  1. I track mine in MFP. Right now I consume around 600 cal, <25 fat grams, and shoot for 48-60oz of liquid (which is super hard), and 60 grams of Protein (which is also super hard)!

I had several mornings where I was very weak in the morning and just crappy up until about 5 weeks. I had a hard time standing up long enough to Iron my clothes for work without a rest. I think it was part of recovery ,I overdid it a bit the day before, needed more fluids or Protein, or any combo of these three things. All is pretty good now at 12 weeks. Take care of yourself it will get better.

  2. You're going to need to focus on yourself for awhile after surgery. This was different for me...the family always came first regardless of how I was feeling. This is a time for you to get healthy. My family was so sweet and a little worried not having seen me in this mode. Their support really helped. Get rest, drink your liquids, get your protien in, walk and rest some more. You may need naps because your sleep is off a little..take them w/o guilt. There are rougher days so eliminating the pressures of a busy schedule will help. For me p/o healing involved stopping to smell the roses....doing things at an easy pace....taking walks at the beach. It was the first time in 40 years of working I took off work just to do something for me with no schedule. It was a wonderful time of redefining my life plans.

  3. I never thought I'd say this but these frozen dinners are great! I have been having the hardest time eating any meat except for hamburger, I am not quite 3 mos out and most real food eating experiences have been disappointing and have left me wishing I hadn't tried to eat. Soft things are great but beef, chicken, etc difficult. I tried tender cuts, moist cuts... Anyway tonight I had the Atkins Turkey dinner and it was wonderful :) . Low carbs, low fat and low calories. Just the right amount of Protein. Just thought I'd share for anyone else struggling.

  4. The duodenal switch ( the sleeve + a intestinal bypass) does make smelly gas and bathroom problems if the person eats a lot of fat. I have know a few people with that surgery. The sleeve itself does not cause the same issues. I have had mine since 6/26 and no problems. I asked my doc before I had my surgery because I did not want those problems. He said it was the bypass part not the sleeve that was the cause.

  5. That's one of my biggest fears that I would forget and take too big of a bite, not chewing properly! It's probably one really big reason I'll hold off on alcohol....potential for forgetfulness and hunger. Bad combination. As I have been feeling more normal it is easier to forget about "mindful eating". Thanks fot the reminder!

  6. Hi I am June 26 and I also had some anxiety. My doc gave me ativan (30 tabs)in preparation for post op weeks. He said that it was for anxiety. I thought that was odd because I'm not usually anxious. It was very helpful the first month with sleeping and anxious moments that did occur. They are no longer needed. As I heal and feel stronger and I am able to help myself relax and not stress. I am not sleeping as well as I have in the past. Either I can't fall asleep or can't sleep in as long as my body wishes. I read something about hormones being relased as fat burns that affects sleep patterns. All in all, if I take care of myself, eat well and drink lots of Water I feel better than I have in years! Excercise has really helped too. I do pool aerobic/excercise 3 X a week. Also a funny thing about stressing over wieht loss...I kept thinking I was behind for my 3 month goal (what the doc estimated) ,feeling bad and wondering what I could do different in the next 3 weeks. After running it through my mind several times I realized the 26th of August is only 2 months not 3 months. Our minds can be our worst enemy at times ! Everything is going just fine and again I am so much better than in years! Hang in their and appreciate the baby steps...each one counts and we're going in the right direction!
