I had my surgery on the 3rd of January and am sore but doing good. Today is my last day of clear liquids then I progress to full liquids. I am so happy for you. Keep us posted on how your doing!

Dr. Drahota did my surgery on Tuesday and I couldn't have been happier. The Medical Weightloss Surgery Center is where he does the surgery. I loved everyone of my nurses and everyone that was there. They were so helpful to me even when I was nervous they sat with me and told me as much info as they could about what I was going to go through, step by step. After surgery I even had my own post op nurse that didn't leave my side. I was so comfortable that I hated going home!!

Well I made it ! I am officially banded. We got to the surgery center at 6 and I was taken back to get preped for surgery by 7. Around 8 the doctor came and visited me and they put a nice cocktail in my iv. At this point you stop caring and they wisked me back. When I woke I was a little sore but not horribly infact, it wasnt until I got up to walk did the gas pain start. Once that happened they started me on a liquid pain medicine to go along with the iv pain meds. I walked every hour and it did seem to help. I was discharged the next morning by 5 and we arrived at home at 845. I am still really sore but not as bad as I was thinking. You guys will be great. I can't wait till we can all exchange advise and watch ourself become mini! by the way I had lost 10 lbs on the liquid diet so as hard as it was to stick with it definitly paid off. In fact they said that if you dont stay with it your liver can be too big for surgery and they would have to stop surgery and wait two more weeks. ugg

I will! I just did the pre-scrub on my tummy and am off to bed. My hubby is waking me up at 5 to do the last scub and we are off. My nerves are up but I am excited for the new me. I had my husband take pictures of me so we could compare later on. Thanks for the positive thoughts.....see you on the other side.

My surgery is tomorrow and i am definitly nervous!!!! My hubby and I are checked into our hotel and wow I am nervous. I am so hungry and all I can hope is that I will be myself again soon. I am just going with the plan right now - on autopiolet.

I really hate it when I tell someone and they say, " Oh, you really need to be careful." Ok so you think I decided to undergo surgery lightly? I have decided that I will tell some and some I will just not because I don't need the negativity. I go to surgery on tue 3rd when do you go?

I have to say these protein shakes are not the best. I don't want sweet I think I want meat! lol I have been on the preop diet almost 5 days now and am realizing how food was such a big part of my life. Everytime my husband says,"Whats for dinner?" I get alittle excited only to realize I cant eat. Wow. That really sounds pathetic. I am such a emotional eater. I know I only have till tuesday for surgery so that is what is pushing me on. Plus all you others that keep posting feelings like your reading my mind. Its nice to no your not alone.

Welcome! I get banded on the 3rd of January! I'm excited and nervous all in one. I just started my liquid diet yesterday and am having a rough time with it. Do you have any secrets on how not to starve to death??

Wow Kuwait! I get my surgery on the 3rd and started my liquid diet yesterday (yuck). I had my preop visit with my surgeon and they said that they have alot of patients that get their surgery in other countries and they do great! I'm sure you will do the same. Good luck and welcome!

I'm so happy for you. I really enjoyed your post. I needed to be reminded how hard people have to work in order to get the lapband. My surgery is next Tuesday the 3rd and am extremely nervous and excited at the same time. I am ready for this new challenge but am scared of surgery. I had a little old lady friend of mine tell me today the best advice, "You have made the committement - now just go through with the dang thing already" haha

Hey I am new to this site. My name is shay and I am having the lapband put on Jan 3rd and am excited! I have been reading through alot of the posts and have found it very comforting. I have been so nervous and it makes it easier getting to read other peoples stories and advice. I am wondering however if others did not have to have upper GI test before surgery? My doctor just had me do a blood test and heart test then set me up for surgery. Is this common?

I am just wondering if anyone had this happen before surgery? The day after the surgeon scheduled my surgery (Jan 3) the upper part of my stomach started to hurt. It gets better if I take antacids but it still worries me. I called my regular doctor but they said if I did not have it before it is probally stress and worry about the surgery. I am just worried I have a hernia and it will stop me from surgery. I really dont want to put the surgery off anymore. I am ready to start my new life.

Thanks. It makes me nervous because I worry about hernia or gallbladder. What happens if they get in and find their bad???? Im scared I will get in to surgery and not be able to get lapband. I know it is silly but I just cant help being afraid.

I know what you mean. I am having surgery on Jan 3rd and as time goes by I get more and more nervous. I keep trying to focus on my original reason for the surgery and what it will fill like living without all the restrictions being fat gives you. It will be a hard couple of weeks for us but we can make it.
