  1. I was banded Jan 2012. I have told no one. Just my choice, but several people where I work have had surgery and I just dont care to be part of the ongoing conversations that I have overheard.
  2. I was banded Jan 30, 2012. dr put in 4cc at time of surgery. Second fill was Feb 20, added 1.3 for total of 5.3 in 10cc band. felt some restriction with this but not uncomfortable. Returned on March 12 for check up and NP put in another .7 bringing me to 6 cc. 2 days later had to return to dr for unfil. NP removed .4 cc to bring total to 5.6 cc. I have had some PB since then. It is gradually relaxing and I haved not had a throw up in 2 days. I think it takes a week or two for the adjustment to settle down and for you to relax into the new tightness. I hav not been hungry and usually have a hot drink first thing in morning. around 2-3 hours later eat some Protein ( egg, tuna, Meat) then 2-3 hours later Protein Drink usually have early dinner because I feel better not goin to bed with food eaten 2-3 hours before bedtime. Just me. Sometimes I may have 2 Protein drinks a day. I have a problem getting in enough protein.
  3. Sorry when I reread my reply I should have said that Heather removed .03 cc. not 3cc. this leaves 5.7cc in band.
  4. I was banded Jan 30, 2012 so I am aproximately 45 days out. I had my first Dr. visit on Feb 20th, check up and first fill. My dr is Dr Charles Morton, Nashville Tn. I found out at this visit that 4cc was put into my 10cc band at surgery. As I could feel some restriction already he added 1.4 cc more for a total of 5.4. This is a good time to talk to your Dr. and ask questions about anything. My Dr was very good about answering any and all questions. I had had no stuck episodes at this point. Was able to eat almost anything I wanted but appetite had lessened a lot. I returned on March 12th for follow up and this time met with Dr assistant Heather. She is fantastic, has been with Dr. Morton 19 years and just a sweet heart. We discussed how this is a learning time with the band. How to relearn about bites, chewing, drinking, needing to continue with protein drinks and to take vitamins everyday. Listen to your body, measure food and wait for that feeling of OK I have eaten enough. She also told me that I could only go aproximately 4 hours without eating again. Very pleased with this visit. We talked about adding more to band and decided to add small amount. aprox 6cc more. This brought me up to 6cc. I deank water while she added to band and was fine with swallowing at this time. Headed home, approxiately hour drive and had good rest of day and night. She told me only full liquids rest of day and for next 24 hours then progress to reg diet. Welllllllllllllllllll !!!!! on Tues night I could tell that I was very tight and Wednesday had trouble even drinking protein drinks, coffee which usually relaxes band if a little tight. By Wednesday night I knew I had to go back to have some taken out. On Thursday morn I called office and they told me to come in. Heather was so sorry that I had to go through this and assured me that it was OK to have some taken out. Tighter is not better. She said she took out 3 cc but it felt so much better instantly. I was able to drink a half bottle of water. She said that this happens sometime in the beginning, that we have some swelling when the band has solution added and that it just gets too tight. She also told me to never wait if this happens again that someone will meet me at the office and take care of any problem. How about that???? It has been almost 8 hours since I had this done and I have had a protein drink and lots of liquid today. I have just had dinner, Chicken and green veggy with no problems. It is a learning time and not so much a weight loss time. So far I have lost 16 lbs. in the 45 days since surgery. I know some lose a lot more but you must be happy with what is. I feel so blessed that this is available for me to experience and for all the others who will take this journey to better health through weight loss surgery. Don't be afraid, be excited and keep reading these forums they have very good advice about what to expect and personal experience that is so valuable to you. Good luck on your journey

    First Fill...

Hi, I was banded Jan 30, 2011. Had my first fill Feb 13. I was a little aprehensive about the fill but all was good. I had Dr Morton in Nashville TN ( he is fabulous) He told me he put 4 in during surgery and added 1.4 at first fill. I felt tight for the first 48 hours and only did full liquids. I am now doing regular diet and chewing for all I am worth and doing OK. I am so excited about this wonderful experience. It is all about slowing down and feeling what your body is doing. I cant believe that I can eat aprox 1/2 cup and be satisfied for around 4-5 hours at a time. Good luck to you
  10. I am 5 days post op and today is the first day I really feel like myself. Energy is returning. I am on solids as tolerated. Tonight I had a small salad with chopped egg and some grilled steak with a side of applesauce. I didnt eat all of salad or steak but it was delicious and satisfying. I return to Dr. on 20th for first fill. I am so excited to be able to do this and to not be hungry all the time.
  11. Just go with it. It will get better. I am 5 days post and every day is better than the last. I am on solids as tolerated now and so far so good. I had no saline in band yet return on 20th for first fill. Hang in there.
  12. I am 4 days PO. I am still sore in port area. Every day I try to do more than the day before as far as moving and walking. Hope you are doing OK. I dont have first Dr. visit until end of Feb.
  13. DITTO for me. I am 4 days out from surgery and I feel that I am doing great.
