    Am I The Only One?

Hi I am 56 and sleeved 6/26/13. So far lost 24 lbs and feeling pretty well. I felt like I had to decide to sleeve or not at this point in life. I am grateful I did it. Already clothes are fitting so much better and I am more comfortable in general. Still getting the hang of eating and have become so aware of how the little cheats on my past diets were causing me to fail.

    Sickieeee :(

Drink, drink, drink. It is possibly dehydration. It is more important to drink than eat. While your body breaks down all the fat your metabolism needs more water/fluid than you might normally have needed in the past. If I can tell I'm thirsty (that's late) I start to catch up as quick as I can. Mostly I try not to let it happen. Once you're hydrated you may feel like eating. Don't drink while eating , for me not for 1/2 hour before and after eating. I hope you feel better soon!
  3. Hi , I am just 4 weeks and am starting to feel pretty good. The first 3 weeks I concentrated on just me, what I ate, how much water I drank and lots of rest. My family took over on the house, cooking and shopping, etc. the benefits of grown kids and helpful husband. I planned to go Back to work in just 10 days .That did not/ could not happen. I underestimated the surgery . I needed more rest and to get a handle of my daily schedule. There is no rushing It is a major surgery. I went back at 3 weeks ( still probably a little too soon for me). It is going pretty well. I can work 8 hours and do a little after work. Tonight swimming. Everyday is better. I overdid it last Monday and had to call in sick the next day. Listen to your body...not others, we are each different, and you will do fine. Good luck, you'll do great!
  4. I just ordered the sampler with chicken soup, hot chocolate and vanilla. It includes a thermometer(they say not to overheat or it will clump) and a small tupperware for mixing. It should be here soon! I recieved the chicken soup as a sample and really liked it.
  5. My doc said to use a shot glass a have 1 ounce every ten minutes for 10 hours of the day. That would leave 14 hours for sleep and excercise or other activities. It really helped me not to get behind in my water and shake drinking.

    Hey June 25 Sleevers

Hi my date was 6/26. I went back to work yesterday. I probably overdid it a bit after being gone for nearly 3 weeks. This morning was hard to get going at 5am. I don't have any real pain just tenderness and a little bit of indigestion. It was hard getting all my water and protein in at work and this morning was the first day the scale did not go down...so far I have lost 20 lbs. (not counting losing the 8 lbs I gained the fluids in the hospital) I had anxieties the first week but those seem to have passed. I am just trying to continuing eating, drinking, moving and resting...not skipping any of the steps

    Just a question.

I was sleeved 6/26 and I am going back Monday 7/15. I had planned sooner but I was still pretty fatigued. I had no complications but just needed adjustment time. Now I am also 56 and age might play a big factor.

    Approved on appeal?

Blue Cross Anthem -I was denied due to one random lower weight on first appointment. I re weighed at local dr office , had that weight and history of previous higher weight from prior check ups sent to vsg dr. He did Peer to Peer appeal and I was approved in days. Had my surgery 10 days later.
  11. Call your Doc for advice.
  12. A friend told me to try Isopure as an alternative to protein shakes. I ordered Green Tea lemon flavored. In reading the label every thing looked good, gluten free, aspartame free, preservative free, has full dose of antioxidents, etc. until in small print it said "serious jolt of caffeine"Everything else is natural and seemingly healthy.I'm bummed. I drank half of one before I saw the fine print. I guess I'll drink extra water and hope to sleep tonight. Do all ther products have caffeine? It wasn't apparent on Amazon when I ordered.

    Problems with insurance?

Something like that happened to me. I was denied. I went in to my PCP and got weighed again and was approved and scheduled by end of the week. Your doc can dispute it easily.

    Easting schedule

I'm going back to work next week and you've got me thinking. I can get too busy and forget to eat or drink, and this was before sleeve. Thanks for the tip. I'll work on on my schedule.

    Vsg on july 8th

Don't over do it! Rest when you need to,drink that ounce of fluid every ten minute for ten hours of the day to get your 60 oz in ,drink your protein and have lots of Popsicles and broth for variety! My doc routinely prescribes a small rx of Ativan for anxiety and pain management. I found taking one when I felt stressed helped my pain management better than an actual pain rx. You'll do great!
  18. My sleeve date was 6/26. I've been off since 6/25. My recovery is going well but I think I am going to stay home through this week (14 work days). I had to drive 400 mile each way to surgery, Dr.kept me 4 days and I am 56. I have a desk job but it is sometimes stressful. I am also short on time but thought taking it off now fully resting and getting my routine down might pay off in the long run.

    birth control after sleeve?

My 22 year old daughter took the Depo shot ( she is 5'3/ 110 lb) and had a horrible bout of depression and weight gain that took over a year to recover from. I would have a hard time recommending to anyone.

    No Pump for me

I had the pump and it was just right. I didn't have to wait for meds and by timing the use I was able to keep myself evenly comfortable. It takes more meds to regain pain control then to maintain at a lower level.
