  1. I couldn't eat or drink a thing the gas pains were so bad! I found a product called Phazyme for gas. It has the maximum dose of simethicone (gas reliever) worked very well. Hate to say it burping and tooting helped and I am not a fan of either, but I did what ever it took. It took me about a week. Hang in there it will pass! Best wishes on your journey!

What Am I Doing Wrong? Constructive Adivce Needed :)

This makes me nervous! I was banded on the 19th of January and lost 13 pounds. I weigh 225 now, but I am afraid it will come to a stop and not lose more. I was 244 at the beginning of January. So I had lost some before surgery too. Hope to lose 1-2 pounds a week. First fill in a week. Good luck. I think switching up the exercise type you do is a good thing too or skip a day or 2 for a little while because I think your body gets used to a certain schedule and doesnt respond as well to doing the same thing each time.

    One More Day Closer

It was a challenging day. Stress from home and family. Work went well and believe it or not it is a lot less stressful at work than it is a t home right now. I am caring for my elderly Father and the stress of that is making this journey difficult. I'm a stress eater and I had a good fight with myself to stay in the ring and duke it out with my inner cookie monster! lol After work I stopped at a local restraunt and got a cup of soup broth and tea. Just enough down time to re-charge before heading home! Tomorrow is Saturday and going to try and get out for a walk. Taking the kids skiing I really wish I could still ski too! Maybe next year this time! Onward and upward!

    Still Not Feeling Like Myself

This is my 2nd surgery in 3 months. I had a pacemaker repair in November and lap band surgery in January. I must be crazy cause now my body is saying WHAT THE H@#$ WERE YOU THINKING!!! I'm getting older,(46) but the lack of energy is kicking my butt! My lap band surgery was already scheduled when I found out I needed the other surgery and I didn't want to give up my lap band surgery date! WTH I must be clinically insane...at least feeling that way right now! lol Must find energy! So still struggling to get back to me! I think it's going to take rest and figuring out what my body needs as far as protein and nutrition. Good luck!
  5. I love this soup. I was a week out of surgery and it was my Daughters 18th Birthday. We went to a japanese steak house (her request) and was wondering what I'd eat. This is very filling!

    Friend Beening Very Negative

I have the same problem with my best friend(since Kindergarten). She has always been overweight when we grew up and I was small. When I mentioned to her that I was going to have the surgery she was so negative and not suppotive at all. She said she'd have to be in the 'Fat club" all by herself? It's not like we have ever had a fat club I think she just doesn't want me to be thinner. I am doing this for my health. She said I am looking older since I ve started to lose weight. I told her I realize that might happen, but what I want is to be healthy so if I look older at least I will still be alive! Its kind of pointless otherwise! So I just take it with a grain of salt and stay away from the subject as much as possible. good luck!

There's No Traffic In The Extra Mile

I think having a large family would be great, but I don't and maybe for the first time that will work to my advantage! lol
  12. It gets better if you can keep your head in the game too! Look forward to what the outcome will be. It's great everytime you see the scale drop even a pound!

    9 Days Post Op

Hi! I was banded on the 19th too. I was on the liquid diet for the first week and then tried mushy food. My stomach is still off. I tried mushy's at day 5, it didn't go that great so I backed off. As of right now the only foods I have tried have been soup, yougart, squash and oatmeal. I have lost 15pounds. I am pretty active I work and 3 kids so I usually don't get to relax til probably 10pm. I haven't gotten back to the gym yet. 1st Dr. appt Tuesday.

New Pics On My Profile :)

You look great! I can't wait to post a pic when I have lost enough wt. that you can notice! I don't have one form my highest weight which was 262. The one I have up is at about 250. I really don't like my pic taken so phtos are hard to come by! Congratulations!!!
  18. I was banded on 1/19/12 and I tried muhsies at 5 days post op and it wasn't time yet for me. I called the Dr. and he said to stay on the clear diet until my stomach gets more time to heal. I think if you follow drs instructions you'll be ok I just know my stomach never could have done it in 2 days. Plus the gas pains make you feel so fuill you really don't want to eat. I didn't feel like I had any room for food., but also listen to your own body.

    Dining Out

I went out last night for dinner for my daughters birthday and she wanted to go to a japanese restraunt and I was paniced on how and what I was going to eat. This is a restraunt they cook in front of you with other people too. So they just keep bringing the food coming. It is 5 courses. I ordered chicken broth and an appetizer I ate 1 scallop and the broth was filling. Before I would have eaten everything in the 5 courses. I split the scallop appetizer with my kids. It looked like I ordered more food then I did. I din't want to start out or offend the host as they repeated come by and ask how you like the food at each course. I made it through it! yeah!

    3Rd Day Post Op Questions

My intake was about the same and it lasted 1 week. I had no desire to eat and nothing smelled good to me. up until yesterday I was still on clear liquid my stomach needs to heal and did not like when I tried mushy food so i backed off i am going to try again tomorrow. Peppermint tea is wonderful stuff! Settles my stomach, my stomach still feels bloated from the gas they put i during surgery. Can't wait to get back to the gym and when my stomach doent feel like I was in the ring with a heavy weight fighter! It will get better. Take your time. Protein can be ard on your stomach.

    24 Hours

Good luck! The first 4 days or so we're probably the worst but it gets better. I was banded 7 days ago and I have lost 12lbs. The best thing I ever did. Had my first food tonight and it was very good! Be patient the first days pre-op are kinda trying but it gets better pretty quick! Make sure you have plenty of gas-x in the house. Best wishes!
