 32 to 48 oz of crystal light/tea EVERY DAY. So I am getting over 64 oz of liquids daily..So I think I am getting in my fluids.....

    Surgery Biggest Mistake Of Life!

I can totally relate to what you are going through! I am just 5 days post op and have the same pain in the lower right portion of my back. It feels like someone is stabbing me in the back and is so severe it takes my breath away sometimes. It used to only happen when I drank something but now when I lie down, I feel it the most. I found that if I lean to the left or lean to the right, it subsides a bit. I said all of that to say that I am almost sure it is gas. I hope so at least. As far as pain after surgery, I can relate to that too...today is my first day of virtually no pain. All we can do is be confident in our decision and move forward. There is no turning back, no matter what we do. I am still in the process of accepting these facts myself. But when I think about how my great grandmother, both grandfathers died of heart attacks/strokes and my mother having had two strokes at only 59 years old...and her quality of life now...all most likely attributed to being overweight.... I am hopeful that I have given myself a chance at not ending up that way. I know it WILL get better!Good luck in your journey Shelby21

    Caught A Chest Cold

I was sleeved on Monday 4/2/12 and I had bronchitis. I still have it, but it is slowly going away. Hope this helps.
  21. I am doing much better. I hit a rough patch the day of surgery but it has been getting increasingly better everyday. I almost don't have the desire to eat at all and it is hard to distinguish between hunger pain or sleeve pain. I know I will be able to figure it out one day. I hope your surgery went well also?
  22. I was just sleeved on Monday 4/2/12 and my doctor stated that after 6 weeks out, you should be pretty safe as far as developing a leak. Hope this helps!
