    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

Sandy at my post-op today doc told me I could have gas after eating for up 2 a month. He said walk walk walk and Gas-X or Beano. Wal-Mart has an Equate brand of softgels, they are small enough to swallow, inexpensive and they ARE working.

The bypass is too drastic for me. Two family members had it done. One changed her life style and eating habits and has done very well. The other didn't and has gained back half of the weight she lost. Thanks for the kind words.

    Can't Wait!!!

That was me except I wasn't nervous at all, just excited. Drink lots of water the day before it makes it easier to start your IV. Get moving within 24 hrs, you'll recover faster. Remember your band can only do so much, the rest is up to you. Welcome to the family.
  6. Jeanam I was banded on 12/29 also. I am feeling really great and can start mushies next week. I was 270# at pre-op 12/22. Today I am at 258.8#. Tomorrow is my first post-opt visit. I weighed 311# when I started this journey in April at the seminar. When the #2 granddaughter wanted me to get on the floor to have a tea party, and I knew I wouldn't be able to get back up, I knew I had to do something. It took another 2 years and a diabetes scare. Healthy Life here we come.

Sweetpea I am doing great thanks for asking. I have my first post-op tomorrow. I began this journey at 311#. I had to do a minimum of 3 months weight loss (WW) for insurance approval and other tests. I weighed 270# at pre-op on 12/22. Today I am at 258.8#, I know this will slow after next week when I go to mushies but slow and steady wins our goals.

    Lap Band In Two Days

Hi Erica I was banded 12/29. I started at 311 lbs. To be approved by my insurance Co. I had to have at least 3 months supervised weight loss(WW), lost 42 lbs. Several other hoops to jump through for approval. I am so happy I did this. Best advice I could give you: after surgery start moving within 24 hers you'll recover much quicker. Remember you have to help your band it can only do so much. I would like to see 150# on the scale as my goal. I couldn't believe I did this to myself either. Good Luck Happy Banding Day and welcome to the family.

    Foods you cannot eat

Banded 12/29 so am still on full liquid diet. First no-no food V-8 juice. Have been in bathroom 6 times since shortly after Breakfast. This is the only new food since Saturday. I have had tomato basil Soup Saturday night, no bother. Oh well, I don't mind giving up V-8 it really isn't a favorite. This is a learning process. At least it is not my tomato basil soup that is a favorite.

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

Xiolablue I was banded 12/29 and will be on full liquids till the 11th. I have noticed most start our mushies and solid food depending on what our surgeons want. My pouch will only hold 2 ounces in the beginning and perhaps you overate? Also maybe you are not completely healed. That is why I think a lot of us are on liquids for 2 weeks. Listen to your band and it will tell you enough. Mine is already. Good luck and congrats.

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

Yankeechic my doc did the plication. I did experience nausea right after surgery. By the time I left the hospital that afternoon it had subsided. I will be on a full liquid diet until the 11th. I was banded 12/29. I am hungry first thing in the morning and then late evening. Hot cereal or soup usually takes care of it.

    Just Banded 12/27!!!

I researched the lap band for a year before I went to a seminar. I knew the band was for me. Two family members had the bypass, one has done extremely well. She changed her eating habits and life style, the other didn't and I feel she had ruined her health. The band is a much healthier choice. Happy New Year and Healthy New Life to all.

    4days Banded Gained 8 Lbs

I was banded 12/29. I am only weighing in once a week, on my weekly bandaversary. My husband bought me a Weight Watchers scale a few days before my new life began. I lost 42 lbs on WW and 3 lbs on pre-op liquid diet. I promised myself I would only weigh once a week just as I did the 6 months I went to WW. I don't want to be a slave to the scale.

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

Tracy, sounds like you should call your Doc. If he is not available you may need the ER. Radiating to your jaw doesn't sound right. It may just be gas but better to be sure.

    72 Hour Post Op

Rachel I was banded 12/29. I am still a little sore and the gas set in last night. Try some Milk of Mag and walk walk walk. It really helped a lot. I got up this morning gas free.

    Chewable Vitamins

I am using Nature's Bounty Your Life Multi Adult Gummies. I bought them at Wal-Mart, they have fiber and taste pretty good. I don't like gummy anything so that is saying a lot.

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

Karrie88 I was banded yesterday 12/29 and have not experienced any negative effects either. I am hungry, but broth and such is helping. Good luck to all bandsters, especially December bandsters.
  22. Got banded yesterday in Tulsa. My lapband counselor just told me I could have a protein drink today. Tomorrow very thin blenderized soups. I am feeling terrific, going to walk around Wal-Mart a bit, then home.

    Pre Surgery Diet

Wal-Mart has a protein powder big jar for $15, mix it with ff milk and 1/2 scoop of powder. I like the chocolate/peanutbutter, but then anything C/PB is good for me. My nutritionist told me our bodies will only absorb about 20-25gms protein at a time, one scoop of this powder is. 52, that is why I use 1/2 Scoop.
  24. If you are on BP meds and have lost a significant amount of weight, you may not need some of your meds any longer. This happened with my husband and he was able to quit one of his BP meds and his fast acting insulin.
  25. I had mine this am in Tulsa Ok by Dr. Atkins. Like you am very excited and feel pretty good. Today is one of our granddaughters 5th birthday and my new one.
