Pre-Op Diet
I agree! I Today is Day 10 and I haven't been so good about a full shake diet I know bad of me. A couple nights, I would eat a small grilled chicken or small salad. I was trying to pass the time yesterday by reading my book my Dr gave me. I found that I am suppose to put TWO scoops of mix in and I have only been doing 1 scoop in my Water. Oops, maybe thats why I have been starved (nonstop stomach growling, feeling crappy? I am diabetic too).. So today, I have used two scoops in my water, its last a little longer but haven't let myself get too far hungry before I grab another Protein shake. I can have 3-5 shakes a day.

March Bandsters!
Amen!! This is so true! I have been tempted to tell a few of my co-workers then I think better of it for this reason. They would only be negative about it and use it to hurt me. I really hate where I work but love what I do so thats why I stay. My co-workers will take the slightest "thing" whether its something you said or you did and tell everyone to have the advantage on others. They are nothing but back stabbing and negative about everything.. I am trying to stay one more year for my kids and then transfer somewhere else. If someone is going to put you down or not support you, then you don't need them as a friend/confidant. I have people on this board and family as support.

Pre-Op Diet
A full protein shake diet sucks! I'm on it too and I am starving. I can't handle it come evening when I am at home.

My Phyatrist Cleared Me!!!!!! Yehhhhh
I am still working towards getting banded. I go for pre-op on 3/8 and surgery on 3/9. Only advice I could give is if this is what you want, keep that determined mine set and go for it! I had a struggle getting to this point. Someone once told me to 'keep my eye on the prize' and my prize will be 3/9

Surgeon Doesn't Reccomend Lap Band Surgery...what Do I Do Now?
The went to three Drs. The third one said he would do lapband. I had my mind set on lapband and only lapband after researching all three surgeries. Do your research, if you don't want the other surgeries then be determined to find someone that will do the one you want. Dr #1 said I wouldn't lose enough weight in the first year to be considered a success. (editted cause I hit "enter" too soon) Dr #2 said I was too fat for lapband (BMI over 50) and I had to lose weight before they would see me again. I had to see my PCM, get a letter saying I had lost enough to be under BMi of 50. Dr # 3 specializes in lapband (also found him 3 hours away from home) and agreed to do the surgery.. Surgery date of March 9!! So excited

March Bandsters!
Thanks! I will have to get clarification on what to take. I remember asking if it was B-12 and they said no B-complex.. Anyone still hungry on the Protein shake (only) diet? The nights are worse for me since I am home in the evenings. I try keeping myself busy with things around the house but ugh.. Stomach is growling like crazy

March Bandsters!
Anyone's Dr tell them to take B-complex? I am suppose to start taking it but when I went to look for it, there are dozens of different types of B-complex.. Do you know which one we are suppose to take?

Congrats to the bandsters today!

March Bandsters!
Thanks! I just don't know how my Dr will be about it. They seem so serious about nothing but water/protein shakes for two weeks. I need the 8th to get here soon (my pre-op and Dr visit).. Surgery the 9th! 1 wk left yay

March Bandsters!
I asked the SF pudding question and was told to just add a scoop of protein powder to the mix and follow normal directions. I so want to try it this way but my Dr said no milk! Not usless "you want to be a momma cow" (his words )

March Bandsters!
I was thinking fluid but 6 lbs is a big difference. From my appt in Jan until my EGD two weeks ago, I gained 2 lbs.. I don't know how b/c I've been eating like a bird just like they told me to.

March Bandsters!
Any of you have the scales of a yo-yo?? One day I will be down 9 lbs and a day or two later, I will be up 6 lbs.. Sometimes I think I can see it in the mirror but others I am like ugh, it isn't helping.

March Bandsters!
I'm surprised at how different these doctors are and we all are doing the same surgery. I don't know if I can make it through this protein shake only 2 wks.. I'm starving with it and the shakes don't have a great taste (to me) as it is.

19 Months Out - 120 Lbs Down ......
Thanks for the tip! I was afraid that you would say you worked out hours a day! They told me I had to work out a minimum of 60 min a day to lose enough. Between work (I'm a teacher), having two kids (ages 3 and 5) and being a single parent, I barely get in 45 minutes if I split it up morning/evening.

19 Months Out - 120 Lbs Down ......
Congratulations! You look great! Have you been exercising to do so well? If you could give us soon-to-be-banded newbies advice what would it be?

March Bandsters!
I am suppose to be using Bariatrics Advantage Protein Mix but I found out at the last minute that I got approved for my surgery on the 9th.. So the patient advocate calls me today to make sure I "had their brand" and I told her no but I have been using the same stuff that my sister used with True Results.. She said she didn't know if the surgery could happen if I wasn't using "their" brand. However, she said she would research it and ask the Dr if my brand is ok.. I will beyond upset if I can't have the surgery on the 9th and its only b/c of the "brand".

March Bandsters!
My sister went with True Results and love them! Dr. Wright did her port repair and said he was good. True Results won't take my insurance but Dr. Carcamo will.

I have Tricare Prime and got my referral within 3 days! I was surprised how quickly we got it back.

Where in San Antonio are you going? I live in Killeen but having it done in SA at the Nix's on the 9th.

March Bandsters!
I have heard that you can drink them but the air bubbles hurt (feels like gas pains). My addiction at the moment is SF Kool-aid. My co-workers all ask me what I am drinking and when I tell them SF Kool-aid they make a face and ugh.. :-p When I would drink coke, I would hear "If you would cut out your Coke, you would lose weight." Now that I have cut it out, they still don't like what I drink..

March Bandsters!
MissManders, Sounds like you have doing well. I was addicted to Coke and when I found out I was diabetic in October, I switched to Coke Zero. Now I have given that up. I gave it up pretty easily but know how easy it would be for me to get back into that habit. Nights are the worst for me and wanting to snack. I grew up snacking and watching TV especially at night. So I am trying to break that 37 yr habit. This is day 2 of my pre-op diet and I am starved. My smell has intensived and everything smells 110% more yummy. lol.

Anyone in the Waco/Temple/Killeen/Hood Area?
I live in the area but having the surgery done in San Antonio (march 9th). I tried going through S&W but they wouldn't even see me after the first initial visit due to my BMi is above 50. I said I had to lose 20 pounds before they would see me again and/or consider me for the surgery. Good luck!!

Flipped Port
My sister has the lapband and she had to get hers fixed. The port and a leak had to be repaired. It was the same for her as the original surgery. Came home same day and was off work a few days to heal.
