    ?????

Depends on your doctor and insurance Co. My doctor put me on liquids for 2 weeks pre-op, to help shrink my liver. Insurance wanted 3-6 months weight loss. Definitely call your doctor and insurance to find out what they require. Welcome to a healthier life.

    Intro And Questions!

My Dr did an iband, I didn't know this until after surgery, researched it and am I glad he did. I am 2 weeks PO and have lost 16#. I know this will slow when I am on regular foods, I would rather lose slowly as it is much healthier. I have a family member who had the bypass several years ago, they lost more than half their weight. They have gained 80# of that back and their health has been severely compromised by malabsorbation which is how RNY works. When I realized I couldn't keep this off by myself, I knew I could never do the bypass it scared me too bad. When I started hearing about the lapband, I knew after I researched it, the lapband was my future. I know this was lengthy, but I hope it helps. Much Luck.

    Meds For Lap Banders

Workinprogress, Wal-Mart has a liquid calcium by wellness that doesn't taste bad and it is inexpensive. Don't wait any longer to get on your calicum, especially if their is a history of osteoporosis in your family. Since we eat less, be sure to get your supplements to stay healthy.

    Hello From Minnesota

I know what you mean Cathy. I Felt like my lifeline had been cut. This site has been very helpful, we Bandsters are too new in this area to have a support group.

    Light Bleeding From Largest Incision

I am 2 weeks PO and I agree with shellyac also the day before surgery, drink drink drink to be sufficiently hydrated so your IV will be easier to get started. My pain was most intense when I woke up in recovery, I think it was the plication, which I am so glad my Dr did after I researched what it is. Good Luck and happy surgery day.
  7. The incision above my navel has suddenly become tender and looks to be newly bruised. Anyone have any ideas?
  8. I am a newbie, but have read a lot on this forum which is fantastic and according to the more experienced, yes this is normal and it will change after our first fill. I am trying to watch portion size and eat healthy. Good luck

Looking For Lap Band Mentor And Buddy Bloggers

Jeana, I'm from Oklahoma and was banded on 12/29 also. Where at in Oklahoma? I was 270# at pre-op 12/22, now I'm 255#. I was banded in Tulsa by Dr. Atkins.
  14. I am just 10 days PO so not much experience yet. I do have a hard time drinking enough water and remembering to do my protein drink.
  15. I was banded on 12/29, so I weigh once a week on Wednesday, my first post-op was on Wednesday so that is the reason I weigh on that day.
  16. Way to tell'em elcee, no one should judge us unless they have struggled for years to lose and maintain a weight loss. Banding IS NOT the easy way out, it is just as hard work as before.
  17. Pink Dahlia said it best. Research and lots of time on this forum. I was banded 12/29 and I have found a treasure trove of info. Good Luck

    Greetings!

Yvonne, my BMI was 52.8 when I first started my journey. My insurance wanted a supervised weight loss program and lots of other tests. Weight Watchers enabled me to lose 42# in 5 months. I was banded 12/29 and am down a total of 54#. If your medical caretakers are not supportive try to find the right ones. Don't let ANYONE stop you from having a healthy and happy life. Best Wishes and Good Luck
  19. I too have plantar facitis, wear orthdotics ($400+), $150 New Balance shoes on my podiatrist advice. I am hoping as I lose more I will no longer need my podiatrist. I had been having shots in my right knee for over a year and cartilage scraped out of the left. My band will put off knee replacement for many years. My sister has had both replaced. My back hurts far less than it did. I can walk much further than I have in years. Oh yes, now when I walk up to a plate glass door, I look straight at my reflection instead of my feet. Life will only get better.

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

My 1st fill is February 1st, I was banded 12/29 so it is less than 6 week, it is 34th day. Like you I've had no nausea, no vomiting, no excessive pain. This is going to be one of the best decisions I've made in my life, EVER.

    Small Cheat Big Issues

I am so glad I chose WW for my recorded weight loss my insurance wanted. It was my 4th attempt and easier to do because I was working for approval of my band. But I feel this time it finally clicked on healthier eating and portion control on unhealthy foods. We will complete our journey nearly all of us will fall of the wagon at one time or another. Don't beat ourselves up, climb back on and listen to your band. Laddie is telling me right now that I need to eat.

    December Bandsters!! How Ya Feeling??

I think the gas has finally left the building! Yea! Feeling much better, have to keep reminding myself to drink drink drink. Took a little trip overnight, was a little worried about working my liquid diet. But it was manageable. Just a little tender at port sight but I can tie my shoes. Time for a trip to my plus size only consignment shop. I look forward to day I enjoy trying on clothes.

All Scales Are Not Created Equal!

I bought a WW scale at Lowe's for about $40. I weigh before an appt and it is within a few ounces of my docs scales.
